Important Information
General
Before using your ALGE-TIMING device read the complete manual carefully. It is part of the device and
contains important information about installation, safety and its intended use. This manual cannot cov-
er all conceivable applications. For further information or in case of problems that are mentioned not at
all or not sufficiently detailed, please contact your ALGE-TIMING representative. You can find contact

Safety
Apart from the information of this manual all general safety and accident prevention regulations of the
legislator must be taken into account.
The device must only be used by trained persons. The setting-up and installation must only be exe-
cuted according to the manufacturer’s data.
Intended Use
The device must only be used for its intended applications. Technical modifications and any misuse
are prohibited because of the risks involved! ALGE-TIMING is not liable for damages that are caused by
improper use or incorrect operation.
Power supply
The stated voltage on the type plate must correspond to voltage of the power source. Check all con-
nections and plugs before usage. Damaged connection wires must be replaced immediately by an
authorized electrician. The device must only be connected to an electric supply that has been installed
by an electrician according to IEC 60364-1. Never touch the mains plug with wet hands! Never touch
live parts!
Cleaning
Please clean the outside of the device only with a smooth cloth. Detergents can cause damage. Never
submerge in water, never open or clean with wet cloth. The cleaning must not be carried out by hose
or high-pressure (risk of short circuits or other damage).

All technical information, data and information for installation and operation correspond to the latest
status at time of printing and are made in all conscience considering our past experience and
knowledge. Information, pictures and description do not entitle to base any claims. The manufacturer
is not liable for damage due to failure to observe the manual, improper use, incorrect repairs, technical
modifications, use of unauthorized spare parts. Translations are made in all conscience. We assume
no liability for translation mistakes, even if the translation is carried out by us or on our behalf.
Disposal
If a label is placed on the device showing a crossed out dustbin on wheels (see drawing),
the European directive 2002/96/EG applies for this device.
Please get informed about the applicable regulations for separate collection of electrical
and electronical waste in your country and do not dispose of the old devices as household
waste. Correct disposal of old equipment protects the environment and humans against
negative consequences!

1 Available System Components:
•Scoreboard with 1, 2 or 3 digits, single, double or triple-sided with built-in powerpack
and charger

•Tripod for Lapcounter (TRI128 or TRIMAN depending on the Lapcounter model)
•Mains cable (to charge the built-in battery)
•Bell (only for type D-LCB)
2 Functions
Countup: count up from 0
Countdown: count down from set number
2.1 Switch between Countup and Countdown
From Countup to Countdown:
•Keep the manual switch pressed for at least 5 seconds until 0 is shown. (Reset)
•Press the manual switch again and keep it pressed for at least 5 seconds until 99
(199 for 2,5 Digit and 999 for 3 Digit Lap counter) is shown on the display (the first 9
is blinking)
From Countdown to Countup:
•Press the manual switch for at least 5 seconds until it shows the countdown value
•Press the manual switch again and keep it pressed for at least 5 seconds until 0 is
shown on the display.
2.2 Countup (00)
•Display shows 0
•Press the manual button shortly (less than 2 seconds) – display counts up one
•Press the button between 2 and 4 seconds – display counts down one
•Reset to zero by pressing the button for 5 seconds, if there is already zero on the display
it will change the counting mode to countdown
2.3 Countdown (99)
•Display shows 99 an (first digit is blinking).
•Set the desired start-value for the blinking digit
•Press the button for 3 seconds, the next digit is now blinking
•Repeat the 2 previous actions until you have adjusted all digits
•The display shows the start value, no digit is blinking anymore
•Pressing the button shortly (less than 2 seconds) increases the value by one
•Pressing the button between 2 and 4 seconds counts up by one
•Pressing the button for about 5 second resets to the start value. If the counter is already
at the start value, the counting mode is changed

3 Lapcounter Controlled by Timy
It is possible to control the Lapcounter form the Timy. In order to control it from the Timy se-
lect the program <Commander> and then <Counter>. Now you can set any number when
entering it with the Timy-keyboard and confirm it with the OK-button. To connect the Timy
with the Lapcounter D-LC use a banana cable.
Counting up: Press <F0>, <F1> or green <OK> button
Counting down: Press <F2>, <F3> or red <OK> button
Input a number: Input number on Timy-keyboard and press <OK>
Connect it at the Timy on the “display board” banana socket and at the Lapcounter at the
yellow and black banana socket. The baud rate is 2400 baud.
4 RS232 Interface
It is possible to control the Lapcounter by RS232 interface.
Connection:yellow and black banana socket

•8 data ASCII-Bit
•1 stop bit
•no parity bit

All connections, switches and status LED are on the bottom of
the Lapcounter D-LC.

5.1 Powerpack
The Lapcounter has an integrated Powerpack and charger which supplies power for about
15 hours in continuous use.
To recharge the battery you have to supply the counter with mains for 14 hours.
ATTENTION!! If the value is not changed during 5 minutes the counter switches to
power save mode. Pressing the button once reactivates the counter in the previous
settings.
