Cleaning Instructions
You can clean your Digital Thermometer by wiping it with soap and water or
70% Isopropyl Alcohol.THE UNIT MUST NEVER BE SUBMERSED IN ANY
IQUID OR STERI IZED IN ANY WAY (GAS OR STEAM AUTOC AVES).
Failure to follow these instructions will cause severe damage to your unit and
void your warranty.
Switching Dual Scale
NOTE: To change between Celcius and Fahrenheit readings, hold the POWER
button for 2 seconds until the “ o” with an “m” displays and changes between °F and
°C. Press the POWER button again to turn the thermometer off.
How to Take our Temperature
1. Clean the thermometer according the instructions provided.
2. Apply a disposable probe cover to the clean, dry thermometer.
3. Determine whether the measurement site will be oral, rectal or underarm.
NOTE: Measure ent ti e ay vary based on the selected site.
Once the desired temperature is selected, press the POWER
button (the unit will beep) to activate the thermometer.This is the
CD display test, which insures all parts of the display are func-
tioning properly.
The last measured temperature with an “m” will appear. If there
is no previous measurement, “ o” °F(°C) will be displayed.

Finally, a “ o” with a flashing °F(°C) will appear in the display to
indicate that the thermometer is ready for measurement.
NOTE: If the room temperature is above 89.6°F(32.0°C), the room temperature will
display instead of the o.
General Care
1. The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of an adult.
2. Do not walk, run or talk during temperature taking.
3. Clean the thermometer before and after each use.
4. Store the unit in the protective case when not in use.
5. Do not bite the probe.
6. Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or humidity.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
7. Dropping or subjecting your thermometer to strong shocks should be avoided.
8. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
9. If measurement is not attainable, the unit must be replaced.
NOTE: Performance of the device may be degraded if: operated outside of stated
temperature and humidity range; stored outside of stated temperature and humidity
range; thermometer undergoes mechanical shock (drop); patient temperature is
below ambient temperature.
Changing the Battery
The battery in your digital thermometer needs to be replaced when the “ ” sym-
bol appears. Replace the battery with a R41 or equivalent.
To replace the battery,
1. Remove screw and slide the battery cap away from the
unit.
2. Gently pull the battery tray out until it stops. Using a non-
metal pointed tool, carefully remove the battery and insert
the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
3. Carefully slide the battery cap back into place, making
sure that the cap fits snugly to protect the battery com-
partment from moisture and replace screw.
NOTE: Please properly dispose of the battery away fro
children and heat.

Taking an Oral Temperature
Approximate measurement time: 20 seconds
1. Using the diagram on the right, place the
probe tip under the tongue as near as
possible to the heat pocket. The diagram
also shows the temperature variables by
not placing the tip in the heat pocket
area.
NOTE: Drinking hot or cold fluids,
exercising, s oking or perfor ing other
activities ay raise or lower your
te perature. Therefore, it is i portant to
relax for approxi ately 5 inutes with your
outh closed prior to taking a reading.
2. The current temperature is shown and the °F (°C) will continue to flash during the
reading.

When the peak temperature has been reached, the oF(°C) will stop flash-
ing and the thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the temperature is
below 100oF(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100oF(37.8°C) the unit
will sound ten sets of three short beeps each.
4. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically shut off
after approximately nine minutes.

Thank you for purchasing a Digital Thermometer. Please read the following detailed
instructions to achieve the most accurate temperatures and safe operation. With
proper care and use, your thermometer will provide you with years of reliable
readings.
What is a “Normal”Temperature?
Although the generally accepted “normal” temperature reading is 98.6°F(37.0°C),
temperature readings can vary from 97°F (36.1°C) to 99°F (37.2°C) and still may be
considered “normal”. Variations in temperature can be attributed to activities such as
exercise, smoking, eating and drinking. Even time of day may influence your tem-
perature. For example, your temperature is lower in the morning than in the after-
noon. Other variations may be due to the location of the temperature
reading. While the oral temperature follows the guidelines previously described, a
rectal temperature is generally 1.0°F(0.5°C) higher. Conversely, an axillary (under
the arm) temperature will be 1.0°F (0.5°C) lower.
Features of your MABIS Digital Thermometer
Taking an Axillary Temperature (under the arm)
Approximate measurement time: 30 seconds
1. Wipe the underarm with a dry towel.
2. Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin with the
thermometer perpendicular to the body.
3. Position the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered by the arm. This
also insures the probe is not affected by the room’s air.

When the peak temperature has been reached, the oF(°C) will stop flash-
ing and the thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the temperature is
below 100oF(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100oF(37.8°C) the unit
will sound ten sets of three short beeps each.
5. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically shut off
after approximately nine minutes.
NOTE: Axillary te peratures are generally 1.0°F (0.5°C) lower than oral readings.
Taking a Rectal Temperature
Approximate measurement time: 15 seconds
NOTE: Rectal te peratures are an appropriate and reliable ethod for infants and
s all children. Otherwise, this ethod should only be used when it is i possible or
ipractical to take an oral or axillary te perature.
1. After applying the disposable probe cover, apply a water-soluble lubricant to
the tip.
2. Gently insert the probe a MAXIMUM of 1/2” into the rectum.
3.
When the peak temperature has been reached, the oF(°C) will stop flash-
ing and the thermometer will sound ten long beeps if the temperature is
below 100oF(37.8°C). If the temperature is above 100oF(37.8°C) the unit
will sound ten sets of three short beeps each.
4. To turn the unit off, press the ON/OFF button. The unit will automatically shut off
after approximately nine minutes.

Using Disposable Probe Covers
It is recommended to use the enclosed disposable probe covers to prevent cross
contamination. Additional probe covers can be purchased from your Dealer or with
the order form provided.

The warrantor guarantees that its Digital Thermometer will be free from manufacturing
defects under normal use for a period of five years.
This warranty covers only normal use, and does not apply to use in any clinical or
commercial applications. This warranty does not cover batteries or other power sources
that may be provided with or used with the Digital Thermometer. This warranty is voided
if the Digital Thermometer product is misused or abused in any manner.
If the Digital Thermometer fails to operate during the time the original
purchaser owns it, return it postage prepaid to: Repair Department, 1931 Norman Drive
South, Waukegan, I 60085. The warrantor will repair or replace the defective unit at the
option of the warrantor. Repair or replacement of the defective unit, at warrantor’s option,
is the sole remedy under this warranty.
ANY IMP IED WARRANTIES WHICH THE PURCHASER MAY HAVE ARE IMITED IN
DURATION TO THE TIME THAT THE ORIGINA CONSUMER PURCHASER OWNS
THE PRODUCT. Some states do not allow limitations or how long an implied warranty

NOTA: Para cambiar entre las lecturas centígrados y Fahrenheit, sostenga el botón

Cómo Tomar la Temperatura
1. impie el termómetro de acuerdo con las instrucciones dadas.
2. Coloque la cubierta desechable en el medidor del termómetro limpio y seco.
3. Determine si tomará la temperatura en forma oral, rectal o debajo de la axila.
NOTA: El tiempo de medición puede variar de acuerdo con el método utilizado.

botón de la energía para activar el termómetro. a pantalla digi-

a temperatura medida pasada con una “m” aparecerá si no hay

exhibido.

¿Qué es Temperatura “Normal”?
Si bien la temperatura “normal” es de 98.6°F (37.0°C), las lecturas de las temperat-
uras pueden variar desde los 97°F(36.1°C) hasta los 99°F(37.2°C) y aún así con-
siderarse “normales”. as variaciones en la temperatura pueden atribuirse a distin-
tos factores tales como hacer ejercicio, fumar, comer y beber. Aun la hora del día
puede influir en su temperatura. Por ejemplo, la temperatura es más baja por la
mañana que por la tarde. Otras variaciones pueden deberse a la ubicación de la lec-
tura de la temperatura. Mientras que la temperatura oral sigue las instrucciones
descriptas anteriormente, la temperatura rectal es generalmente 1.0°F (0.5°C) supe-
rior. Por el contrario, la temperatura en la axila (debajo del brazo) será 1.0°F(0.5°C)
inferior.

Cómo Tomar la Temperatura en la Axila (debajo del brazo)
Tiempo de medición aproximado: 30 segundos
1. Seque la axila con una toalla seca.
2. Coloque la punta del medidor debajo del brazo de modo que la punta toque la piel con el ter-
mómetro en forma perpendicular al cuerpo.
3. Coloque el brazo sobre el pecho de modo que la punta del medidor quede
cubierta por el brazo. Esto también asegura que el medidor no se vea afectado por el aire de
la habitación.

Cuando se ha alcanzado la temperatura máxima, el símbolo oF(°C) dejará de ser
intermitente, el termómetro emitirá diez sonidos largos si la temperatura está abajo

te peratura oral o axilar.

Cómo Usar las Cubiertas Desechables del Medidor
Se recomienda usar las cubiertas desechables para medidor incluidas aquí para
evitar la contaminación. Puede comprar más cubiertas desechables para medidor a
un Distribuidor o con el formulario de pedido adjunto.
Cuidado General
1. Siempre utilice el termómetro con la supervisión de un adulto.
2. No camine, corra o hable durante la toma de la temperatura.
3. impie el termómetro antes y después de cada uso.
4. Guarde la unidad en el estuche protector cuando no la utilice.
5. No muerda el medidor.
6. No exponga la unidad a la luz del sol directa, polvo o humedad. Evite las
temperaturas extremas.
7. Evite dejar caer el termómetro o los grandes golpes.
8. No intente desarmar la unidad, excepto para cambiar la batería.
9. Si no se obtiene una medida, deberá reemplazar la unidad.
NOTA: El desempeño de este dispositivo puede verse afectado si: se opera fuera de
los niveles de temperatura y humedad recomendados, si se almacena bajo niveles
de temperatura y humedad fuera de los recomendados, si el termómetro se somete
a un golpe mecánico (se lo deja caer), si la temperatura del paciente está por
debajo de la temperatura ambiente.
Cómo Cambiar la Batería
Deberá cambiar la batería del termómetro digital cuando el
símbolo“ ”aparezca. Cambie la batería por una del tipo
R41 o equivalente.
Para cambiar la batería:
1. Deslice la tapa de las baterías hasta retirarla de la unidad.
2. Deslice suavemente hacia fuera la bandeja de la batería
hasta que se detenga. Con una herramienta puntiaguda
no metálica, quite cuidadosamente la batería e introduzca
una batería nueva con el lado positivo (+) hacia arriba.
3. Deslice con cuidado la tapa de la batería hasta que quede
en su lugar y asegúrese de que ésta quede bien ajustada para evitar que entre
humedad en el compartimiento.
NOTA: Deshágase de la batería de odo que quede lejos de los niños o del calor.

Cómo Tomar la Temperatura Oral
Tiempo de medida aproximado: 20 segundos
1. Usando el diagrama ubicado a la derecha,
coloque la punta del medidor debajo de la
lengua lo más cerca posible del espacio sacu-
lar de calor. El diagrama también le muestra
las variables de temperatura que se
producen al no colocar la punta en el área de
espacio sacular de calor.
NOTA: La ingestión de líquidos fríos o calientes,
los ejercicios físicos, el fu ar o realizar otras activi-
dades pueden contribuir a que su te peratura
suba o baje. Por lo tanto, es i portante descansar
aproxi ada ente 5 inutos con la boca cerrada
antes de to arse la te peratura.
2. Aparece la temperatura actual y el símbolo °F (°C) continuará titilando durante la lectura de la
temperatura.

CUA QUIER GARANTÍA IMP ÍCITA QUE E COMPRADOR PUEDA TENER SE
IMITA EN DURACIÓN A TIEMPO EN QUE E COMPRADOR ORIGINA TENGA E
PRODUCTO EN SU PODER. Algunos estados no permiten limitaciones sobre el
tiempo de duración de una garantía implícita, de manera que la limitación citada puede
no aplicarse en su caso.
Esta garantía constituye la única responsabilidad y obligación del garante de reparar y/o
cambiar materiales o componentes, o reintegrar el precio de compra. El garante no será
responsable por los daños indirectos, incidentales, especiales, consecuentes o
punitivos u otras pérdidas, incluyendo sin limitación, daños o pérdidas de otros bienes
o equipos y lesiones personales, ya sea al comprador o a otros. El garante no será de
