What you need
To install the camera, you will need:
• 12 Vdc power source. See Specications for requirements.
• Tools and additional fasteners (may be required) for mounting the camera
• Video, power and ground (if needed) extension cables
Installation
Before installation:
• Make sure that the device is in good condition and all the assembly parts are included.
• Check the specication of the products for the installation environment.
• Make sure that the wall or the ceiling is strong enough to withstand 3 times the weight of the
camera.
• To avoid re or shock hazard, use only UL listed power supplies. Verify that the power supply will
provide the rated voltage and wattage for the camera. See the Specications section.
During installation:
• Camera Lens: Handle the camera carefully to prevent scratching or soiling the lens. If the lens or IR
array shield becomes soiled, clean it only with approved products. See the Cleaning section.
• Power supply: Camera drop cable: The camera drop cable includes two connectors:
—Video BNC connector: For transmission of the video signal across a coax (75 Ω) extension
cable to a compatible recorder.
—Power connector: The camera can be powered by 12 Vdc. When applying 12 Vdc power,
observe the power polarity shown on the connector. See the picture to the left for the connector
polarity conguration.
Step 1. Route interface cables to the camera
Video and power interface cables connect directly to the camera drop cable (see photo above).
NOTE
When selecting a mounting location for the camera
• Make sure that there are no reective surfaces near to the camera lens. White light from the camera
may bounce back onto the lens causing reections.
• Determine how wiring is routed into the camera. The cable can be routed through an access hole in the
mounting plate, or through the cable in the mounting base.
The camera includes connectors for the following:
• Video coax (required): The video drop cable can connect to a video coax extension cable from a
Video Recorder or compatible monitor.
• 12 Vdc power input (optional if PoE powered, required if not): Refer to the Specications section
of this document for voltage and current requirements. ALWAYS COMPLY WITH THE POLARITY
SHOWN IN THIS GUIDE.
• Alarm output for connection to a reporting device.
1. Route a video coax extension cable from a compatible video recorder (DVR) to where the camera
will be installed.
2. Route 12 Vdc power extension cables from an adequate power source to the location where the
camera will be installed.

The ALIBI ALI-TP1002LS indoor / outdoor turret camera includes a 4 -in-1 switchable video output (TVI/
AHD/CVI/CVBS) with a 2 MP sensor and Starlight technology for color vision at night. This camera features:

3. If used, route cables from an alarm out device to the camera.
CAUTION

Do not apply power to the camera at this time. Before applying power to the camera, ensure that
the polarity is correct. An incorrect connection may cause a malfunction and can damage the
camera.
Step 2. Install the camera
The camera can be mounted directly to a wall or ceiling. The surface should support at least four times
the weight of the camera. The video/power drop cable from the camera can be routed either through
mounting surface or through a cable channel in the mounting base.
Separate the enclosure from the mounting base
1. Rotate the enclosure on the mounting base so that the mark on the base aligns with the notch in the
enclosure. See below.

2. Insert a coin or something similar in the notch, and then pry the enclosure o of the mounting base.
3. Separate the encloser and camera body from the mounting base.
4. Using the drill template provided, mark the location of the screws that anchor the mounting base to
the mounting surface. If mounting the camera onto a wall where moisture or other contaminants
are present, arrange the template and adjust the camera so that the cable channel is down or away
from the source of the contaminants.
5. If you are routing the drop cable through mounting surface, mark the position of the hole for the
drop cable.
6. Drill holes for the screws that anchor the base to the mounting surface. The mounting hardware
provided is appropriate for most surfaces. However, depending on the surface materials, more
appropriate fasteners may be required.
7. If routing the drop cable through the mounting surface, drill a 5/8” hole in the middle of the drill
template.
8. Attach the mounting base to the ceiling or wall.
—If attaching the mounting base to the ceiling or wall and the drop cable will be routed through
the cable channel in the base, place the drop cable in the channel before attaching the base to
the surface.

9. Route the video, power and earth ground (optional) extension cables through the mounting surface.
Step 3. Connect the camera to the video, power, and alarm out
1. Connect the
video extension cable to the camera video BNC drop cable connector. If the camera is
in an environment where dust, moisture or other contaminants are present, seal this connection
adequately to prevent contamination.
WARNING
!
Failure of the power or video drop cable connectors due to moisture or another
contaminant is considered an installation error, which voids the warranty. If
installing this camera in a location such as an overhang, shop, garage, kitchen, etc.
where high humidity or dust is present, seal these connections adequately.
2. Connect the 12 Vdc power extension cable to the 12 Vdc connector on the camera drop cable. Seal
the power cable connectors as needed from moisture and other contamination. The polarity of the
drop cable connector is shown below.
3. Connect the Alarm cables to the screw-down alarm out connector camera drop cable. Seal the cable
connectors as needed from moisture and other contamination.
CAUTION
Before applying power to the camera, ensure that the polarity is correct. An incorrect connection
can damage the camera.
4. Reattach the camera to the mounting base:
a. Store or conceal excess extension cable appropriately
b. Aligning the notch on the enclosure with the mark on the mounting base.
c. Press the enclosure with the camera body onto the mounting base until it snaps into place.
5. Apply power to the camera.
6. Open the recorder Live View screen, and then click inside the screen where the PTZ camera video
image is displayed. See below.
Step 4. Adjust camera pan, tilt and rotation
Adjust the camera pan, tilt and rotation to point the camera at your surveillance target. When pointing the
camera, use the Live View display on a recorder or remote login.
Camera adjustments
1. Adjust the camera body so that the “UP” orientation mark is at the top.
2. Pan adjustment: While observing video from the camera, turn the enclosure and camera body
together to point the camera in the direction of your surveillance target.

3. Tilt adjustment: Tilt the camera body within the enclosure to center the video image on your
surveillance target.

4. Rotation adjustment: If necessary, rotate the camera body within the enclosure to produce a
good horizontal alignment of the image. Ensure that the “UP” orientation mark on the camera body
is near the top of the camera.
5. Ensure the lens is clean and dust free.
Step 5. Select the video format
You can set the video format of the camera to either TVI, AHD, CVI, or CVBS. The video format currently
selected usually appears in the upper left corner of the Live View screen. The format you select must be
compatible with your DVR or monitoring device. To change the format to another option:
1. Find the tag on the video drop cable for the latest instructions.
2. Unscrew the cap on the button switch. See the drop cable photo on page 1.
3. Press and hold switch button for 5 seconds to change the video format to the next format in the
rotation shown on the tag. Repeat this step until the format you prefer appears on the Live View
screen.
4. Screw the cap back onto the button switch drop cable. Ensure that the cap is tight.
Step 6. Enable Strobe and Siren feature
The special strobe and siren features of this camera are disabled by default. To use these features, they
must be enabled. You can also setup a weekday schedule for when this feature is used. In the example
below, this feature is enabled through the recorder console. To use the feature:
1. Log into the recorder console as a user with administrative privileges.
2. Open the Motion Detection menu. Go to Menu | Camera | Event | Normal Event | Motion
Detection.

3. On the camera line, open the drop-down list and select the camera you want to congure. In the
example above, the camera connected to channel A1 was selected.
4. Check the Enable box for Motion Detection. Refer to the camera rmware user manual for
procedures to congure the motion detection area, setup Motion Detection Alarming Schedule and
Linkage Actions.
5. Check the enable box for False Alarm Filter (see above).
6. In the popup Note window, click OK to continue.
7. Click the Set Lighting Plan button.
8. In the Arming Schedule that opens, select the times during the week when this feature is
continuously enabled.
a. You can Continuous or None, and then drag a rectangle across the array to enable or disable
this feature at those times.
b. Click Apply when nished. NOTE: Segments in the schedule array shown below indicate
that the feature is enabled. Refer to the rmware user manual for your recorder for more
information on setting the Arming Schedule, if necessary. You can also set the schedule using
the Edit feature (see below) and copying that schedule to other cameras.
9. After clicking OK or Apply to save the schedule settings, return to the Motion Detection menu.
10. Click Apply to save your conguration.
Step 7. Open the OSD menu
The On Screen Display (OSD) provides conguration options for rening the performance of the camera. It
also can be used to block sensitive portions in the eld of view (Privacy).

You can open the OSD menu system from the recorder Live View display.
1. Open the recorder Live View screen, and then click inside the screen where the PTZ camera video
image is displayed. See below.
a. Click the PTZ Control icon in the Quick Setting Toolbar. The PTZ camera Live View window
will expand to full screen and the pop-up window shown below will open.

b. In the PTZ Control panel pop-up window, click the Menu icon on the Conguration line.
c. Drag the PTZ Control window to a position where it doesn’t cover the OSD menu
NOTE The PTZ Control window direction buttons and the Iris + and Iris - keys are used to
navigate the OSD menu and set conguration options in the camera. See .
• Opening the OSD Menu through remote login to the recorder
To open the OSD menu during a remote login to the recorder:
a. After logging into the recorder, open the camera in a single Live View window.
b. In the PTZ control panel, scroll down the Preset list to Preset95, click the entry to highlight
it, and then click the Call icon. See below. The OSD MAIN MENU screen will open.

NOTE The PTZ control panel direction buttons and the Iris + and Iris - keys are used to navigate the OSD
menu and set conguration options in the camera.

For remote access to the recorder: Navigation and settings in the OSD are made through direction keys
and the Iris + and Iris - buttons in the recorder PTZ control panel. See above.

OSD Denitions: On-screen Display (OSD) menus
After the camera is installed on a compatible recorder, you can open the OSD menu by clicking the PTZ
Control icon on the Quick Setting Toolbar.

To navigate the OSD menu and select options:
• Click the up/down ( p/ q) direction buttons to select the menu item.
• Click the left/right ( t/ u) direction buttons to adjust the value of the selected item.
• Click the Iris+ key to conrm a selection.
VIDEO FORMAT
You can set the video format as 2MP @ 25 fps, or 2 MP @ 30 fps.
EXPOSURE
Exposure describes the brightness-related parameters, which can be adjusted by EXPOSURE MODE, and
AGC.
EXPOSURE MODE:
You can set the EXPOSURE MODE to GLOBAL, BLC, HLC, WDR, or HLS.
GLOBAL: Refers to the normal exposure mode which adjusts lighting distribution, variations, and non-
standard processing.
BLC (Backlight Compensation): BLC compensates light to the object in the front to make it clear, but this
may cause the over-exposure of the background where the light is strong.
HLC (Highlightr Compensation): The camera detects the strong spots (the over-exposure portion of image),
and then reduce the brightness of the strong spots to improve the overall images.
WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): DWDR helps the camera provide clear images even under backlight
circumstances. When both very bright and very dark areas simultaneously exist in the image, WDR
balances the brightness level of the whole image and provides clear images with details.
HLS (Highlight Suppression): If the brightness of a part in the image exceeds the threshold, this part will
become black so that whole image can be clear.
AGC (Automatic Gain Control): Optimizes the clarity of the image in poor light conditions. The AGC level
can be set to HIGH, MEDIUM or LOW.
Note: Noise is amplied when increasing the AGC level. The higher the level, the more obvious the
noise.
SLOW SHUTTER: This feature increases the exposure time of a single frame, which makes a camera more
sensitive to the light so it can produce images even in low lux conditions.
ANTI-BANDING: This is a camera setting that prevents the appearance of horizontal lines (banding) when
photographing images in low frequency light and high brightness environments.
VIDEO SETTINGS
Move the cursor to VIDEO SETTINGS and click Iris+ to enter the submenu. In this menu you can set the
IMAGE MODE, WHITE BALANCE, BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, SHARPNESS, SATURATION, 3 DNR, and MIRROR
congurations.

IMAGE MODE: This feature is used to adjust the image saturation. You can select either STD (Standard) or
HIGH-SAT (High Saturation).
WHITE BALANCE: White balance, the white rendition function of the camera, is to adjust the color
temperature according to the environment. It can remove unrealistic color casts in the image. You can set
WHITE BALANCE mode to AUTO or MANUAL.
AUTO: In AUTO mode, white balance is adjusted automatically according to the color temperature of
the scene illumination.
MANUAL: Use Manual to set the R-GAIN/B-GAIN value from 1 to 255 to adjust the shades of red/
blue color of the image.
BRIGHTNESS: Brightness refers to the brightness of the image. You can set the BRIGHTNESS value from 1
(darkest) to 9 (brightest).
CONTRAST: This feature enhances the dierence in color and light between parts of an image. You can set
the CONTRAST value from 1 to 9.
SHARPNESS: Sharpness determines the amount of detail an imaging system can reproduce. You can set
the SHARPNESS value from 1 to 9.
SATURATION: Adjust this feature to change the color saturation. The value ranges from 1 to 9.
3 DNR (Digital Noise Reduction): Use 3 DNR function to decrease digital noise in the image. Comparing with
the general 2D digital noise reduction, the 3D digital noise reduction function processes the noise between
two frames besides processing the noise in one frame. The noise will be much less and the video will be
clearer.
MIRROR: This feature is used to reect the image. You can set Mirror to:
OFF: The mirror function is disabled.
H: The image ips 180° horizontally.
V: The image ips 180° vertically.
HV: The image ips 180° both horizontally and vertically.
SMART LIGHT
Under the SMART LIGHT sub-menu, you can set the mode as AUTO or OFF.

AUTO: In AUTO mode, the white light turns on automatically as the environmental illumination
becomes dim.
THRESHOLD controls the sensitivity of the white light with the value ranging from 1 to 3. The
greater the value is, the more sensitive the white light is.
LEVEL controls the brightness of the white light. Values ranging from 1 to 5 (brightest).
OFF: OFF is the default mode.
FUNCTIONS
MOTION: Use the MOTION menu to congure the camera to detect motion in any part of a camera's view.
You can congure full screen or a number of zones in a camera’s view where motion is to be detected.
PRIVACY: Use the privacy mask to cover areas of the video to prevent them from being viewed and
recorded.
FACTORY DEFAULT
Click Iris+ to enter the submenu, and click OK to reset all the settings to the factory default. Click Cancel
to return to the menu without resetting the camera.
EXIT
Move the cursor to EXIT and click Iris+ to exit the menu without saving.
SAVE & EXIT
Move the cursor to SAVE & EXIT, and click Iris+ to save the settings and exit the menu. If new settings are
not saved, they remain in eect only until the camera is powered o or reset.

Cleaning
Clean the camera dome with an approved glass cleaning solution and a lint free cloth.
• Dust can be removed from the unit by wiping it with a soft damp cloth. To remove stains, gently rub
the surface with a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent solution, then rinse and dry it with a
soft cloth.
• Remove all foreign particles, such as plastic or rubber materials, attached to the camera housing.
These may cause damage to the surface over time.
CAUTION
Do not use benzene, thinner or other chemical products on the camera assembly; these may
dissolve the paint and promote damage of the surfaces. Before using any chemical product,
carefully follow the accompanying instructions.
Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause
Nothing appears on the screen - Check the power connection.
- Check the video signal cable connection to the monitor.
- Check camera settings to verify the video resolution mode of the
camera and recorder match
The video image is dim or not clear. - If the camera lens is dirty, clean it with a soft, clean cloth.
- Adjust the monitor controls, if necessary.
- If the camera is facing a very strong light, change the camera position.
- Adjust the lens focus.
The screen is dark. - Adjust the contrast control of the monitor.
- If you have an intermediate device, set the impedance (75 Ω / Hi-Z)
properly, and check the cable connections.
The camera is not working properly and
the surface of the camera is hot.
- Verify that the camera is correctly connected to an appropriate regulated
power source.
The image on the monitor ickers - Make sure that the camera isn’t facing direct sunlight or uorescent light.
If necessary,change the camera position.
