When seated in the chair
1. Avoidtheriskof overbalancingthechair bymaking surethatyoudonotshiftyour
weightdistributiontothepointwherethechair maybecomeunstableandtipover.
Do notreachor leanover from thechair asthiswillcausethecentreof gravityto
shift.
2. Whennotdriving thechair, makesurethepowertothewheelchair isturnedOFF
asthiswill preventanyunintendedmovementbythechair thatmaybecausedby
youor otherswhocomeintocontactwiththejoystickcontroller. Thiswill also
reducetheriskof theelectricbrakesbeing releasedor unintendedmovementof the
chair through electromagneticinterference, asdescribedbelow.
Accident prevention and your safety
Tohelppreventaccidentsarisingthrough unforeseenevents, travelling over rough or
unevenground, encounteringobstacles etc, westrongly recommendthatyouwear a seat
beltwhendrivingyour power wheelchair.
Transport in a motor vehicle
Itisnotrecommendedthatusersof wheelchairsbetransportedinmotor vehicles while
seatedintheir wheelchair.
Itisimportantthatyour Traxx 2chair iscorrectly securedbyanapprovedrestraintsystem
whenitistransportedina motor vehicle. Thecontroller shouldbeturnedoff andthepark
brakes applied. Failuretodosomayresultinpersonalinjuryor propertydamage.
Obstacles and driving hazards
Youmayencounterobstacles or hazardswhendrivingyour chair. Itisimportanttoremain
observantfor obstacles or hazardssuchas:
•objectsontheground.
•rampsor slopes whichyou cross thatmaycausethechair tochangeitslateralor
longitudinalstability. Donotgoupor downinclinesthathavewater, ice, oilor
other slipperysubstances onthesurface
•loose, slipperyor roughsurfaces.
Suchobstaclesor hazardsmaymakethechair unstableandtipover, whichmaycause
injurytoyourself or others. Planahead; donotdrivethechair onanysurfaceif youhave
doubtsaboutthesurfaceandwhetheritmayaffectthechair stabilityor your abilityto
controlthewheelchair ina safemanner.
Do notattempt toclimbrampsor slopes wheretheangleisgreater than10 degrees
Driving over kerbs or single steps
Thechair wasnotdesignedfor climbingor descendingkerbsor singlestepsof morethan
50mm (2”). Toclimbor descendkerbsor singlestepsof greater heightmaycausethechair
totipover or for you tofall outof thechair, possibly resulting ininjurytoyourself or to
others. Whenyouencounter a kerbor singlestep,trytoavoiditbyfinding a rampor
another wayaroundit.
Itisstrongly recommendedthatyouhavesomeoneassistyoubystabilizingthechair when
climbingor descending a kerbor singlestep!
Itisimportantthatanykerbor stepisapproachedatrightangles andatslowspeedto
reducetheriskof makingthechair unstableor losingcontrol of thedrivingof thechair.

Public roads, highways and parking areas
