1.5 Safety
NOTICE
Property damage due to transient overvoltages
Transient overvoltages (surges, bursts) in the energy supply network can lead to malfunctions and
failures.
uUse suitable mains filters that are professionally installed and operated.
NOTICE
Damage due to electrostatic discharge (ESD)
Electrical components and modules can be damaged by only slight, hardly noticeable electrostatic

2 System overview
The IF-4077-4 access manager includes the following functions:
nOperation in conjunction with a host system for access control or time recording (e.g., IF-6020 or
IF-6040)
nConnection of 4 readers via 4 integrated I/O controller boards as well as up to 12 additional readers
via RS-485 interfaces on the IF-4072 controller.
nAccess control including door control and monitoring
nStorage of data required for offline operation, e.g. person records, day and week programs, and local
permissions
nOffline Mode: In offline mode, the access manager takes over the functions of the host system. It
checks and acknowledges booking permissions during identification procedures at readers.

4 Connecting the access manager
4.1 Cable routing
Observe the notes under Cable lengths and cable types [}4].
Recommended way to lay the cables to the housing:
nPower supply cable and protective earth: Bottom side
nCables of terminals and actuators: left or right side
NOTICE
Property damage due to improper cable routing
Improper connection of the access manager may result in damage to the device.
a) Bundle the cables before feeding them to the device
b) Ground the shields of the cables with the shield connection terminals
c) Secure the cables using the shield connection terminals
d) Connect the cables and cable shields according to the specifications in this documentation

1Knockout 2Grommet
3Cable tie 4Shield connection terminals
Use acid-free lubricants, e.g. WD40, to prevent damage to the grommets.
If more than one cable has to be passed through one grommet, several holes have to be made in
the grommet. A maximum of 3 cables can be fed through one grommet.
Procedure
1. Break out the knockouts 1 using a suitable tool, e.g. a screwdriver.
2. Cover edges with the enclosed grommets 2
3. Pierce a small hole in the grommet and feed the cable into the device
4. Secure all inserted cables using the shield connection terminals 4
5. Ground the cable shield with the shield connection terminals
6. Use cable ties 3 to bundle the cables outside of the housing

4.2 Wiring components
The cables can be fixed to the cutouts in the bottom plate of the housing with cable ties.
Ethernet network
The device is set up for connection to 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet networks. Connection and speed are
indicated by LEDs on the front panel LEDs and switches.
When assigning the IP address and setting up the network, observe the current state-of-the-art
technology for securing and segmenting corporate networks. Interflex recommends operating all
installed devices and servers in one VLAN.
Bus data cables with readers
You can connect up to 8 readers to each bus interface. A maximum of 16 readers can be
connected to the controller.
nAlways connect a reader with address 1 to bus 1.
nEvenly distribute the readers among the three bus interfaces. The factory setting for the
interfaces is as follows:
– Bus 1: 6 readers max.
– Bus 2: 4 readers max.
– Bus 3: 6 readers max.
Make sure that each reader has a unique hardware address within the bus.

4.3 Connecting the controller
Connecting the power supply
NOTICE
Malfunction due to improper electrical installation
Improper electrical installation can lead to malfunctions in operation and equipment failures. Therefore,
please note the following:
uUse shielded cables Cable lengths and cable types [}4]
uGround the shields on the devices and cables
uProvide power to actuators (e.g., door openers) separately from terminals/controllers
uUse mains filter
These measures have been implemented in the distributors from Interflex. For further
information, please get in touch with your Interflex contact.
1. Connect the power supply for the controller (Components [}6])
2. Insert the protective each conductor into the housing together with the power supply (Electronic
assembly units [}5])
3. Ground the shields of the bus cables via terminal strip 4
4.4 Connecting the I/O controller board
Terminals are connected to the power supply, door sensors, control elements and the RS485 bus cable
via the I/O controller board.
With terminals of the IF-800 and IF-81x series, the switch for setting the hardware address is mounted on
the I/O controller board. With outdoor terminals, it is mounted in the secured area near to the terminal.

5.1 Connecting the controller to the network
You can connect the controller to the network via a service cable and the serial service interface or via
WLAN with the IF-ServiceApp.
IF-ServiceApp
Prerequisites
üController is connected to the IF-ServiceApp.
Detailed information on this subject can be found in the documentation of the IF-ServiceApp.
Service interface
Accessing the controller via SSH requires the freeware PuTTY version 0.73 or higher:
1. Switching on the power supply
2. Establish serial connection between host computer and controller
3. Open PuTTY
4. Check and adjust parameters
5. Start communication with Open
6. Log in with username fieldservice
7. Specify a password

5 Initial operation
© 2021 Interflex Datensysteme GmbH IF-4077-4 Zutrittsmanager 17
Details on valid password requirements and how to change a password can be found under
Users and passwords.
Only after entering a password are the network services started and the network connection can
be established.
uEstablish network connection
After the power supply has been switched on, the device executes the following actions:
nBoot the operating system
nStart applications
nConnect the devices
When the RUN LED lights up, an SSH connection can be established.
The start-up procedure takes up to 30 seconds.
Leave PuTTY open during the next steps as further entries are required during initial operation.
5.2 Checking and setting network parameters
The netpar -? command lists the call parameters of the netpar command:
fieldservice@IF‑xxx:~ netpar -?
Display or change network parameters (legacy)
Please consider using nmtui or nmcli instead.
Usage: /opt/interflex/bin/netpar [OPTION]
-i show network settings
-x change IP addr., gateway, netmask and port no
-d use default network configuration
-y use DHCP network configuration
-r restart network interface
-h show DHCP configuration
-m change 'SNMPD' options parameters
-w Connecting Wifi profile netpar-wifi
-? print this help screen
Input syntax for commands
Observe the following input syntax for commands:
nCommands are written in lowercase.
nOptions are separated from the command by a blank and the minus sign.
n-? lists all possible command options.
nPress the Enter key to confirm command lines and data.
nTo save new data, you must confirm the Write to EEPROM (y/n)? prompt by entering y for yes.
nModified data only becomes effective after a restart, e.g. after a cold boot.
nSSH connections must be properly terminated after configuration.
