To optimize the performance of this unit, please
read through this manual carefully.
In addition to this operating instructions manual,
be sure to refer to the separate installation and
connections manuals as well.
PRECAUTIONS
●This unit is designed to be operated on a 12-volt
DC negative-ground electrical system only.
●To prevent short-circuiting, disconnect the
negative car battery terminal until the unit has
been mounted and connected completely.
●When replacing the fuse, be sure to use one
whose amperage rating is identical. Use of a
fuse of higher amperage may cause serious
damage to the unit.
●Do NOT attempt to disassemble this unit. Laser
rays from the optical pickup are dangerous to
the eyes.
●Make sure that pins or other foreign objects do
not get inside the unit; they may cause
malfunctioning, or asafety hazard such as
electrical shock or exposure of laser rays.
.When your car was parked in direct sunlight
resulting in aconsiderable rise in temperature
inside the car, allow the unit to cool off before
operating it.
●Keep the volume at such alevel that you can
hear outside warning sounds (horns, sirens,
etc.).

●
Adefective orsoiled disc inserted into the unit
can cause sound to drop out during playback.
●Handle the disc by holding its inner and outer
edges.
●Do NOT touch the surface of the unlabeled side
of the disc.
●Do NOTstick paper or tape etc. on the surface.
●Do NOT expose the disc to dkect sunlight or
excessive heat.
●Clean the disc before playback. Wipe the disc
from the center outward with acleaning cloth.

●Smaller 3-inch (8cm) CDs cannot be played on
this unit. And do not use an adaptor as it may
cause malfunctioning.

DETACHING AND
ATTACHING THE FRONT
PANEL

You can detach the front panel from the unit and
carry it with you when you leave your car
unattended.
When you carty the front panel out of your car,
use the supplied carrying case.
Before detaching the front panel, remove the disc
to prevent possible damage to thle unit.

Press PWR to turn the unit off.
While supporting the front panel-with
one hand, press I?Ito rele!aseone side
of the panel. Care must be taken not to
drop the panel. It may sudldenlyeject at
this point.
When the front panel is Wted from the
unit, remove it by pulling away from the
unit.

Security Lamp
When the front panel is detached, you can find an
LED lamp on the front side of the unit. This lamp
is designed to deter theft, and continues to flash
when the front panel is detached. This unit is not
equipped with any other security systems such
as asecuriw alarm, so there are limitations to its
effectiveness.

Do NOT touch the connector on the reverse
side of the front panel, as doing so may
contaminate the connector and cause apoor
connection resulting in amalfunction.

frequency range.

Note
The “ST” indicator lights up when the tuned-in
station is broadcasting in stereo and the reception
is good.

Press BAND to select adesired bsnd
from among FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and
AM2.
Press and hold A.ME for more than 2
seconds to activate the automatic
presetting function.
This unit can store up to 6stations in memory
for the preset station buttons 1to 6with “LO
(local) indicator lighting up.
Ifthe unit could not search for all of 6stations,
“LO (local) indicator goes off and starts
searching for weaker stations again.
Use this function to automatically preset up to 6
stations each for FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2
(up to atotal of 30 stations).
●When auto memory is completed, the station
stored in the preset station button 1is tuned in.
●To stop auto memory, press A.ME again.
To checkthepresetstations(presetscan)
●If you wish to check the preset stations, press
A.ME forlessthan 2seconds. The preset stations
stored in memory will be tuned in for 5seconds
each in order.
●To stop this function, press A.ME again or press
any of the preset station buttons 1to 6.

Active tuning reception control (ATRC)
This unit automatically suppresses FM noise
caused by varying signal strength resulting from
movement of the car.
●The built-in automatic blending circuit mixes the
left and right channel signals according to the
strength of the reception. At the same time, the
high-cut circuit activates to maintain the sound
quality.
●If the reception becomes even weaker, the unit
automatically switches to Monaural mode, to
reduce noise.
Repeat these procedures to preset up to 6stations
each for FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1, and AM2.
●If you try to preset astation on a preset station
button on which another station of the same
band has already been preset, the previously
preset station will be erased.

You can timer-activate the radio for adaily radio
program. The unit turnson and off in Radio mode
at the preset time automatically.

indicator disappears.
To check the setting
With the unit off, press MY INFO.
The turn-on time, followed by the radio frequency
and the turn-off time, appears in the display
window each for 1second, then the unit turns off.
Notes
●Even if the unit is in amode other thah Radio
mode, the unit switches to Radio mode and
tunes in the preset radio program at the preset
time automatically.
●Even if you are listening to aradio program with
this function, pressing the following buttons
switches the unit to other mode:
—Pressing BAND changes the unit to Radio
mode.
—Pressing CD changes the unit to CD Play
mode.
—Pressing TAPE/MD IN changes the unit to
TAPE/MD IN mode.
If you switch modes with these buttons, the unit
does not turn off at the turn-off time of the timer.

Notes
●Smaller 3-inch (8 cm) CDs cannot be played on

●When you inserla disc, CD play starts at the first
track on the disc. When switching back from
Radio mode, etc. if you press CD with adisc
inserted, CD play starts at the point on the disc
where it had stopped previously.
Press REP1 during CD play.
The’’REPEAT” indicator lights upandthecurrently
selected track is played repeatedly.
Press REP1 again to cancel Repeat play.
Note
If Repeat play is not activated, all the tracks on
the disc are played repeatedly.
Press INT during CD play.
The “SCAN indicator lights up and the first 10
seconds of all the tracks on the disc are played in
order.
When the desired track isfound, press INT again.
The unit returns to the normal CD play.
Press RANDOM during CD play.
The “RANDOM indicator lights up and the tracks
on the disc are played randomly.
Press RANDOM again to cancel Random play.
Note
During Random play, even if ~is pressed
repeatedly, the track currently in play is restarted.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Reset button
The Reset button is visible when you detach the
front panel. Try pressing this button if aCD does
not operate properly. When you press this burton,
use the tip of apointed object such as apencil or
toothpick.
Note that the memory contents, however, will be
erased by pressing this button.

Cleaning the front panel
When the front panel is soiled, wipe the surface
of the panel with adry and soft cloth.
Cleaning the connector
The connector on the reverse side of the front
panel needs to be cleaned occasionally. Wipe
the surface of the connector with acotton swab

Se puede desmontar el panel delantero de
aparato y[Ievarlo consigo cuando se deja el
cc}che estacionado sin vigiiancia.
Para Ilevarse et panel delantero utilice la caja de
transport provista.
Antes de desmontar el panel delantero, saque el
disco compacto para evitar que pueda darlarse
el aparato.

Presione PWR para desconectar el
aparato.
Mientrae aujeta el panel delantero con
una mane, presicme ~para soltar un
Iado del panel. Debe tenerse cuidado
de no dejar caer el panel. Puede salir
como por un rescwteen este memento.
Cuando desmonte el panel delantero
del aparato, hagalo tirando del mismo
para sacarlo del aparato.

Luz de seguridad
Cuando se desmonta el panel delantero aparece
una Iuz LED en el Iado delantero del aparato.
Esta Iuz fue diseilada para evitar el robo y
permanece destellando con el panel delantero
desmontado. Este aparato no tiene otro sistema
de seguridad, por ejemplo una alarma yel
dispositivo antirrobo no es completamente
efectivo.

NO toque el conector en el Iado de atras del
panel delantero ya que puede ensuciar el
conector yprovocar un mal contacto que
puede ser la causa de una averia posterior.

anterior, presione nuevamente DISP.

Presione PWR para conectarel aparato.
Presione BAND para seleccionar la
banda de entre FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 y
AM2.
Aparecen Ios indicadores de banda en ese
orden yen ciclo.
●FM1, FM2 yFM3comparten la mismagama
de frecuencias.
●AM 1yAM2 comparten la misma gama de
frecuencias.

TUNE 70 TUNE Apara sintonizar la
estacion deseada.
El aparato empiezalaexploracion ysintoniza
autom~ticamente unaestacion (sintonizacion
con bk.queda).
Presione TUNE Vpara disminuir yTUNE A
para aumentar la frecuencia.
Presione nuevamente el boton para cancelar
la funcion. Repita el procedimiento hasta
sintonizar la emisora deseada.
Nota
Si se presiona (menos de 0,5 de segundo
cada vez) TUNE 70 TUNE Ala frecuencia
baja osube un intervalo cada vez.
