The purpose of this document is to provide clarification
about how the ENERGY STAR marks and ENERGY STAR
name should be used in all mediums. These include, but
are not limited to, print advertisements, Web sites, product
catalogs, and specification sheets.
This document provides a partial list of guidelines, based
on the most common misuses of the ENERGY STAR
marks. Please note that this document is intended to
supplement, rather than replace, the ENERGY STAR Brand
Book. Please review the ENERGY STAR Brand Book in its
entirety at www.energystar.gov/logouse.
This document also presents additional examples
of common mark misuses and how each should be
corrected, as well as how to report mark violations. The
final section of this guide provides some helpful tips on
how to write about ENERGY STAR.
The ENERGY STAR identity is a valuable asset, and like any
asset with appreciable value, it must be properly used and
protected. Partners should be mindful of how they use the
ENERGY STAR marks in all communication and outreach
materials. Ensuring that the marks are properly used
protects every ENERGY STAR partner’s investment in the
program—and consumer confidence in the
ENERGY STAR brand.
KEY GUIDELINES
s Neither the marks nor the ENERGY STAR name may
be used in any other organization name, product
name, service name, domain name, or Web site title.
s The marks may never be associated with products,
homes, or buildings that do not qualify as
ENERGY STAR.
s The marks may not be altered, cut apart, separated,
or otherwise distorted in perspective or appearance.
This includes removing the words ENERGY STAR
from the mark.
s If your organization is not an ENERGY STAR partner,
but offers ENERGY STAR certified products, you
must include the name of the manufacturer near the
ENERGY STAR mark.
s The color for the mark is ENERGY STAR blue (100%
Cyan); the Web color equivalent is hex color
#00AEEF. Alternate versions in black or reversed out
to white are allowed, but Cyan is preferred.
s The marks may be resized, but the proportions
must be maintained. The lettering inside the marks
must remain legible when reproduced for print or
electronic formats.

Warranty Registration
Congratulations on purchasing a new Horizon Dehumidifier. Your new dehumidifier comes
with an extensive warranty plan. To register, simply visit:
www.horizondehumidifiers.com/warranty.
Be sure to note your dehumidifier serial number as you will need it for registration.
•The Horizon Series Dehumidifier must always be connected using a grounded electrical
connection (as required for all electrical appliances). If non-grounded wiring is used, all li-
ability reverts to owner and the warranty is voided.
•Horizon Dehumidifiers should only be maintained and repaired by a qualified technician.
•Horizon Dehumidifiers are only intended for operation when oriented with the unit sitting
on its feel and level. Operating the unit in any other orientation could allow water to flood
electrical components.
•Always unplug dehumidifier before moving.
•If there is a chance that water flooded the dehumidifier, it should be opened and allowed
to dry thoroughly before reconnecting to electrical power and restarting.
•To ensure proper operation, neither the inlet nor discharge should be positioned against a
wall. The inlet requires a minimum of 12” clearance and the discharge required a mini-
mum of 36” clearance.
•The best option for proper diffusion of air throughout the room is to have the discharge
blowing away from a wall and the inlet pulling air in parallel to a wall.
•Do not insert any objects or fingers into the inlet or discharge.
•All work on the dehumidifier should be done with the unit “off” and unplugged.
•Do not use water to clean the exterior. To clean unit, unplug from power, then use a damp
cloth to wipe exterior.
•Do not stand on machine or use as a device to hang clothes.
•Typically, the inlet filter doesn’t need to be cleaned more than once per month.

Safety Notes

Identification#
For future reference, write down the model, serial number, and date of purchase for your
dehumidifier. This is extremely helpful if you need to seek assistance in the future. The
data label on the side of your unit has key characteristics of your specific unit.

Electrical Supply
Power Supply: 115 V, 60 Hz AC, Single Phase
Outlet Requirement: 3-Prong, GFI
Circuit Protector: 15 Amp
WARNING: 120 Volts AC may cause serious injury from electric shock.
To ensure safety:
1. 1. Disconnect electrical power before servicing
2. 2. Only plug unit into grounded electrical circuit
3. 3. Do not use extension cord
4. 4. Do not use a plug adapter.
Principle of Operation
#The Horizon Series Dehumidifiers utilizes its integral humidistat to monitor the condi-
tioned space. When the relative humidity goes above the selected set point, the dehumidi-
fier will energize. Air is drawn across an evaporator coil, which is cooler than the dew point
of air. This means moisture will condense out of the air. The air is then reheated through
the condenser coil and distributed back into the room.
Installation
#The area to be controlled should be sealed with a vapor barrier. If unit is installed in a
crawlspace, all vents should be sealed.
3

WARNING: Do not install your dehumidifier in a corrosive environment. Some liquid va-
por barriers dry via “solvent evaporation”. Always make sure that barrier is completely dry
and area is throughly ventilated before installing dehumidifier.
Step #1: Place dehumidifier on a level surface.
#If the unit is handled in such a manner that the compressor did not remain in the up-
right position, it is necessary to place on a level surface and wait a minimum of 2 hours be-
fore turning the unit “on”
#NOTE: XG90 Dehumidifiers can’t sit directly on floor unless the unit is feeding directly
into a sump pump next to it. Elevation is required to allow gravity flow of condensate water
drain.
Step #2: Set Up Drain Line
#The drain line should be routed to a suitable drain on the outside. It must flow down
to a drain without any loops, dips, or valleys.
Recommended Drain Option-Transition to PVC Pipe
1. 1. Cut a piece of 3/4” OD PVC that is approx. 6” long.
2. 2. Insert PVC into a 3/4” elbow, then attach to a 3/4” OD length of PVC to drain.
(Note: Keep the length of PVC drain pipe to a minimum)
3. 3. Insert the open end of the tubing into the 3/4” pipe so that it does not extend into
the elbow fitting. For proper flow, a minimum downward slope of 1” per 10’ run is re-
quired. (Note: If a proper downward angle is not possible, then it is recommended to
use a Titan XP90 which includes an integrated condensate pump or utilize an exter-
nal condensate pump).
4. 4. Support the PVC tubing so that it maintains a smooth downward flow to drain.
5. 5. Always test the drain before leaving installation area.
Step #3: Plug unit into 15 amp grounded circuit.

dehumidifier could be installed in a laundry room and ducted into a living room. The remote would then be mounted in the living room so the remote sensor can control the humidity
and provide easy controls for the user.
Another useful application for the remote control is if the dehumidifier is in area that’s difficult to access on a regular basis. For instance, if your dehumidifier is installed in
your crawl space, the remote could be mounted in your living space or garage. This provides you with an easy way to monitor the dehumidifier

The symbol on the display board indicates that the sensor on the
dehumidifiers is being utilized.
Use this button if you want to drain the unit manually. Shutting the unit down for the season would be a great example of when you may want to manually drain the unit. If
shutting down for an extended period, it is recommended that you turn the unit “off” and let it sit for 1 hour to allow the coils to drain. Then press the “P” button to drain the pump
reservoir. If the unit will be sitting in an area that could freeze, it is best to use a wet/dry vacuum to drain the reservoir as much as possible to avoid potential freezing issues.
Alternatively, you could do pump maintenance at the end of the season and leave the reservoir completely dry after you service the pump.”
