Het Ahrend Portal meubel is zo ontworpen en gefabri-
ceerd dat u er comfortabel en efcient mee kunt werken.
Deze gebruikershandleiding geeft u op de rose onder-
grond informatie en legt daarbij onderaan de pagina uit
hoe u deze Ahrend Portal tafel praktisch en veilig kunt
gebruiken.
Wij vertrouwen erop dat u prettig zult werken met dit
meubel.
User manual

The information with the pink background in this manual
tells you all about your Ahrend Portal workstation and
below the pages is explained how to use it safely.

Ahrend Portal
Verschillende tafel- en pootuitvoeringen
Ahrend Portal tafels kunnen een zwevend of een inlig-
gend blad zijn uitgevoerd. (zie de afb. 1 en 2). Dit maakt
voor de verstellingen en het gebruik van de tafel geen
verschil.
Een Ahrend Portal tafel kan een vaste hoogte hebben of
op drie manieren in hoogte variabel zijn. U herkent dit
verschil in het verticale deel van de tafelpoten (zie de afb.
3 t/m 6).
Het vaststellen van de juiste tafel-
hoogte bij zittend werken.
U gaat ontspannen op de rand van
een tafel zitten, zodat de knieholte
tegen de rand van het blad stoot.
Nu kunnen drie belangrijke maten
worden gemeten:
Maat A: de afstand van de on-
derkant van de schoenhak tot de
bovenkant van de tafel.
Maat B: de afstand van het tafelvlak
tot de onderkant van de ontspan-
nen gebogen onderarm naast het
lichaam, in horizontale positie.
Maat C is de afstand tussen het
tafelvlak en een lineaal die u over
de bovenbenen legt. Tel daar 5 cm
bij. Als C + 5 cm samen meer is dan
maat B, dient u deze waarde te
gebruiken in plaats van maat B.
Uw juiste werkbladhoogte is gelijk
aan de som van de maten A en B.

Vaste tafelhoogte
Een Ahrend Portal tafel met vaste hoogte (afb. 3) is voor
een grote groep van gebruikers uitstekend bruikbaar
voor normale administratieve arbeid en voor bespreek-
en vergadertafels. Een vaste hoogte van 75 cm is
optimaal geschikt voor mensen met een lichaamslengte
tussen ongeveer 1.70 en 1.85 m. Kleinere en langere
mensen wordt geadviseerd een in hoogte instelbare of
verstelbare tafel te gebruiken.
Juiste ergonomische tafelhoogte
Raadpleeg alvorens de hoogte van uw tafel te verstellen
het werkbladhoogte-advies hieronder.
Staand vergaderen
Ahrend Portal heeft ook de mogelijkheid van tafels met
een vaste hoogte van 110 cm hoog (met zwevend blad
113 cm hoog) waar staand aan kan worden vergaderd.

Waterpas stellen
Alle verstelbare Ahrend Portal poot-
typen zijn voorzien van justeerdop-
pen die het mogelijk maken de tafel
waterpas te stellen. Door de jus-
teerdop met de klok mee te draaien
wordt de tafel hoger ingesteld. De
maximale uitdraaihoogte is 15 mm.

Met slinger hoogte verstellen (HV)
De slinger voor de hoogteverstel-
ling bevindt zich onder het blad en
kan er eenvoudig onder vandaan
genomen worden.
Vanuit zitpositie zijn links en rechts
gaten in de pootjukken zichtbaar
waarin de slinger gestoken kan
worden.

Elektrisch de hoogte verstellen
(HVE)
Elektrisch in hoogte verstelbare
tafels worden bediend met een
elektronische schakelaar. Raadpleeg
de separate handleiding voor het
gebruik van deze HVE schakelaars.
De ingestelde hoogte kunt u ae-
zen op de onderzijde van de poten.
Na gebruik klikt u de slinger weer
terug onder het blad.
Om het werkblad in hoogte te
verstellen, neemt u de slinger onder
het werkblad vandaan en plaatst u
deze (naar keuze links of rechts van
u) in het gat in het pootjuk. Draai
aan de slinger om het werkblad tot
de gewenste hoogte te verstellen.

De hoogte instellen (HI)
De draaiknop een aantal slagen
naar links losdraaien totdat het
onderste deel van de poot in- of
uitgeschoven kan worden tot
de gewenste hoogte. Daarna de
knop weer voorzichtig naar rechts
vastdraaien, waarbij de as van de
knop in het corresponderende gat
gedraaid wordt.
Hoogte-instelbare tafels (HI)
Met een Ahrend Portal tafel die in hoogte instelbaar is
(afb. 4) kunt u de bladhoogte op uw lichaamsafmetingen
afstemmen. De hoogte is in stappen van 1 cm instelbaar
tussen 62 en 85 cm.
Met slinger in hoogte verstelbare tafels (HV)
Met een Ahrend Portal tafel die mechanisch in hoogte
verstelbaar is (afb. 5 en 6) kunt u op ieder moment de
bladhoogte precies op uw lichaamsafmetingen of houding
afstemmen. Zo kunnen verschillende mensen dezelfde
werktafel op verschillende tijden optimaal gebruiken.
Door aan de hendel te draaien kunt u de hoogte van de
tafel aanpassen van 62 tot 85 cm.
Elektrisch in hoogte verstelbare tafels (HVE)
Met een Ahrend Portal tafel die elektronisch in hoogte
verstelbaar is (afb. 6 en 7) kunt u op ieder moment de
bladhoogte precies op uw lichaamsafmetingen of houding
afstemmen. Zo kunnen verschillende mensen dezelfde
werktafel op verschillende tijden optimaal gebruiken. De
schakelaar aan de bladrand bedient de tafelhoogte van
62 tot 85 cm en er kunnen vier voorkeurstanden in het
geheugen mee worden opgeslagen.
De hoogte van uw stoel
Stel de hoogte van uw stoel in op uw maat A (zie ‘Het
vaststellen van de juiste tafelhoogte’). Gebruik als meet-
punt de voorrand van de zitting in het midden.
Voetensteun
In de praktijk wordt een lage instelling van de tafel bij
kleine mensen niet prettig gevonden, omdat men niet
lager wil zitten dan collega’s. In dat geval kan toch een
ergonomisch juiste zitsituatie bereikt worden met behulp
van een voetensteun. Stel de stoel en de tafel net zoveel
hoger in als de gemiddelde hoogte van de voetensteun.

De gebruiker en de elektricatie
Het kan gewenst zijn dat u als gebruiker van de Ahrend
Portal werkplek zelf iets verandert aan de elektricatie.
Bijvoorbeeld een stekker in een contactdoos steken of
eruit halen of overtollige snoerlengten netjes wegwerken.
Veiligheid
Veiligheid staat voorop bij het electriceren van een
werkplek. Daarom zijn alle onderdelen die in contact
komen met snoeren en kabels aan de randen afgerond.
Ongelukken, zoals struikelen over snoeren die over de
vloer liggen, kunnen worden voorkomen door de snoeren
netjes weg te bergen in de voorzieningen die Ahrend
Portal daarvoor biedt. Weggewerkte snoeren maken de
werkplek veiliger, het staat netter en de werkplek is voor
schoonmakers beter toegankelijk.
Aansluitpunten
Uw werkplek kan op verschillende manieren van aansluit-
punten voor electriciteit en computernetwerken zijn voor-
zien. Zo kan onder de werkplek een kabelbox gehangen
zijn. In dat geval is de werkplek-apparatuur aangesloten
op contactdozen in deze boxen en kan men daar ook
overtollige apparatensnoerlengten in opbergen.
Openklapbare kabelboxen
Voor een goede bereikbaarheid van
de inhoud kunnen de kabelboxen
naar voren of naar achteren
worden opengeklapt. Indien nodig
eerst een verrijdbaar ladeblok
verwijderen.

Onderhoud
Deze aanwijzingen voor het onderhoud zijn bedoeld voor
zowel de professionele schoonmaker als de gebruiker van
de werkplek. Gebruik nooit wasbenzine, aceton, terpen-
tine, petroleum of andere agressieve stoffen, oplosmid-
delen of schuurmiddelen.
Service
Voor verhuizingen of wijzigingen van de werkplek raden
wij u aan contact op te nemen met uw leverancier.
Bladen reinigen
Normale verontreiniging (kofe,
thee, potlood, lippenstift, vingeraf-
drukken, vet, wateroplosbare lijmen
en viltschrijverinkt e.d.) verwijderen
met een schone, vochtige doek. Bij
hardnekkiger vlekken wat zachte
zeep in het water oplossen en een
zachte nylon borstel gebruiken.
Oplosmiddelhoudende lak, lijm,
nagellak, stempelinkt, ballpointinkt
e.d. verwijderen met een organisch
oplosmiddel, zoals spiritus.
Geneerde bladen reinigen
Indien nodig reinigen met een
schone, vochtige doek. Eventueel bij
hardnekkiger vlekken wat zachte
zeep in het water oplossen.
Gelakte metalen onderdelen
reinigen
Alle gekleurde metalen delen kunt
u reinigen met een zachte, even-
tueel vochtige doek. Hardnekkiger
vlekken van lijm, viltstift, ballpoint-
inkt en dergelijke met lauw water
met wat zachte zeep behandelen,
eventueel met spiritus.

Ahrend Portal
A range of leg models
Ahrend Portal tables: with ooting and interposed tops
(gs. 1 and 2). For all functions this makes no difference.
Ahrend Portal tables are available as xed height models
or in three height-adjustable versions. You can see the dif-
ference in the vertical part of the table legs (gs. 3 to 6).
Working out the correct table
height
Sit on a table in a relaxed man-
ner with the backs of your knees
against the edge of the table. Three
important dimensions can now be
measured.
Dimension A:
the distance from the bottom of
the heel of the shoe to the top of
the table.
Dimension B:
the distance from the top of the
table to the underside of the elbow,
sitting upright, with the arm along-
side the body and bent at an angle
of 90 degrees.
Dimension C:
the distance between the top of the
table and a ruler placed across the
thighs, plus 5 cm. If this is greater
than dimension B, you should use
dimension C instead of dimension B.
The right work surface height for
you is the sum of dimensions A and
B (or A and C) rounded off to the
nearest even number.

Levelling
All Ahrend Portal adjustable table
leg versions have levelling feet. Turn
the foot clockwise to raise it.
The maximum adjustment height is
15 mm.

Fixed table height
A xed height Ahrend 500 table (g. 3) is ideal for the
great majority of users engaged in normal ofce work and
for meeting and conference tables.
A xed height of 75 cm is correct for people who are
between about 1.70 and 1.85 m tall (5ft 6ins to 6ft 1ins).
Shorter and taller people are advised to use a table in one
of the height-adjustable versions.
Correct ergonomic table height
Consult the table height advice below before adjusting
the table.
Standing meeting
Ahrend Portal offers the possibility of standing meeting
at a table with xed height of 110 cm (113 cm for the
ooting tops).

Adjusting the height of HV-legs
The rotating handle can be found
clicked in a store position under the
table top. From sitting position you
can reach the handle holes at your
right or left hand in the legs.
Adjusting the height of HVE/SHE-
legs
To adjust tables with an electronic
switch consult the separate manual
for the use of this switch.
The height of the table can be read
on the lower part of the leg.Click
the handle back under the table top

Pull the handle out of the clamp.
Stick it into the opening at the top
of a leg and turn until the desired
height is reached.

Adjusting the height of HI-legs
Turn the round knob just enough
to release the lower part of the leg
so it can slide up or downwards.
Fasten the button carefully after
positioning lower part of the leg in
the desired height.
Height-adjustable tables (HI)
A height-adjustable Ahrend 500 table (g. 4) can be adjus-
ted to suit your personal requirements. The height can be
adjusted from 62 to 85 cm.
Mechanical variable height tables (HV)
A variable height Ahrend Portal table (gs. 5 and 6) lets
you adjust the height of the work surface mechanically to
suit your own height and posture at any time. This means
that different people can use the same work table at dif-
ferent times in maximum comfort. By turning the handle
the height can be adjusted from 62 to 85 cm.
Electronic variable height tables (HVE)
A variable height Ahrend 500 table (gs. 6 and 7) lets you
adjust the height of the work surface electronically to suit
your own height and posture at any time.
This means that different people can use the same work
table at different times in maximum comfort.
The switch on the table edge operates the mechanism
that adjusts the table height from 62 to 85 cm. Several
preferred positions can be stored in the memory.
The height of your chair
Adjust the height of your chair seat to your dimension A
(see ‘Working out the correct table height’). Measure from
a point in the middle of the front edge of the seat.
Footrest
In practice a low table height is often disliked, perhaps
because a person does not want to be sitting lower than
his or her colleagues.
In this case an ergonomically correct sitting posture can
still be achieved with the aid of a footrest. Adjust the
table and chair by raising them a distance equal to the
average height of the footrest.

Users and cable management
Users may themselves sometimes want to change some
aspect of the wiring of their Ahrend Portal workstation.
For example plug an item of equipment into a socket or
unplug it, or conceal surplus lengths of cable tidily.
Safety
Safety must be the prime concern in the wiring of a work-
station. For this reason, every component that comes into
contact with wires and cables has rounded edges and the
item of furniture can be earthed as a whole.
Accidents caused by tripping over cables and exes on the
oor can be prevented by concealing the cables in the
facilities specically provided by the Ahrend Portal range.
Concealed cables make the workstation safer, it looks
much tidier and it is easier to clean.
Connections
Your workstation can be tted with connections to the
power supply and to computer networks in a cable dump
suspended under the workstation (g. 8). The workstation
hardware is plugged into sockets in these dumps, and you
can also conceal excess cable in them.
Hinged cable dumps
Cable dumps provide space in which
the excess length of equipment
and power cables can be tidily
concealed.
It may sometimes be necessary to
wheel a mobile drawer pedestal out
of the way rst.
For ease of access to the cables in
them these dumps can be opened
on two sides. Release the two
sliding handles at one sides of the
cable dump and open it carefully

Maintenance
These instructions for maintenance are intended for both
the professional cleaner and the user of the workstation.
Never use benzine, acetone, turpentine, petrol or other
aggressive substances, solvents or abrasive cleansers.
Service
We advise you to contact your supplier when moving of-
ces or reconguring the workstation.
Cleaning work surfaces
Normal stains (coffee, tea, pencil,
lipstick, nger marks, grease, water
soluble glue, felt tip pen ink etc.)
can be removed with a clean, damp
cloth. If necessary, a little soft soap
may be added to the water and a
soft nylon brush may be used to
treat more stubborn stains.
Solvent-based lacquer, glue, nail
varnish, ballpoint pen ink etc.
should be removed with an organic
solvent, such as methylated spirits.
Cleaning veneered work surfaces
Wipe with a clean, damp cloth if
necessary. A little soft soap may be
added to the water to treat more
stubborn stains.
Cleaning enamelled metal parts
All coloured metal parts may be
cleaned with a soft cloth, damp-
ened if necessary. More stubborn
stains caused by glue, felt tip pens,
ballpoints etc. are best treated with
lukewarm water and a little soft
soap. Methylated spirit may be used
if necessary.
