This appliance requires a special venting system.
Refer to installation instructions for parts list and method
of installation.
This boiler must be installed in accordance with local
codes if any; if not, follow ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 or
CAN/CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation
Code, as applicable.
CLEARANCE.
The boiler is also for closet installation, minimum
measurment for the space is 25.5 x 17 inches (650x440mm),
height 12.6 inches (320mm) and must be ventilated with a
ventilation area of at least 10.8 in² (70 cm²).

NOTICE
The Compact 3010 heating system is designed to
be used with a thermostat control. This manual
includes instructions for controlling the system
using the Alde Control Panel 3010 614 (See Figure 3),
which is an optional part of the system. If your RV
has a different control system installed, please refer
to the instructions for that system.
TheAldeCompact3010boiler(Figure1)isdesigned
toprovidebothheatanddomestichotwater.Theboiler
includesbothanLPGasburnerandanelectricheating
element,andyoucanusethesystemwitheitherLPgas
orelectricity,orwithboth.Theheatingsystemconsists
oftheboilerunitaswellasanexpansiontank(Figure2),
whichisinstalledatthehighestpointontheRV.Check
withyourRVowner’smanualtodeterminewherethe
expansiontankisinstalled.Theheatingsystemworksby
circulatinghotglycoluidthroughpipesandheatconvec-
tors,similartothehydronicheatingsystemusedinmany
homes.Theboileristtedwitha12-voltelectricalcircula-
tionpumpthatisusedtocirculatetheheateduid.The
heatconvectorslocatedneartheooroftheRVallowair
tobeheatedbythehotuidinthesystem,andthenthe
airrisesandcirculatestoheatthespaceinyourRV.The
boilerisalsottedwithabuilt-inhotboiler(waterheater)
thathasavolumeofapprox.2.5gallons(8.5liters)fresh
water.TheLPGasboilercanproducearound3gallons
(12liters)of104°F(40°C)watereveryhalf-hour.Ifthe
electricheatingelementsareusedinsteadofgasforpow-
eringtheboiler,thecapacityisslightlyless.Youmayuse
theboilertoheattheRVwithoutllingthewaterheater.

If the uid is drained for any reason, you must
replace it before restarting the heating system.
Damage to the heating system and voiding of your
warranty could result if you attempt to start it with
no or low level of glycol heating uid.

Hot water at temperatures above 125°F (51 ºC) can
cause serious scalding injuries and in extreme
cases even death.
The boiler can deliver hot water at a temperature up
to 185°F (85°C).
– For safe operation, use a mixing valve set at
temperature no higher than 125°F (51°C).

ABOUT LP GAS
LPGasisapetroleumproduct,formallyknownas“liquid
petroleumgas.”Itismainlymadeupofpropaneand
butanegas.Theadvantageofpropaneisthatitremains
gaseousattemperaturesaslowas-40°F(-40°C).
Forthisreason,propaneisusedincolderclimates.
LPGascylinderscontainLPGasinbothliquidand
gaseousforms.Whenthecylindersarelled,the
pressureturnsthegasintoliquid.Whenthegascylinder
valveisopened,theliquidbecomesagasagain.

THE PRINCIPLE OF CONVECTION

BothLPGasandelectricheatingusehotglycoluidto
heatthespaceintheRV.Inordertoachievethebest
possibleresultfromtheprincipleofconvectedheat,itis
importanttoallowairtocirculatefreelyunderbunksand
behindbackrestsandwall-mountedcabinets
(SeeFigure4).Ifthevehiclehasattedcarpet,ensure
thatthecarpetdoesnotobstructtheairsupplytothe
convectors.Itisjustasimportantthatcushionsor
blanketsdonotinterrupttheowofairbehindbackrests
andwallcabinets.

SUFFOCATION HAZARD
LPG contains no toxic substances, but breathing in
concentrated gas may cause suffocation due to lack
of oxygen. Incomplete combustion of LP Gas can
also produce carbon monoxide (CO) gas, which is a
suffocation hazard.
– For your safety, install and use a CO detector.
USING THE LP GAS BOILER
Usethethermostattocontroltheheatwhenusing
LPgas.RefertotheControlPanelinstructions(Page12).
WhenLPGasoperationisselectedontheControlPanel,
thegasburnerintheboilerandthepumpforcirculating
theglycolheatinguidstartautomaticallywheneverheat
iscalledforbythethermostat.Theburnerkeepsburn-
ingandthepumpkeepscirculatinguntilthethermostat
reachesthesettemperature.Shouldtheboilergooutfor
anyreason,asensorwillbeactivatedandtheboilerwill
attempttoautomaticallyrestart(inabout10seconds).

The risk involved in using LP Gas is that any leak-
ing gas may ignite and explode. Since LP Gas
is heavier than air, leaking gas will collect at the
lowest point in the area where the leak occurs. To
make it easier to detect gas leaks, a substance with
a distinctly rank smell has been added to the gas.
– For your safety install a gas alarm.

SUFFOCATION HAZARD
In order to burn properly and safely, the LP Gas
boiler must have adequate air intake. Inadequate
air intake may cause the build-up of CO gas, which
is a suffocation hazard. The inlet air to the LP Gas
boiler enters through the ue, which is usually
installed on the side of the RV near the heater. While
camping during the winter, make sure that the ue
is kept clear of snow and ice.
Do not start the LP Gas boiler until the ue is com-
pletely free of snow and/or ice.

can be up to 392°F (200°C).

Check supply and exhaust air intake, the vehicle
is often equipped with supply and exhaust air
valves (refer to vehicle instructions) that must not
be blocked as this will impair the efciency of the
heating system and air quality, which can lead to
carbon monoxide poisoning.

USING THE BOILER
DOMESTIC HOT WATER
Theheatingsystemcansupplydomestichotwaterusing
eitherLPGasorelectricity.Youmaytemporarilyincrease
thetemperatureofthehotwaterusingthesamethermo-
staticcontrolpanelthatisusedforspaceheating.
Pleaseseethecontrolinstructionsfordetails.
To make hot water with the boiler:
1. MakesurethattheRV:sfreshwatertankislledup
withfreshwaterorconnectedtomainwatersupply.
2. Filltheboilerwithclean,freshwater.Iftheboilerhas
notbeenusedforsometime,ushitoutwithfresh
waterbyopeninganyhotwatertapintheRVandal-
lowingapproximately3gallonstorunthroughthetap.
3. Closealltapsandstarttheheaterusingthe
ControlPanel.
USING ONLY HOT WATER
Whenonlyhotwaterisrequired(forexampleduringthe
summer),nosettingsneedtobechanged.Theboilerwill
lookafterthisfunctionautomatically.

cause serious scalding injuries and in extrem cases
even death.
The boiler can deliver hot water at a temperature up
to 185°F (85°C).
– For safe operation, use a mixing valve set at
temperature no higher than 125°F (51°C).
AIR CUSHION
Theboilerisdesignedtohaveanairspace,calledanair
cushion,atthetopofthetank.Thisaircushionisessen-
tialforabsorbingpressuresurgesintheheater,thuspre-
ventingabuild-upofpressurethatcouldcausedamage
topipesandpipejoints.Whentheboilerisincontinuous
use,however,thisaircushiontendstodissipate.
Draining the boiler using the combined safety/drain
valve:
1. Switchoffthefreshwaterpump.ConsultyourRV
owner’smanualtondthelocationofthiscontrol.
2. Openallwatertaps.
3. Openthesafety/drainvalvebyturningthelever
(SeeFigure5).CheckyourRVowner’smanualto
ndthelocationofthesafety/drainvalve.
4. Theboilerwillnowdraindirectlybelowthevehicle
throughthesafety/drainvalvehose.Checkthatall
thewaterisemptiedout(about2-3gallons/7-10
liters).Leavethevalveintheopenpositionuntilthe
nexttimetheheaterisused.
5.
6. Foremptyingspecially-adaptedboilers,aswellas

LP GAS CONNECTIONS AND HOSES
Rubberhosehasapropensitytodryoutandcrack,and
thereforeLPGashosesmustbechangedaccordingto
nationalregulations,aminimumofonceevery5years.
Checkthedatestamponthehose.
GLYCOL HEATING FLUID
Regularlychecktheheatingsystemuidlevelinthe
expansiontank.Thetankhasmarkingsonthesideto
indicatethemaximumandminimumlevelfortheuid
(SeeFigure7).Theuidlevelshouldbeabout0.5inches
(1cm)abovetheminimumindicatorinacoldtank.Please
seedirectionsbelowforllingtheheatingsystem.
Theheatingsystemmustbelledwithamixtureofwater
andglycol.Useonlyhighqualityready-mixedglycol(with
inhibitor)intendedforuseinaluminumheatingsystems.
TheglycolmustcarrythelabelGRAS(generallyrecog-
nizedassafe).PleasecontactAldeforalistofapproved
glycolsuppliers.
Ifyouareusingconcentratedglycol,themixtureshould
consistof60%distilledwaterand40%glycol.Iftheheat-
ingsystemwillbeexposedtotemperaturesbelow-15°F
(-25°C)theglycolcontentmustbeincreased,butnotto
morethan50%.
Anyvesselsusedfortheglycolmustbespotlesslyclean,
andthepipesintheheatingsystemmustbefreeofcon-
tamination.Thiswillpreventthegrowthofbacteriainthe
system.

BLEEDING THE SYSTEM
Dependingonhowthepipeshavebeentted,airpockets
mayformwhentheheatingsystemislledwithglycol
uid.Asignthatthereisairtrappedintheheatingsys-
temisthattheheatreleasedintothepipesonlyextends
2-3feetorsofromtheboiler,eventhoughthecirculation
pumpisoperating.
Innewlylledheatingsystems,smallairbubblescan
formintheexpansiontank,creatingagurglingsound.If
thecirculationpumpisstoppedforafewseconds,the
bubbleswillusuallydisappear;however,iftheproblem
persists,bleedtheheatingsystemtoremedytheprob-
lem.
Automatic Bleeding
AllboilerssoldinNorthAmericacomewithanautomatic
airvent(seeFigure8),whichwillbleedtheheatingsys-
temautomatically.Ifyoudonothaveanautomaticair
vent,ableederscrewisttedtotheoutgoingpipefor
manualbleeding.
NOTICE
Never open the bleeders while the pump is running,
because this will induce air into the system.
Theglycolcontentshouldbecheckedattheexpansion
tankusingapHtesterbeforetoppingupwithnewliquid.
Thiswillensurethattheconcentrationofglycolinthemix-
tureisnottoohigh.Iftheuidlevelintheexpansiontank
fallsforreasonsotherthanevaporation,pleasecheck
alljoints,draincocks,andbleederscrewstoensurethat
theyarenotleaking.Besuretocheckthebleederlocated
attheendoftheconvector.Besuretothoroughlyclean
upanypuddlesofleakedglycol.Rinsetheareawith
waterandwipeuptheexcess.Therecommendedglycol
productisconsiderednontoxic,butwestillrecommend
thatyouusecaretopreventaccidentalingestionbychil-
drenorpets.
FILLING THE HEATING SYSTEM WITH
GLYCOL FLUID
Fillthesystemthroughtheexpansiontank,eithermanu-
allyorusingtheAldellingpump,whichbothtopsupand
bleedsthesystem.Topurchaseallingpump,contact
yourAldedealer.Formanuallling,removenut
(SeeFigure7)fromthetank.Slowlypourtheglycolmix-
tureintothetank.Bleedtheheatingsystem(seedirec-
tionsbelow).Topupwithmoreliquidifthelevelhasfallen
afterbleeding.Bleedanewlylledheatingsystemregu-
larlyduringtherstdaystheheatingsystemisinopera-
tion.
NOTICE
Any vessels used to carry the uid must be spot-
lessly clean and the pipes in the system must be
free of contamination. This will prevent the growth
of bacteria in the system.
Manual Bleeding
Tobleedtheheatingsystemmanually,followthesteps
below:
1. Switchoffthecirculationpump.
2. Openthebleederscrewandleaveitopenuntilit
startstodischargewater.
3. Closethebleederscrew.
4. Opentheremainingbleederscrewsinthesystem
(pleaserefertotheinstructionmanualoftheRVfor
theirlocations).
5. Leavethebleederscrewsopenuntiltheystartdis-
charginguid,andthenclosethem.
6. StarttheLPgasboiler.
7. Startthecirculationpumpandletitrunforawhile.
Checkthatthepipesandconvectorsaroundthe
vehicleareheatingup.
Persistent Air Lock
Ifairlockpersists,trythefollowing:
Single-axle trailers:
1. Stopthecirculationpump.
2. Lowerthefrontofthetrailerasfaraspossible.Leave
itinthispositionforafewminutestoallowtheairto
travelupwardsintheheatingsystem.
3. Openthebleederscrewatthehighestpoint.Leaveit
openuntilitdischargesglycoluid.
4. Raisethefrontofthetrailerasfaraspossibleand
repeattheprocedureinthisposition.
5. Positionthetrailerhorizontallyandstartthecircula-
tionpump.
6. Checkthatthepipesandconvectorsaroundthevehi-
cleareheatingup.
Motorhome or twin-axle trailers:
Theeasiestwaytobleedtheheatingsystemistoplace
thevehicleonaslopingsurfaceortoraiseoneendof

minimummeasurementsformountingoftheboiler.
Thespacewheretheboileristobeassembledmustbe

Low Water Cutoff
If the boiler is installed above radiation level, the
system must be provided with a low water cut off
for the heating uid. The low water cutoff device
shall cut the 12 V DC supply for the boiler,
see wiring diagram page 25.

This appliance requires a special venting system.
Refer to installation instructions for parts list and method
of installation.
This boiler must be installed in accordance with local
codes if any; if not, follow ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 or
CAN/CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and Propane Installation
Code, as applicable.
CLEARANCE.
The boiler is also for closet installation, minimum
measurment for the space is 25.5 x 17 inches (650x440mm),
height 12.6 inches (320mm) and must be ventilated with a
ventilation area of at least 10.8 in² (70 cm²).

MOUNTING THE WALL FLUE

exhausthoseintotheinlethose.Firstmounttheexhaust
hose(B12a).Adda1/8inch(3mm)stringofHighTem-
perature(min500°F)Siliconpaste(B12b)ontheinside
ofthe2-inch(50mm)hose.(e.g.,DowCorningq3-1566).
Puttheexhausthoseoverthewallueconnection(B8).
Tightenthe40-60hoseclamp(B13).Puttheairinlettube

MOUNTING THE EXPANSION TANK
Mounttheexpansiontankatleast7.5inches(200mm)
higherthanthehighestpointoftheheatingsystemor
boiler.Iftheexpansiontankismountedinawardrobefor
example,Alde’sprotectivehousingshouldbemounted
aroundtheexpansiontank.Thiswillstopaccidental
splashescomingincontactwithclothing.Leaveaspace
ofatleast8inches(220mm)abovetheexpansiontank
fortoppingupandservice.Fittheexpansionvessel
usingthescrewsandsupportrings(C16)supplied.Ifa
circulatingpumpisttedintheexpansionvessel,itisa
suckingpumpandincominghosesshallthereforealways
beconnectedtothepipeunderneaththepumpandout-
goinghosestothepipealongside(seeg.C).Theair
venthose(C17)mustbeassembledverticallyupwards
andclampeddownsothatcreasescannotforminthe
hose.Thedrainagehose(C18)mustbemountedsothat
itgoestheshortestroutefromtheexpansiontankout
throughtheoorofthevehicle.Cutthehoseobliquelyat
a30ºanglefromthedirectionoftravelunderthevehicle.
Aftertheheatingsystemhasbeenlled,thetankshallbe
sealedwiththecap.

must be secured with band clips.

lated or built in to prevent the driver or passenger
from getting in contact with them during operation
of the RV.

therubberTpipe(D23).Thedraininghose(D27)from
thebleedershallgooutthroughtheoorofthevehicle.
Thehoseshallbecutobliquelyata30°anglefromthe
directionoftravel.
CONNECTION TO THE FRESH-WATER
SYSTEM
Theboilermustbeconnectedtothevehicle’sfreshwater
systeminordertofunction.Thefreshwaterconnections

D24)shallbemountedonthecoldwaterhoseintothe
heater.DrillaØ3/4inch(16mm)holeintheoorforthe
drainhose,andthenscrewdownthesafety/drainvalve
intotheoor.Mountthehoseconnection(SeeFigure
D26)ontheincomingnipple.Connectthesafety/drain
valvetothehoseconnection.
Mounttheangleconnectionwithbuilt-inbleedvalveon
outgoingconnection(SeeFigureD28).Thisshallbe
mountedinthesamewayasthehoseconnection.Mount
thebleedhose(FigureD28)onthevalve’shosesleeve,
andthenpullthehoseoutthroughtheoor.Thehose
shallbecutobliquelyata30°anglefromthedirectionof
travelunderthevehicle.Thehosemustnotbeblocked.
CONNECTING THE LP GAS
Removetheprotectivecapfromthegaspipeonthe
boiler(F29).MaketheLPGasinstallationtotheboiler
witha3/8inchareconnection.Whenlayingthepipe,
rememberthattheboilerhastobedismountedforser-
vice.TheboilershouldbeconnectedtoanLPgascyl-
inderwithtype-approvedpressurereducingvalveanda
pressureof30mbar.

Hot water at temperatures above 125°F (51 ºC) can
cause serious scalding injuries and in extreme
cases even death.
The boiler can deliver hot water at a temperature up
to 185°F (85°C).
– For safe operation, use a mixing valve set at
temperature no higher than 125°F (51°C).
