Your new UltraStream by AlkaWay is a ‘state of the art’ 8-stage water system.
It is designed to provide you with many years of ultrapure alkaline ionized
hydrogen rich water.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
These important messages
are essential reading.
THE DRIP
Yes, your UltraStream may drip for some time after use.
It’s not a leak or a fault. It is the result of the molecular
hydrogen being created by our special O-Dobi media as it
reacts with residual water in your UltraStream.
It doesn’t stop working when you turn off the tap. The
hydrogen (the active ingredient that makes your water so
benecial to health) pushes water above it up and out of
the spout. If it bothers you, tip the unit forward to drain this
layer of top water.
We recommend that if you decide you really can’t tolerate
a drip, return your unit before use. (Valid within 30 days of
purchase)
THE ULTRASTREAM FILTER
..has been University laboratory tested to over 3000 litres,
sufcient for a family of 4, each drinking 2 litres per day
under normal municipal water quality conditions.
We do not replace a cracked lter for free. We will replace
it, but will require a contribution from you based on the
number of months you have received puried water from
your system.
GOING AWAY?
All water lters can act like compost bins.
They accumulate ‘compost’ as they lter. So at any
time your lter is a repository of the various sediments
and contaminants it has stopped. This is OK while the
UltraStream (or any lter) is being regularly used, but
problems may arise if you leave it without use for extended
periods.
Some people increase the problem by having their
UltraStream exposed to the sun, making for ideal
‘composting’ conditions. So if you are travelling, put your
whole unit into a plastic bag and store it in the refrigerator.
INSTALLATION
We encourage you to read the manual VERY carefully.
Experience tells us that many people DON’T read it,
but a few minutes now will reward you with a better
understanding of just how good your investment in health
is.
BEST PRACTICE: FRESH IS BEST
For maximum antioxidant effect try to drink a full glass at a
time rather than sip it during the day. Molecular hydrogen is
the smallest known element and it slowly leaves the water.
That’s why you’ll derive most benet from drinking as much
as you comfortably can at one time. To learn about this

It’s up to you to decide how much you want to drink per
day. Different medicos suggest different amounts but a
minimum of 2 litres is the consensus.
TRANSPORT + STORAGE
Because it’s the smallest atom in the universe, hydrogen
can easily pass through most materials, including a well-
sealed plastic bottle. We recommend only glass or metal
containers, with a good seal/cap. Finally, even though you
are carrying it with you, try to drink it ASAP because this
will ensure you get the maximum benet.
PLUMBERS
We apologise to the ‘good’ plumbers. We know you are
out there! But we have had experience of plumbers who
try to install UltraStream in their own way. That’s why you
should familiarise yourself with the installation instructions
in this manual, especially if you are installing the undersink
version. We DO NOT warranty incorrect installations and
would much rather have a good happy relationship with
you, our valued customer.
SLOW OR NO FLOW
If you suddenly nd little or no water coming out of youyr
UltraStream it’s probably becasue your base plate has
rotated, turning off the stop valve in the base. Lift it up,
remove the base plate and adjust the blue and white tap
under the lter. If your UltraStream is slowly reducing
in ow, it may be that it is nearing its end of use. If you
continue to turn on your tap after it ceases owing either
your hose or your lter cartridge may fail.
It may also have stopped ow because your tap is turned
off.

INSTALLATION STEPS
1. Remove existing aerator from your faucet.
2. Attach your Ultra diverter to your faucet.
Take case not to twist the hose. (Also, a little Teon plumbers’
tape may be needed).
If you need the hose to be shorter, unscrew the collar on the
diverter, remove the hose, and cut to preferred length.
Re-attach hose by inserting hose end into collar, pushing hose
onto diverter and screwing the collar tightly.
If your kitchen faucet’s thread does not match our diverter,
please check whether any of the alternative attachment rings
provided with your ultraStream work and if not please contact
your dealer or go to our website at www.alkaway-international.
com/diverter.
3. TURN ON WATER
pull the diverter pin to divert ow into your UltraStream.
4. RUN THE ULTRASTREAM
for approximately 20 mins at around 1 litre per minute to
remove lter dust residues and fully soak the lter media.
Do not drink this water.
5. FLOW CONTROL
UltraStream’s base has a mains pressure certied ow valve
inside of it. Insert 2 ngers and pull the base off. You can then
adjust the valve inside the base. The valve is a blue and white
plastic. You are aiming for a ow rate that will give you a pH of
around 9.5. This may take a few tries using the pH reagent to
check pH. Once set, this will ensure the same pH every time you
use it.
6. FIRST FLUSH
After installing the diverter, turn on the tap and let it run
through the UltraStream for at least 20 minutes. It may appear
discoloured due to carbon and other media ‘nes’ being ushed
out. Once output water clears, the ltered water may be
used directly for drinking, washing and cooking.
7. TURNING OFF
When you turn off ow at your faucet, ltered water
may still ow for 20-30 seconds. This is due to residual
pressure that may build up inside the UltraStream’s
highly efcient lter. It will also drip for some time due to
the power of the hydrogen generation in the lter.
If unused for a few days, rst use water may be slightly
grey and have a strong taste. This is caused by initial
output water soaking in the energising media ever since
you last used it.
Allow water to run for 1-3 minutes through the Ultra or
until it becomes clear once more.
pH TESTING
In your carton you’ll nd a pH Reagent bottle. Use the
dropper to test water from your UltraStream.
Do NOT consume the reagent or water with the reagent
in it. The colour on the test strip corresponds to the pH
of the water. The pH of your water is affected by (a) the
pH of your input water and (b) the rate of ow of the
UltraStream. There’s little you can do about your source
water but you can adjust the pH by adjusting the ow
using the valve on the underside. We recommend a pH
of around 9.5 for best results, but because this is an
unbuffered pH, higher readings will not affect you.
Always taste to test for palatability. First days of use
may have a stronger taste.
UNDERSINK
INSTALLATION
The UltraStream has an excellent optional under-
sink installation kit. It includes a specially designed
ceramic faucet with special venting that ensures the
UltraStream is protected from high mains pressure
and water hammer. THIS FAUCET MUST BE USED.
Warranty on your system is void if you use a
different undersink faucet system.
Unqualied installation is also not guaranteed. Install
at your own risk.

To install a new lter, reverse this process.
1. Screw on new lter to base.
(Do not overtighten).
2. Clip on cap.
3. Attach spout.
FILTER LIFE
The UltraStream lter has been tested using
municipal water up to 3500 litres. We asked for this
from an independent laboratory based on 2 litres
per person for a family of four.
We can’t guarantee you will get that amount
of water from your UltraStream before you
need a lter change because all lters can only
perform within the connes of the water they
processe. Your UltraStream lter may, therefore,
last a longer or shorter time.In some cases
contaminants or sediment in your water can
block the lter, which may cause it to crack
open.
We strongly recommend that you change your lter at or before the recommended
12 month point. A water lter’s job is to gather toxins from your water, both organic
and inorganic. When it becomes overloaded it has the potential to become a health
hazard as it releases excess toxins back into your output water.
To ensure you protect yourself we have create an automatic reminder system for our

We DO NOT guarantee 12 months’ lter life.
We also cannot guarantee performance in non-civic supply areas due to the possibility
of water conditions outside of our test criteria.
4. If installing the UltraStream
yourself, please remain in compli-
ance with this manual to main-
tain your warranty. If not installed
under local or national authority
compliance the warranty is void.
5. If ow reduces, it’s probably
time to change the lter. This
may occur earlier than expected
if the quality of your input water
is poor.
6. After replacing your cartridge,
run water through the
UltraStream for around 20
minutes.
7. When you are away from
home for more than a few days,
turn off the water supply to your
UltraStream. This prevents pres-
sure that may remain in the
tubes and cartridge from causing
damage.
8. Remember: UltraStream isn’t
just a water lter; it’s a water
ionizer using pure magnesium to
generate the negative ions in the
water. If sealed off this can create
extra pressure, so never seal the
UltraStream.
9. To clean your UltraStream, do
not use solvents. Warm soapy
water is just ne.
10. If you choose to install or use
the UltraStream outside of these
recommendations, damage may
result.
11. We recommend you keep a
copy of this manual in a visible
place close to your UltraStream.
12. UltraStream is not designed
for use by chiildtran without re-
sponsible adult supervision.
13. UltraStream is constructed of
EPA approved recyclable BPA-free
plastics. All media and materials
used are NSF and FDA approved.
14. When unpacking, please
remove and recycle unwanted
packaging.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
1. Your UltraStream is best located on the kitchen benchtop supply.
2. Never place the UltraStream in a freezer.
3. Do not run hot water through your UltraStream.

Replacing your lter on the UltraStream is the easiest change ever.

WHAT TO EXPECT
FROM YOUR OWN
ULTRASTREAM
Our customers buy their UltraStream for different reasons.
Some buy for uoride reduction some because of the su-
perior chlorine and chloramine reduction, some for heavy
metals reduction. Others buy because they have understood
it is a great alternative to an electric water ionizer, delivering
benecal alkaline minerals independent of the amount in the
incoming water. This is far superior to electric systems that
depend upon alkaline minerals in the inlet water. If you have
rainwater you’ll have virtually no alkaline minerals in your
home supply, but the UltraStream actually adds benecial
magnesium and calcium.
Filtration
Some buy simply because they have concluded that as a
water lter it is vastly superior to the majority of lters on
the market, using FDA and NSF approved US made media,
backed up by our University Lab tests for the life of the lter.
Hydrogen
Many of our newer customers are ordering because they
understand the importance of molecular hydrogen. These
people have researched the benets of alkaline or hydrogen
rich water and have usually spent some time researching the
subject. They have read enough of the 400+ scientic studies
of its benets and have also read how the UltraStream deliv-
ers almost 4 x the hydrogen of popular electric systems. To
get the effect of hydrogen rich water it’s important to drink it
quickly. H2 is a gas that easily leaves its host.
So you can expect superb ltration of any municipal water.
You can also expect that your UltraStream water will have an
effect upon you when you begin drinking it. We have found
responses vary enormously. Some people tell us that it’s the
best water they’ve ever tasted while others may take time
to get used to the taste. The taste of your water is ultimately
dependent upon your water supply and how our O-Dobi
hydrogen generating media responds to your water.
Starting Off
We recommend beginning with a high ow rate (tap fully on).
This keeps the pH of the water low and although it doesn’t
make full use of the O-Dobi, it allows your body to become
accustomed to your new water. In the beginning we sug-
gest 1-2 glasses a day, building to at least 2 litres per day,
and reducing the ow rate to increase the pH and hydrogen
capacity. In this way your body has time to adjust to the de-
toxifying, antioxidant and superhydrating of the UltraStream
water. For most water supplies we recommend 1 litre per
minute ow rate. This is adjusted by adjusting the stop valve
in the base. (see Flow Control section)
Detox Effects
New drinkers may experience a range of symptoms. Most
common are body aches, headaches, foginess or skin condi-
tions. All of these conditions are caused by stored toxins
being released, but if symptoms persist contact a registered
medical practitioner. It’s always wise to notify your general
practitioner of any change to your health regimen.
Once you become a regular drinker you may experience a
whole range of positive health symptoms.

SERVICE/WARRANTY
We offer a combination one and 3 year warranty. Your one
year warranty is you statutory warranty against defects in
manufacture. Please note that the lter is not covered as nor-
mal use will often result in leakage after it reaches its maxi-
mum lifespan. If a lter fails structurally before 12 months
we will supply a new lter at a price pro-rated on the months
use you gained from it.
Warranty is from purchase date.
Alkaway disclaims all implied warranties, including without
limitation, warranties of merchantability and tness for a
particular purpose. Your warranty gives you specic legal
rights which may vary from state to state. Alkaway is not re-
sponsible for any liability beyond the replacement of the unit
itself due to manufacturing defects. Alkaway, the warrantor,
assumes no liability for incidental or consequential damages,
for damages arising out of misuse or unqualied installation
of the product or the use or any unauthorised attachment, or
for damages arising from the use of the product with a faulty
water supply or faucet.
If you are sending your UltraStream for repair, a Return
Authorisation should be arranged with your supplier. Please
pack carefully and include purchase details.

Flow stopped? Pick up your UltraStream,
remove baseplate and adjust stop valve.
Still no flow? Filter may be full. Time to
change your filter.
