You are now the owner of water treatment equipment produced by the world’s leading
manufacturer of water treatment systems. This equipment produces softened water that
will help you to save energy and money with optimum performance.
Please read this user manual carefully before you install and operate your "A.O. Smith"
softener cabinet. To achieve maximum efciency this user manual provides detailed
instructions regarding the installation of your water softener cabinet as well as information
related to the proper operation and maintenance of your equipment.
The installation should only be handled by professionals authorized by A.O. Smith
Su Teknolojileri A.Ş.
Spare parts used for maintenance and replacement should be approved by A.O. Smith Su
Teknolojileri A.Ş. before they are installed.
Any degradation of performance caused by the use of spare parts that have not
been approved by A.O. Smith Su Teknolojileri A.Ş. will not be covered by our warranty.
If you experience any difculties during installation or operation, please contact your local
distributor to have them carry out repairs or maintenance on your equipment.

valve and the product!
Doing so may cause damage to the water
softener’s external cover, valve or internal
components, which in turn could lead
to leakage, equipment malfunctions or even
serious property damage.
This system does not include a disinfection
process. This system should not be used
with microbiologically unsafe or unknown
quality water without applying any necessary
disinfection!
Doing so may cause possible threats to you
and your environment’s health.

Do not put the water softener cabinet
close to a source of ame!
Do not put the water softener cabinet near
a source of ame or a place where
the temperature is too high as heat may
affect the plastic control valve or bypass valve
system causing damage.
Do not put heavy objects on the product!
Placing heavy objects on the product may
cause damage to the water softener’s
external cover, valve or internal components,
which in turn could lead to leakage,
equipment malfunctions or even serious
property damage.
Do not place this product in leaning position
or lay upside down during transportation,
installation and usage!
Leaning position and turning upside down
may damage the valve and components
of the product. Turning upside down or laying
down may cause media to enter the valve.
Do not support the weight of the system
on the control valve connections,
or plumbing!
It may cause damage to the valve, which
in turn could lead to leakage, equipment
malfunctions or even serious property
damage.
Set up a waterspout on the oor nearby
the water softener!
In any case of leaking accidents, it is
recommended to set up a waterspout
nearby the softener.
Do not use excessive force by any tools during
assembling and disassembling the product!
Excessive force may damage the plastic
conjunction parts or the product.

Do not use the water softener in areas,
where the water conductivity is ≥ 2000 µS.
Water softener cannot function properly
if the water conductivity is greater than
2000 µS.
Observe drain line requirements!
The drain line must be a minimum of ½ inch
diameter. Use ¾ inch pipe if the total length
of the drain line exceeds 6 meters.
Pay attention to the standard hardness
of raw water and water usage quantity!
If water usage or hardness of raw water
dramatically increases comparing
to the normal usage, the frequency
of regeneration should also be increased.
A drain line should be connected to the water
softener cabinet!
To get the maximum efciency from
the water softener cabinet, a connection
to the drain line should be made.
Do not use water during regeneration!
During regeneration time, water from tap
will NOT be softened. It is not recommended
to use water during regeneration; otherwise,
a negative effect on the regeneration result
will occur.
Do not use this water softener under
high water pressure conditions!
Operating under high pressure conditions
may cause the water softener pipes
to rupture, resulting in leakage, the machine
working improperly, or even serious property
damage.
The input water pressure must be between
1.5 bar to 3.5 bar (0.15MPa to 0.35MPa.),
no negative pressure allowed.

Do not use the water softener after a long
period of inactivation without regeneration
rst!
Initiate a regeneration cycle after being
inactivated in a long period of time,
and then turn on the tap for several minutes
before resuming normal use.
When pre-ltration is necessary, it is
recommended to use a sediment ltration
in front of the system.
Sediment ltration will help to protect
the piston and gaskets of the valve.
Use only regenerants designed for water
softening.
Using other media may affect the water
softness quality and the performance
of the product negatively.
- Use only the recommended amount of salt!
Using excessive amount of salt will result
in ooding.
- Do not insert the salt with a sack inside the
brine well.
Using a sack will prevent water traction
and affect the performance negatively.
- Do not use sandy or connate salt
in the system!
Using these kinds of salt may affect the water
softness quality and the performance
of the product negatively.
In case of using water boiler or water heater,
ensure a minimum of 3 meters piping length
between the softener and boiler!
Hot water could cause severe damage
to the softener system. If using water boiler
or water heater, ensure the total run
of the piping between the softener
and the boiler is not less than 3 meters.
It is recommended to install a check valve
between the softener and the boiler if unable
to meet the required piping length.
Do not let the cabinet come in contact with
corrosive materials!
These materials could corrode the outer cover
and adversely affect various parts
of the equipment. Toxic and hazardous
compounds could penetrate the water
softener pipes, causing contamination
of the water or leakage, which in turn may
cause personal damage or property damage.

The power outlet must be grounded!
Using ungrounded outlet may lead to electric
shock, short circuiting or re.
Do not use petroleum-based lubricants,
oils or hydrocarbon-based lunbricants.
Doing so may be a risk to your health.
Use only 100% silicone lubricants.
Do not use a power source exceeding
the equipment’s specied value. Use only
220-240V AC, 230V AC power or 24V AC
adaptor if nececessary!
The electrical current supplied
to your equipment by the outlet must not be
greater than the specied value; otherwise
it may lead to the overheating
of your equipment or re.
Do not touch the power plug with wet hands!
It may lead to electric shock.
Do not damage the power cord of the valve
or the outlet!
Doing so may lead to electric shock,
short circuiting or re.
The equipment must be disconnected
from the power supply during installation
and repairs!
Otherwise it may lead to electric shock.

No chemicals allowed at the inlet and outlet
connecting sectors!
Applying unknown chemicals may cause
risks to you and your environment’s health.

Do not place the water softener cabinet
under direct sunlight!
Placing the water softener under direct
sunlight for a certain period of time may
create a breeding ground
for microorganisms; and potentially causing
the internal components of the water
softener to become contaminated.
Do not use the product in conditions under 1°C!
If the ambient temperature falls below 1°C,
please be sure to take measures to prevent
freezing, such as turning on a heater
or air conditioner to prevent leakage
or cracked pipes caused by water freezing
inside the equipment. The required
environmental temperature for softener is
between 1-39 °C.
Do not use this water softener cabinet
outdoors!
If this product is used outdoors, it can lead
to accelerated aging of the product.

Product Description
Brief Introduction
The fundamental working principle of water softening systems is to help
remove Calcium (Ca+2) and Magnesium (Mg+2) ions that cause hardness
of water through ion exchanging methods. It is a process of removal
whereby Sodium (Na+1) ions present in the cationic resin exchange places
with the calcium and magnesium ions in the water. After this process,
the saturated resin must be regenerated with a time or ow controlled
regeneration procedure. Our A.O. Smith water softening systems offer high
levels of lime removal with minimal salt and water consumption. As a result,
the calcication problems that occur in pipe ttings, washing, heating
and boiling systems within your homes are eliminated. You obtain high
levels of energy consumption and efciency.

Product Specications
Slide Cover
Slide cover design will ensure practicality for easy salt relling and also
checking the system whenever necessary. Valve body is concealed inside
the slide cover, preventing dirt and dust on valve body. Because of its user
friendly design, the timer can easily be removed for easy maintenance.
Digital Control LCD Screen
Easy to use and user friendly multi-color LCD control digital panel will
enable the user to make all necessary adjustments and settings.
Six Different Language Options
The control valve can be adjusted to one of the following six languages
English, French, Spanish, Polish, Russian and Turkish. The valve will be
in factory setting, which is Turkish. The language of the valve can be
changed during installation.
NOTE: the parameters above may change due to product improvements, but the product name plate shall remain the same. TDS refers to inuent total dissolved solids.

Functions of the Main Components
Control Valve
 24 Hours control and monitoring; automatically regenerate the medial
bed at the system’s set time of regeneration according to the set
regeneration frequency.
 Automatically calculate and design more scientic cycle plan according
to the quality of supply water and the user’s actual water use.
Cycle process:
- In Service: Supply water with suitable pressure and ow rate ows
into softener, and the cations concerns to water hardness (Ca²+,
Mg²+, etc.) in the water will be replaced by Na+in regenerants,
then the softening system supply softened waterthrough its outlet.
- Backwash: When the ion exchange resins are out of effect, the resin
bed needs to be regenerated. And before the regeneration of resin
bed, a backwash step is absolutely necessarily for two main puposes:
- Remove the residuals and resin shatters in the resin bed
- Loose the impacted resin bed for a better regeneration efency.
- Brine: Under certain concentration and ow rate conditions, brine ow
through entire resin bed, then the saturated resins will resume their
softening capacity.
- Rinse: Rinse the resin bed to remove the residual regenerant (salt) in
it after Brine step until the water from outlet contains no regenerant
rinse could also impact the resin bed for a better softening effect.
- Fill: Rell water to brine tank to dissolve salt for the next regeneration.
Cabinet as Brine Tank
 Rell water and salt meet each other in the brine tank, and the salt will
dissolve continously to water through natural convection until
the water is saturated by salts.
 Rell Cabinet
- Manually initiate a whole regeneration cycle after resin tank lling
to ll appropriate water to cabinet.
- Salt level should be higher than water level at rst time.
There should be enough solid salt at anytime.
Upflow Regeneration
Upow brining, injects hard water at the base of the resin bed, allowing
it to ow upwards through every media layer before the pristinely soft
water is delivered to your tap meaning the full softening capacity
of the resin is utilized and less frequent regeneration is required.
In general, upow brining softener systems are more brine efcient than
downow systems. In the end, the upow system will result in saving
15% salt and maximum resin efciency.

Before Installation
Choose the location where the water product will be installed.
 Conrm the availability of the various tools required for installation.
 Conrm that you have all the connectors required for installation.
Make sure to turn off the water supply and electricity before installation.
The necessary requirements for installation:
Inlet water pipe port
Outlet water pipe port
Drain water pipe port
Power Supply
This product should be able to put in normal use right after the complete
installation and a regeneration test; any other additional operation is not
required unless power supply is cut off accidentally.
Installation
1-) Set the control valve into the backwash position, then open water
supply valve very slowly to approximately the ¼ open position and let
water ow slowly in the resin tank (if open too rapidly, resin may be lost).
2-) When all of the air has been purged from tank (water begins to ow
steadily from the drain), open the main supply valve to the full position.
3-) Leave the cabinet in regeneration mode until the drain water is clean.
4-) Shut off water supply and let the unit stand for about ve minutes
to escape all trapped air from the tank.
5-) Add salt and water into the cabinet.
WARNING: For rst time operation, salt level should be higher than
the water level in the cabinet.
While the power and water inlet is on and there is enough salt inside the cabinet,
so extra operation is needed to operate the cabinet water softener.
WARNING: Water should be added with salt into the cabinet only for initial
operation. After the initial operation, the water will be automatically acquired,
which means there will be no need to add water but only salt should be added
periodically.
Installation Methods
Our company recommends that your product is installed by trained professionals as the installation process is somewhat complex and requires the use
of various tools. However, if you decide to install the product yourself, please refer to the following steps:

Operation Methods
Safety Considerations for Operation
During the initial operation, salt level should be above water level
in the cabinet.
To operate properly, there should be always adequate quantity of salt.
The input water pressure must be between 1.5 bar to 3.5 bar
(0.15MPa to 0.35MPa.), no negative pressure allowed.
During regeneration time, water from tap will NOT be softened. It is not
recommended to use water during regeneration; otherwise, a negative
effect on the regeneration result will occur.
Initiate a regeneration cycle after water softener’s long period
of inactivation. After regeneration, turn on the tap for several minutes
before resuming normal use.
DO NOT disconnect power during service time to keep the timer run
normal that controls the regeneration function.
If water usage or hardness of raw water dramatically increases
(comparing to the normal usage), the frequency of regeneration should
correspondingly increase .
Hot water could cause severe damage to the softener system; for water
boiler and water heater users, ensure the total-run of the piping between
the water softener and the boiler is a minimum 3 meters. If it is unable
to meet the required piping length, to use a one-way security valve
beween the water softener and the boiler is stongly recommended.
No chemical allowed at the inlet and outlet connecting sectors.
No excessive force which can damage the plactic conjunction parts
should be applied by any tools. Besides the machine, spare part
connection material doesn’t include in scope of manufacture’s warranty.
The required environmental temperature for softener is 1-39 °C.
Avoid the water softener from freezing.
 Please set up waterspout on the oor nearby the softener in case
of any leaking accidents.
DO NOT apply any pressure on the softener; avoid exposure to direct
sun light and radiation from other heating sources;
Please use only the recommended types of resin and salt for regeneration.

Setting Methods
• Press the“MENU” button to enter and exit the menu.
• Press the “ /+” and “/ -” button to select a parameter.
• Press the“SET/REGEN.” button, the parameter starts ashing.
• Press the “ /+” and “ / -” button to change the value.
• Press the “SET/REGEN.” button to save the setting.
• Press the “ /+” and “ / -” button to select other parameters.
• Follow the above steps to change other parameters.
• Press the“MENU” button to exit settings.
Standby Display
• When power is rst supplied, the valve may take up to two minutes
to initialize. During this time, the valve will show:
NOTE: You can only change the ashing parameters.
Program will be back to standby status if any button was not operated
in 3 minutes. Without being operated in 3 minutes, the buttons will be locked.
• Do not touch any buttons at this time. When the valve reaches
the service position, it will display:

• Screen shows Current Time, Last Regeneration day, Regeneration Mode,
the Remaining Days of next regeneration, the Capacity Remaining of next
regeneration and current Flow Rate.
• Numbers of blue bar represent the Remaining Days at Calendar Clock
mode.
• Numbers of blue bar represent the Capacity Remaining, the Flow Rate
at Meter Mode.
• Screen will be locked if any button without being operated
at the standby display.
System Initialization
When power is rst supplied, the valve may take about two minutes to
initialize, and the valve will show:
Any button will be overridden at this time. When the valve reaches the
service position, it will return to standby display.
Manual Regeneration
• Press and hold the “SET/REGEN.” button for 3 seconds to initiate
a manual regeneration, and screen will display:
• When the valve reaches “Backwash” position, screen will display:

• When Backwash Remaining time reaches zero or any button is operated,
valve will be advanced to next cycle position: Brine, and screen will
display:
• When the valve reaches “Brine” position, screen will display:
When Brine Remaining time reaches zero or any button is operated, valve
will be advanced to the rest of cycle position: Rinse and Rell, just like
the above cycles.
Main Program
• Press “MENU” button at standby status, it will display the main page.
• Press the “/+” and “ / -” button to move the cursor to the desired
setting item.
• Press the “SET/REGEN.” button to enter the setting item.
