INTRODUCTION
Thank you for deciding to purchase the Quiet Knight powered, width adjustable mattress elevator
from Aidapt. The Quiet Knight Mattress Raiser is manufactured from the finest materials and
components available.
When used correctly it is designed to give many years of reliable, trouble-free service.
NB. This equipment must be installed by a competent person.
Maximum User Weight: 190 kg (30 stone)
Do not exceed the weight limit stated – doing so could put the user at risk.
LIMITATIONS OF USE
1. Your Quiet Knight is designed to fit most types of beds of various widths from 2’6” (729
mm) through to 5’0” (1524 mm). Some types of bed, e.g. metal framed beds, may not
be suitable for the Quiet Knight, if you are in any doubt, please contact your supplier
before use.
2. The Quiet Knight must not be used in conjunction with any form of electric under
blanket.
3. The Quiet Knight is an ideal product for home, residential care and nursing home
situations; it has been tested for low to medium hazard use.
4. The Quiet Knight has been tested for a maximum user weight of 190 kg (30 stone). For
safety reasons you must not exceed this maximum user weight and you must also
ensure that the unit is sitting stable and square to the bed, and that all securing straps
are properly secured as per the instructions below.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
1. FRAME. Your Quiet Knight is constructed from high quality strong steel tube and flat
metal plate. The unit incorporates a lifting device known as an actuator which comes
ready fitted: It is the actuator that gives the Quiet Knight its raising and lowering action.
The Mark II Quiet Knight Mattress Variator is fitted with an ‘anti crush device’ as
standard. This device reduces the risk of entrapment between the base and pivoting
section of the unit, however you must always still use caution and take care when using
the product.
Always check for any obstacles before use and do not allow children to play with
the Quiet Knight.
2. HANDSET. The Handset is ergonomically designed to feel comfortable to the hand, it
has ‘easy touch’ buttons with clear arrows for raising and lowering the unit.
3. STRAPS. Each Quiet Knight comes complete with four sets of straps and buckles,
which must be correctly fitted before use.
The straps may limit access to divan drawers once in place, always ensure the
straps are properly resecured if they are undone at any time.

HOW TO FIT YOUR QUIET KNIGHT
NB. Do not remove the plastic locking transit strap fitted to the rear of your quiet
knight until fitted securely to the bed.
1. Firstly remove the mattress from the bed base and pull out the bed (away from the wall)
to allow yourself greater access to fit the Quiet Knight.
2. Place the Quiet Knight onto the bed squarely with the raised section facing the head of
the bed. See Fig. 1.

2.1. Fitting your Quiet Knight to 4’, 4’6” and 5’ wide beds (1220 mm, 1375 mm and
1524 mm wide beds) only:
Firstly, remove the four pin clips which secure the two chromium plated side
extenders on the top of the unit. Pull out to the extenders so that they are level with
the edge of the bed ensuring that you do not exceed the last punched hole on the
Quiet Knight frame. Refix the pin clips to secure ensuring that they pass completely
through the frame and extension bars.
2.2. Fitting to 2’6” and 3’ beds, (724mm and 915mm beds) only. You do not need to
adjust the chromium plated extenders.
2.3. The extension bars to the rear of the Quiet Knight base are packed for transit. Pull
out the bars to the desired width and turn the tubes so that the triangular sections
are pointing downwards. Insert the two pin clips provided.
3. Fitting the two sideways base straps:
Firstly take the small strap section (approximately 285 mm long) comprising buckle,
strap and plastic loop. Pass the first small strap through the triangular part of chromium
extender piece and pass the buckle back through the plastic loop, so as to tie the small
strap to the triangular extender piece.
Repeat the above operation but, pass the small strap through the elongated slot on the
base of the elevator.
Now, using the long straps, (locking buckle, long strap and small loop), repeat the first
steps but fitting the long strap to the opposite triangular part of the strap and to the
opposite integral slot. Pass the long straps traversley (side to side) under the bed base,
bringing them up to clip into the small straps. Tighten off by pulling the strap through the
locking buckle.
Once tight, tie off for extra security.
4. Fitting the length-way strap:
Firstly take the short strap and pass through the integral painted metal rectangular loop
located centrally at the rear of the unit, then pass the strap back through the plastic
strap loop to secure. Then, take the long strap and attach to the centre of the front of
base frame, repeating the action of the small strap.
Pass the fixed strap lengthways under the bed base, bringing it up to secure with the
buckle end secured to the rear of the elevator tighten off and knot off to secure.

5. How to fit the mattress strap:
Take the small strap and loop around the chrome extender side pieces.
Repeat the action on the opposite chrome extender. Place the mattress back onto the
top section of the elevator. Pass the strap over the mattress and secure into the small
strap, tighten and knot for additional safety.
Now remove the transit strap (plastic cable ties) to the rear of the Quiet Knight. Be sure
to wear protective eye wear when removing the transit strap.
WARNING! Make sure that you DO NOT extend the mattress support extender beyond
the sides of the mattress, as this will reduce the cover of support.
