General information BT 2000
The headset BT2000 is acomfortablyto wear hands-free headset for regular telephones (i.e. office
telephonesystems). The newBluetoothTM technologygives you theopportunityfor reliable and bug-free
wireless transmission to your existingtelephone. The systemconsists ofaheadset andanaudio gateway
that ensures connectiontothepresentlyusedtelephonehandset.This audiogatewaycanbe usedas
charging stationand as well for storing.
Package includes:
• Headset with integrated BluetoothTM technologyand Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries.
• Audio-Gatewaywith charging station for storing, charging ofheadset andas connection to
your existing telephone.

Hardware requirements for existing telephone and safetyadvice:
Almost all wiredtelephoneswithaconventionalhandset and aplug-inhandsetcable canbeconnected.
Todaynearlyall modern home- and office telephones are equipped with aplug-inreceiver cable(4 pin
“Western” sockets). The BT2000 onlyreplaces the microphone and the earpiece ofyour telephone handset
so thatyoucanmove around withinarangeofseveral meters ofyour workplace withoutanycables. You
can use the BT2000 at analogue as well as ISDN- or proprietarytelephone systems.
The following telephones can not be connected:
• Designer telephones where additional electronic devices (i. e. buttons, displays)are installedin
the handset
• Telephones withcarbon, dynamic or piecoceramic microphones (mostly older models) which are
not yet equipped with state-of-the art electret microphones
• Telephones with special handsets
In case ofdoubt please contact the companythat services your telephonesystem. Pleaseuse only
the suppliedaccessories.Operate the audiogatewayonlyinconnection with the speciallydesigned
wall charger, other chargers maydamage the set or cause undesired effects onthe telephoneline.
Never open the headset or tryto change or even open the lithium battery byyourself!
Hint: The headset canalso beconnectedwithotherappliances equippedwith Bluetooth™technologysuch
as mobile phones andfutureDECT-telephone systemswith Bluetooth™ technology.Inthis case the audio
gatewaywill onlybe usedto plug intheheadsetfor charging,thehandsetcable connectors will remain
unused. Pairing has tobedone accordingto themanuals ofthe respective manufacturer.Observe the
relevantchapter at the end ofthis manual.
Connecting the audio-gatewayto your existing telephone
• Unplug thecable ofthe handset you
presentlyuse and insert it in the lateral
socket ofthe audio gateway(1).
• Plugin one endofthe suppliedstraight
telephone cable in the nowfree socket of
your hand receiver, the other end plug in the
free socket at the bottomofyour audio
gateway. You can lead the cable outside via the
2 slots in the plastic. (2)
• Connect theDC plug ofthewall charger with
the socket marked „DC 5V“at the right side

of your audio-gateway.Plug the wall charger in a 230V socket.
• Insert theBluetooth™headset in theaudio gatewayas shownbelow. The charginglight atthe
audio gatewaywill lightup.
• Liftup your telephone handset. You should hear the normal dial toneandbe able touse your
telephone (withtheoriginal handset) as usual.In case youdon´t hear anything, checkthe newly
plugged-in connections andcheckout theother positions ofthe slide switch atthe bottomofthe
audiogateway.Oneofthe8positions will give youyour desiredsignal.Leave the switchinthis
position.The switch is neededtocover the varietyofwirings ofwiredtelephones ofthedifferent
brands. In most cases the preselected position (1) will be the right one.
Charging the BT2000 in thechargingcradle of theaudio gateway
Chargingstarts the momenttheheadset is being inserted intheaudiogateway.Ittakes approx.1.5to2.5
hours tofullychargeacompletelyemptyBT2000. The leftindicator lightgives you information ofthe state
ofcharging. (Orange =charging, green = battery full). A red light indicates either a defect ofthe batteryor
that the headset is not in the correct position in the audio gateway.
• You canreduce the chargingtimebyswitching off the Bluetooth™ headset before charging (in
direction ofthe arrow).

Important advice to prepare the headset before wearing on your ear
The headset is being delivered foldedup. The sameposition is usedfor
chargingin the charging stationor for storing. Towear it on your ear
please turn the microphone arm(1) as indicateddownwards. The earhook
(2) is flexible at theend sothatit can be adjustedtotheindividual ear
shape.
Towear it on your ear fold theearhook(3) backwards for no morethan 1 or 2 cm.
The earhook(3) can be adjusted in the rear part (4) sothat it fits perfectlyto your ear.
The headsetis simplyhunguponthe right ear (5). Itwill fit comfortably,ifyouadjust theflexible part ofthe
earhook(4, 5) to your ear’sshape.
Hint: Pleaserefrainfromfoldingout theearmount anyfurtherthan necessary.There shouldonlybeenough
space between the headsetand your ear to ensure acomfortable position.Under no circumstances should
the earmount be folded like the microphone!
Puttingyour Bluetooth™ headset into operation
After havingchargedyour headsetfor awhile it is nowreadyfor switchingitonfor the first time. Push the
slideswitch at your headset in the position “ON”.
Younowhavethechoice whether youuse your „old“handheldreceiver or yourBluetooth™headset. For
making atelephone call youstill havetoalways liftupyour telephone receiver.Diallingas well will still always
be done with your „old“ telephone. Ifyouwant toswitch over to your Bluetooth™headset, place thereceiver
next to your telephone.

Accept incoming calls and adjust receiving volume
• Byoncepressingthe talkbutton at your BluetoothTM headsetyoucan takeoveracall with your
wireless headset. Switch-over will alwaystakeashortmoment. During switch-over you will hear a
short melody.
• Adjust theearphonevolumebypressingthe volumebuttons or ofthe headsetaccordingto
your wishes. You mayalsofeel the volumekeyswith your fingers: The keywith one dot reduces the
volume, while the key with 2dots will increase it. This adjustment will have no effect on the volume
ofthe microphone!This volumeis automaticallyadjusted bythe volumeofour ownvoice and the
integrated DSP (digital signal processor).
• After finishingyour call donot forget toput backyour handheld receiver, otherwise the linemight still
be occupiedthus creating unnecessarycosts!
Important advice for transmission range:
The Bluetooth™headset has an averange range of about 10m.This range can be influenced byyour
surroundings. Electronic appliances close toyour telephone mayreduce rangewhereas a free areamayeven
increase it.
In case your Bluetooth™ headset has lost connection to your telephone just press the center button
at your headset toreconnect. In case this does notwork,just switch your headset offfor ashort moment and
on again before pressingthe center button at your headset.
PairingbetweenBluetoothTM Headset and Audio-Gateway
Accordingto the international BluetoothTM standards and agreements your headset ist able to establish a
reliable and safe audio transmission to a lotofdifferent devices using the BluetoothTM technology.
Your headset comes factoryprogrammed („paired“) and readyfor use with the individual audio-gateway
suppliedtogether as aset. Ifyou want to connecttheheadsetwith other BluetoothTM devices (e.g.mobile
phone), orifyou havealreadyusedyourheadsetwithanother device, youmust repeat thepairingprocedure
before reconnection to youraudio-gateway.
In such apairing procedure, headset and partner device must exchange informations and securitydata,
before theycan mutuallyacknowledge themselves as partner units. This procedure, which includes areset, is
defined as „pairing“. Important: Onlypaired devices can communicate witheach other, there is no
comminicationpossible withathird device at the sametime. For pairingwithother devices please readthe
last chapter ofthis manual.

Troubleshooting
Under certain circumstances it cannot beexcludedtotallythatcurrent supplyinterruptions or interferences
mayperhaps have influenceonthecorrect functions of the set. Incase ofamalfunction youmayre-establish
the connection by this simple test procedure in exactlythe following sequence:
• Switchoff the audio-gatewaybyunplugging the DC power cable fromaudio-gateway
• Switchoff BluetoothTM headset, too
• Insert power cable again into audio-gateway
• Switchon BluetoothTM headset again
After a short moment both units should be pairedagain together.
Ifthe above describedmethod does not help, a„general reset“backto thefactorydefault settings mayhelp.
This general resetis alsonecessaryinall cases, wheretheheadsethas beenused inconnection withother
BluetoothTM devices andshall nowbere-connectedto your individual audio-gateway.The general reset
procedureincludes pairingandresetting both partner units (headset and audio-gateway), otherwisethey
cannot establish a secure transmission system.
Starting general reset
Please follow the instructions in exactly the described sequence!
• (1) Switch your headset OFF with power switch (slideswitch).
• (2) Switch headset ON again
• (3) Press all 3keys at headset simultaneouslyat the sametime andkeep thempressed for
about 3seconds. Holdheadset duringthatprocesure close to yourears. Youwill hearsshort
melodymarking asuccessful reset.If you do nothearthemelodywithin1-2seconds, thereset
was not successful and you should repeat steps (1) to (3).
• Release all buttons.
• Switchtheheadset 1 x OFF and ON again at the slide switch (power off-on).
• Placetheheadset close tothe audio gateway.
• Press andhold the TEST/PAIRING button on top side ofthe audio-gateway and keep button
pressed for about 6 seconds (during this time the test LED will flash)
• Release button
• Disconnect the 5V DC power supplyplug fromthe audio-gateway.
• Wait for about 1 second and insert the DC plug again into audio-gateway.
• Placethe headset intothechargingcradle,waitandobservethe test-LED. The LED will flash for
some seconds until thepairing process will be finished.
• After pairingprocess is completed, youwill hear amelodyfrom the plugged-inheadset.Now you
maytake out the headset and use it.

After this procedureaudio-gatewayundBluetoothTM headsetarepaired. Privacyofyourphone
conversationis ensuredbythe digitalencryptionandthe BluetoothTM transmission protocol between
audio-gatewayandheadset. Ifthepairingprocess has not been successful, you mayhavemade a
mistake or perhaps you have performed the steps inthe wrong sequence.
In that case start the procedure once more again fromthe beginning.
Pairing-procedure witha different partner unit
Youonlyneedtofollowtheinstructions in this chapter, if youintendtouse theheadsettogether withother
devices withBluetoothTM technology,likeaGSMmobile phoneetcinsteadoftheaudio-gateway.Inthatcase
youmust prepare theheadset so, that it will nowbe combined („paired“) with another device. As first step you
initializea reset oftheheadset. Switchtheheadset off and on again,press andkeep all 3buttons pressed
simultaneously forabout3seconds. At theendofthis time youwill hear a melody as confirmation for a
successful reset. You can release the buttons. Nowswitch the headsetfor a short moment offand on again.
The headset is nowreadyfor pairing with other BluetoothTM devices.
The following proceduredepends on the other partner device and can bedifferent frommodel to model.
Please followtheinstructions of the user manual andstart the pairing process. In case of GSM mobile phones
the phonewill search for activeBluetoothTM devices and will detect theheadset as „ BT1000byAlbrecht “.
Mobile phone and BluetoothTM Headset exchange their data, which contain individualserialnumbers and
other safetycodes, to enable a safeaudio connection between the 2newpartners. Duringthepairing process
the menu will askfor a PIN code oftheBluetoothTM headset. Please use PIN Code
1234
unless your BT2000 comes with aspecial registration card. (in that case please use the PIN codeon the
card)
The manufacturers ofBluetoothTM equipments are updating their instructions frequently.Please makesure
that youusetheir latest instructions only.Youmaydownloadtheinstructions fromthe internetor askyour
phone distributor.
