Overview
1.1 Introduction
The new Zip range of DVRs has been designed with the CCTV installer and end-
user in mind; it’s simple to fit and has some very useful benefits. The following is a
brief synopsis but further detail is provided on the subsequent page.
Zip DVR Range
There are three models of Zip DVR, the Lite, Supa and Xtreme. Each model has 3
options, either 4, 8 or 16 HD camera channels plus additional IP cameras.
Zip DVR Analogue Formats
It has multi-video format which is compatible with HD-TVI, CVI, AHD and analogue
CVBS camera modes. So if you have an older DVR that needs replacement but
cameras are still working okay and are in the above video formats, the Zip DVR may
be the best and most economical solution.
Zip DVR Additional IP Camera Channels
The Zip DVR range can also use IP cameras with the 4 channel Zip DVRs providing
two additional IP cameras, the 8 channel DVR providing four additional IP cameras
and the 16 channel DVR eight additional IP cameras. This means that a 4 channel
Zip DVR can support up to 6 channels, the 8 channel DVR up to 12 channels and the
16 channel DVR up to 24 camera channels. This gives you up to 50% extra channel
availability which is a real benefit for the customer.

Zip DVR Hybrid or Analogue Modes
The Zip DVR has two modes, Hybrid (default) that allows you to use additional IP
cameras, or DVR that if set, only allows HD and Analogue cameras only. The number
of additional IP cameras that can be used depends on the pixel sizes and the model
of Zip DVR selected. The Xtreme range additionally has Record Mode Settings
option for selecting 4K (8MP) default or the 5MP standard for HD analogue cameras.
Alternatively using the Hybrid mode you can close analogue channels to increase
resource for IP camera channels.
Zip DVR Audio Options
The Zip DVR range for HD analogue/CVBS supports one audio input for the Lite
range but 4, 8 or 16 respectively for the 4, 8 or 16 channel Supa and Xtreme ranges.
In addition IP cameras connected that have an audio option included on the camera,
will be in addition to the HD analogue/CVBS audio channels.
Zip DVR Alarm Options
The range of alarm inputs on the Zip DVR for the Supa and Xtreme ranges is one per
channel i.e 4 for 4 channel, 8 for 8 and 16 for 16 channel. These units have one
output alarm. The Lite only has alarm functionality on IP cameras that have the alarm
feature, which also applies additionally to the Supa and Xtreme ranges.

*Our DVRs take the latest 8 and 10TB sizes but we’ve based our table on a
maximum capacity drive size of 6TB as they currently represent the best value for
money.
1.3 Installation Guidlines
1. Never operate the equipment using an unspecified power supply.
2. Do not install the equipment in a dusty or damp area. Avoid a humid environment.
3. Keep the surface of the equipment clean and dry. Use soft damp cloth to clean the
outer case of recorder (do not use liquid aerosol cleaners.)
4. If the system clock fails to work, power down the recorder, remove the top of the
case and replace the standard 3V lithium battery on the main board.
5. Always install the recorder in a place with good ventilation ensuring that the
ventilation slots are not covered and that there is a good flow of air around the
recorder. Due to the heat produced especially by the Hard Drive/s, reducing
ventilation can reduce life of the recorder components and the Hard Drive/s.
6. The power adaptor on the recorder must only be used to power one recorder
because connecting additional equipment can cause the recorder to reboot due
to insufficient power.
