Description of keys
FoxKey Multifunction“Smart” key.Usefortransferringcalls
andpressunderthewordyouwantforextrafeatures
Alpha-searchkey ChangesnumberpadfromNumerictoAlphamode. This
isusedforthepowerfulAlpha-searchfeaturedescribedlater
End/breakkey/Backspace Clearsthedisplay,cancelsyourlastaction,takesyouback
toyourcallerafteraninquirycall,disconnectscall.Deletesthelast
digitorcharacterentered(forcorrection)
Speaker/ Volumecontrol Gooffhook,activatespeakerwhileonacall.Lowers/Raises
volumeofthespeakerand/orear-piece(RAPIDdoubleclickforLow
orHigh).
Last Number Redial Redialsthelast4diallednumbers(keeppressingtoscrollthrough
numbers)–Press leftsideofFoxkeyorlifthandsetwhendesired
oneisonthedisplay.
How to use your phone
ToAnswer a call Pickupthehandset.
ToDialInternally Dialtheextensionnumber,thenliftthehandsetorpressthespeakerkey.NBPickup
thehandsetwhen the otherpartyanswers–thereisnomicrophone!
ToDialExternally Dialtherequirednumber(prefixedby9foranoutsideline),thenliftthehandsetorpress
thespeakerkey.(NB Some companies use anotherdigitinsteadof9)
ToTransferacall PressthelefthandsideofFoxkey,thenDialtheextensionnumber,announcethecall,
ifacceptedthenreplacethehandset.(Youcanuse“Alpha-searchtofindanddialthe
extension–seelater)
Returntocaller Iftheenquirycallisrefused,returntothecallerbypressingtheendkey NBonceonly
Shuttle/toggle PressingthelefthandsideoftheFoxkeyalternatesbetweeninternalandexternal
party.(orpressMenu–then “Broker”)
Conference Answerormakeanexternalorinternalcall, informthe1stpartythatyouwillbesetting
upaconference,pressthelefthandsideoftheFoxkey,dialthe2ndparty(internalor
external),inform2ndpartythatyouaresettingupaconference,thenpressrighthand
sideoftheFoxkey(alternativelyyoucanpresstheMenukeyandthentheFoxkey
underthe“Conf “prompt)--thenallpartiesareconferenced. Uptofive*partiesand
yourselfcanbeaddedbyrepeatingtheabove.“Conference” willshowonthe
displaytoconfirm. *(2otherpartieswithAscotel2025/2045systems)
CallbackonBusy Whenabusyextensionisencountered,youwillhearthebusytone.Toseta“Call
Back”–presstheleftFoxkey (orpressMenuand “C_Back”)-thesystem
acknowledgementtoneswillbeheard. Replacethehandset.Yourdisplaywillshow
“CALL expected”. Whenthebusypartybecomesfree,yourphonewillring,.When
youanswerityourrequestedcallbackcallwillbeplacedtotheotherparty.Ifyouwishto
canceltheCallBackbeforeitmatures–presstheMenukey,and “reSeT”.NBthis
only works on internal calls&iftheyare not diverting to Voicemail.
TIP you can alsodo this when you havean external call on the line,when your
inquirycall gets a busytone, press the left Fox key,replace the handset, then
theexternalcallwill bewaitingagainst the busyextension. When that
extensionbecomesfreetheexternalcall will be presented to them. If the
extensionremainsbusy,afterthepre-set systemtime-out,theexternalcallwill
be returned to you. NB callbacks will not be available if extension is diverted to
Voicemail.

CallbackonNoReply Afterseveralrings,iftheotherparty does not answer, press the left Fox key, then a
callbackrequestwill be displayedontheirphone &theycancallyou.NB only internal
Pickup Topickuparingingcallinyourgroup–pressthekeymarked“Pickup”
Cut-offAlarm Ifyouhaveattemptedtotransferanexternalcall,andhavenotfollowedthecorrect
procedure,andthen replaced the handset, you may hear a continuous ringing (cut-off
alarm). Thiswillcontinuefor around 10 seconds,youmustpickupthehandsetagain
withinthistimeor the call will be lost.
CallPark Ifyouwishtoholdacallfor an extended time,youMUSTusethe“Park”facility.Whilst
(ExtendedHold) onacall,ifyouneedtoplacethecaller on hold for longer than10seconds,pressthe
rightFoxkey,thenreplacethehandset. The display will show“CALl parked“ When
youwishtoretrievethecall,pressthe Fox key anywhere – THENpickupthehandset.
Youcanmake/takeothercallswhile a call isparked.
NB If you tryto hold the call bypressing left Foxkeyfor longer than 10
seconds, you are in dangerof LOSING THE CALL and the cut-off alarmwill
soundasabove!
i An i appearingintherightofthedisplayindicatesthatthereis information present for
you. Pressthe
i key , andthe item will be indicated onthedisplay. Forexample
usually“CALL_LiST”istheitem. SopresstheFoxkeyunder“CALL_LiST“andthe
last4callsthat you have not answered will bedisplayed. Scrollarrowswillappearon
therightofthedisplay, press the Fox key under them to scroll through the number list.
Whenanameornumberyouwishtocallbackappearsonthedisplay, pick up the
handsetorpressthe left Fox key. (or Menu & CALLorDelete )
Alpha-dial/Search Thispowerfulsystemfeatureallowsquickaccesstoallthestorednumbers.It
or NameDial accessesthe system-wide directory, your private file and your programmedkeys.
Itoperatesinavery similar waytothenamesearchanddialfeatureonmanyMobile
Phones.Itsavesyouhavingtolookuporrememberyourcolleagues’numbers,and
savesalotoftime!
Touseit,simplyenterthefirst2 or 3 letters of the persons last name (using the letters
printedjustbelowthe digits of the dial pad) - NB You only need to press the key
with the letter you want ONCE each - Then press the Alpha key (ABC key). Any
namesthatmatchthecombinationof letters will appear in thedisplay.Ifmorethanone
nameisfound,thentheScrollArrows will appear (and the number of matches) –
PresstheFoxKeyunderthearrowstoscrollthroughthenamesuntil you see the one
youwantthenpresstheleftFoxKey,orMenu&“CALL”orliftthehandset,orpress
thespeakerkeyfor on-hook dial.

TIPS -Youcanshortenthesearchprocedurebyusing the # keyfor a space. So
forexample,tofindLaver, Fred yousimplypress 5, 2,#, 3 (L, A, space F). If
many matches are found, youcan then enter another one or two letters. Most
namescanbefoundwith 3or4keypresses.Youcanscrollthroughthelistof
matches(ifmorethanoneisfound)byusingtheUp/Down scrollarrows.
Youcanalsosearchwhilst youhaveacallon-line,eitherto give out the
numbertothecallerortransfer the call. The stored number is shown when you
pressthe
i key. NB This example assumes names are stored surname first.
MenuKey Pressingthistakesyouthroughthevariousextrafeaturesavailableonyourphone/
system.Justpressrepeatedlytill you see theitemyouwant,thenfollowtheprompts
onthedisplay– selecting by pressing the Foxkeyunderthedesireditem.(Forfull
details,see the full User Guide)
TIP - PressandholddowntheMenuKey for2-3secs, thiswill take you

straighttotheProgramming menu.

RingVolume Youcanadjustthe ring volume up or down while your phone is ringing by RAPID
doubleclickingthe + & - Key. OR youcangointotheprogrammingmenus(see
above)andpresstheMenukeytillyousee RING.Thenyoucanadjustthe Volume,
MelodyandSpeedby scrollingthroughtheoptions. With 4 melodies and4speeds
youget16differentRings.Thisenablesyoutodistinguish your ringing phone from a
colleague’s.
Keys Freekeyscanbe assigned as“Number keys”or “Function Keys”.AsaNumber
keyyoucanstore2entries–accessed by a single or doublepressrespectively(likea
mouse).AFunctionKeyallowsacommonlyusedsystemfeaturesuchasPick-upor
Nightservice.
PrivateFile Tomakeanew entry:PressandholddowntheABCkey for2-3secs,this will take
youstraighttothePrivate file entry mode (40 numbers). Press“New_ENtry”,enter
thenumber(don’tforgettoprefixwith 9 [or 6] ), press left Fox key, ENTER NAME”
promptappears, enterthenameusing the keypad (keys with multiple letters – press
repeatedlytogettheletteryouneed–likeamobile phone) , press left Foxkey,
“data_stored”confirmsyourentryisOK.
Youcan carryonaddingmoreentries(10total)or press the “END” key a few times to
exitprogrammingmode.
Tomodifyan entry, follow above procedure except press “view”, thenscrollthruyour
entriesbypressingtheright Foxkey.Whenyouseetheoneyouwant,presstheleft
FoxkeyandeditthenumberusingtheBackspacekey.Whenthenumberiscorrect,
presstheleftFoxkey,the name will appear, edit using theBackfollowtheprompts.
Todeleteanentry: Press and hold down the ABC key for 2-3secs.Press“view”,
scrolltotherequired entry, then press the MENU key twice, then “Delete”

When a stored partycalls you, their NAME will show on yourdisplay (unless
theyhave barred their number).
VoiceMail Todivertyourphonetovoicemail,.Pressthe“DiverttoVoicemail”key (doorsymbol).
Pressingthis key willtogglediversiontoVoicemailonandoff.Ifyouhavebeenlefta
message“Message voice+”willappearonyourdisplay, then follow the procedure
below.
NBThisnoteonly
appliestosystems
fittedwith the
AVS5150internal
voicemailsystem.
Seeuserguides
Toaccessyourvoicemailbox,pressMENU–thentheFoxkeyundel“LISTEN”–with
thehandseteitheron or off hook. You will bepromptedforyour4digitPINcode
(defaultis1234),thenpress1tolisten to messages, 2, to carryoutchangestoyour
mailbox or3 tochangeyourgreeting.Youwillhearpromptsforthese.Afterthis,
simplyfollowtheprompts.Don’tpressFoxkey under“Delete”–thissimplydeletesthe
Notificationmessagewhichisdone automatically when a message is accessed..
Tip- you can press the digits immediately if you know thesequence – you
don’t have to wait for allthe prompt messages! Eg. To changeor record your
greeting, access your mailbox, enter your PIN and type 3,2, this takes you
straighttothegreetingmenus.

Missed Calls List Ifyoumissacall(whichhasnot gone to voicemail), then “Call_List”willappearin
thedisplay.PresstheFoxkey underthatandyou can then scroll through thelast10
missedcalls(wherethenumberhasbeenpresented) bypressing right Fox keyand
thenpressleftFox key when the desired name/number is on the display.
ReceivedCallsList PresstheMenukeytwice,then“answered_calls”willshowonthedisplay.You
canthenscrollthrough the last 4 received calls(wherethenumberhasbeen
presented)andthen proceed as Missed calls above.
