WARNING: Riding an electric skateboard can be a dangerous activity. Certain conditions
may cause components to fail without fault of the manufacturer. The skateboard can and
is intended to move and it is therefore possible to lose control, fall off and/or get into
dangerous situations that no amount of care, instruction or expertise can eliminate. If
such a thing does occur you can become seriously injured or die, even when using safety
equipment and other safety precautions. RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND ALWAYS USE
COMMON SENSE.
This manual contains many warnings and cautions concerning the consequences of failing
to inspect, maintain or properly use your electric skateboard. Since any incident can result
in serious injury or even death, we do not repeat the warning of possible serious injury or
death each time such a possibility is mentioned in this manual.
APPROPRIATE RIDING ATTIRE
Always wear proper protective equipment -
• Approved safety helmet (Helmet may be legally required by local law or regulation in
your area.)
• Elbow pads and knee pads
• Long sleeved shirt & long pants
• Gloves
• Lace up shoes with rubber soles, never ride barefooted or in sandals, and insure that
shoelaces are tied and kept out of the way of the wheels and drive system.
RIDER USE AND PARENTAL SUPERVISION
RIDER MUST NOT EXCEED THE WEIGHT LIMIT OF 120 pounds (54kg). Rider weight
does not always mean a person’s size is appropriate to t or maintain control of the electric
skateboard.
This manual contains extremely important safety information. It is your responsibility to
completely review this information and make sure that all riders understand all warnings,
cautions, instructions and safety topics and assure that all riders are able to safely and
responsibly use this skateboard. Altered® advises that you periodically review and
reinforce all information in this manual with all riders, and that you inspect and maintain
your skateboard to insure their safety.
The recommended rider age is 8 years and older. Any rider that is unable to t comfortably
on the electric skateboard should never attempt to ride it. A parent’s decision to allow their
child to use electric skateboard should be based on the child’s maturity, skill and their
ability to follow rules.
Do not touch the motor on the skateboard when in use or directly after use as these parts
can become extremely hot.
Keep this skateboard away from small children and remember that it is intended for use
only by persons who are, at a minimum, completely competent and comfortable while
operating this product.

Operating
PREPARATION
Be sure that you are thoroughly familiar with all of the features and controls
explained in this manual before you ride.
ADJUST THE BOARD’S SPEED-ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE
Your board has 3 adjustable speed/acceleration ranges. Factory preset is the middle
position favored by most riders. To change (1) Turn off the wireless remote. (2) Remove
battery cover from base of remote. (3) Set the slide switch according to these guidelines.
Slide switch
shown in Middle
position
-Middle Position- Fullspeed/controlledacceleration
Recommended for most riders, this factory preset
setting offers top speed but will accelerate more
gradually to help keep a rider on the board during
sudden trigger squeezes.
- Far Right Position - Full speed/full throttle control
Recommended for only the most experienced riders
offers acceleration in direct response to trigger
pressure. Sudden trigger squeezes result in immediate
acceleration – full, direct control so be careful!
- Far Left Position - Low speed maximum
Recommended for beginners and anyone who wants a
slower, more controlled speed.
POWER ON – BOARD LINKS & LOCKS-ON TO REMOTE CONTROL
Each board comes “paired” to the remote control unit that is shipped with the board. Each
time you turn on your board and remote they will search to nd each other and link/lock-
on. Follow these steps to get started (one board at a time if in a group)
1 - Press the board power switch (A) to the “On”
Position. The LED will turn red after 3 seconds –
the board is ready to link to your remote control.
2 - Turn on the remote control (B). The remote’s
red LED will ash & tone conrming remote is
powered.
- After 4 seconds remote LED turns on showing
board is linked. (LED will begin to ash every 2-3
seconds, showing board is linked.)
- Skateboard LED Skateboard LED’s will display
one green, one red light once properly linked.

Operating Cont.
NOTE - If your board does not link, you will need to re-“pair” the board with the
remote. Follow the instructions offered on our website link to re-pair the units at www.
Fantomskateboard.com
ACCELERATION & BRAKING WITH REMOTE CONTROL
The wireless remote control regulates the speed & braking of the board through the trigger.
- Pulling the trigger toward you accelerates the board.
- Releasing the trigger returns it to the neutral position and allows you to coast. In neutral
the belt-drive wheel will slow the board down slightly, even when coasting downhill.
- Pushing the trigger away from you engages braking. Braking begins very gradually to
keep you from being thrown forward off the board.
BE CAREFUL WHEN APPLYING FULL BRAKE. IF BRAKING HARD, CROUCH
SLIGHTLY TO KEEP FROM BEING THROWN FORWARD OFF THE BOARD.
- AAA Remote batteries are running low when remote controller begins making a series
of continuous double beeps (“beepbeep… beepbeep…beepbeep…”). Replace or
recharge the AAA batteries. The remote can shut off when the batteries are low. This will
cause the board’s fail-safe braking mode to engage. Do not ride your board if the batteries
in the remote are low.
- Reset Button - An excessive overload (steep incline or too heavy of a rider) could
cause the motor to overheat and trip the reset button. If this occurs (skateboard suddenly
stops running) wait a few seconds and push the reset button in to reset the circuit. Avoid
repeatedly tripping the reset button.
Turning off either unit breaks the locked-on link. Repeat process to re-link. Once board
and remote are linked, signal interference from other boards and most other electronic
sources is eliminated.
WARNING! Your Altered® Electric Skateboard is powerful. Never pull the
trigger quickly or release it suddenly with no resistance or you can be thrown
off the board. If traveling at high speed, pushing the trigger forward quickly
(engaging the brake) could throw you forward, headrst off the front of the
board. Know your limits and accelerate and brake accordingly!
WARNING! Running or jumping onto skateboards can be dangerous!
Never ride without the following protective gear: head protection, hand/wrist
protection, knee protection, elbow protection!

Regular Maintenance Requirements
RIDING TIPS
- Trigger is sensitive! Pull the trigger very slowly until you start to feel the motor engage.
If you get on the board and pull the trigger quickly the board will throw you off the back. To
decrease speed, slowly release the trigger. Letting the trigger return to its starting position
puts the board in neutral.
- To brake, push the trigger forward, away from you. Braking power is relative to the speed
you are traveling. If you are at full speed when you engage the brakes, more brake will
be applied than if you were coasting in neutral. Maximum speed and stopping distance
depend on your weight and the riding surface.
- If the remote control and board lose connection (connection range can be up to 125 feet),
the motor will go into partial braking mode and gradually slow down.
- Turn the board and remote control off when not in use to maximize battery life. If you
notice unreliable communication with the board, replace the four AAA batteries in the
remote control.
- Never ride down hills as you can lose control of your board.
NOTE - Your board also has an automatic shut-off to prolong battery life. The board turns
off after about 5 minutes of non-use. Your remote turns off after 3 minutes of non-use. Turn
back on and follow the linking sequence to restart.
UNDER NORMAL USE, YOUR BOARD WILL REQUIRE ONLY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AS DESCRIBED BELOW.
MAINTENANCE WARNING
REGULAR MAINTENANCE ENHANCES THE SAFETY OF THE BOARD. FOLLOW
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS TO REDUCE RISK OF MALFUNCTION AND INJURY.
Different materials in each part of the board (metal, wood, polyurethane) require different
maintenance as described below. Before riding or anytime something does not feel
right make the following checks.
CHECK FITTINGS – BUT DON’T OVERTIGHTEN!
Self-locking nuts and other self-locking ttings may lose their effectiveness. Check
all fasteners for tightness before every use, especially if used on rough surfaces that
cause vibration. This will require an allen wrench and different sized sockets or open-
ended wrenches. Check and tighten all screws and nuts after every 4 to 5 hours of riding.
Do not over-tighten as stripping can result. Snug is tight enough.

Visit our website at www.fantomskateboard.com for replacement parts and technical support.12
Regular Maintenance Requirements Cont.
KEEP THE BOARD DRY
Your electric skateboard is not waterproof and must not be ridden in the rain, mud,
or other wet areas to prevent electrical damage. Always keep your board clean and dry.
STEERING - TRUCKS & BUSHINGS ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE
Altered boards do not turn like conventional skateboards – Altered / Exkate® trucks are not
like conventional skateboard trucks. TIGHTENING THE TRUCKS DOES NOT CHANGE
THE STIFFNESS OR TURNING RADIUS. DO NOT ADJUST THE TRUCK’S KINGPIN
BOLT OR YOU CAN SPLIT THE BUSHING! The trucks and bushings are factory preset
and should not be adjusted. The bushings are specially formulated to absorb shock
and provide positive steering control. Although specially formulated for extremely long
life, the bushings located in the trucks of your board will wear over time. If the truck is
too loose or the bushing appears worn or cracked, replace them with the same
special bushings that are standard equipment on the board. Trucks and bushings are
available through www.Fantomskateboard.com.
WHEELS & BEARINGS
The drive wheel will wear considerably more than the other three wheels. If your drive
wheel is closer than ¼-inch to the belt housing you need to replace the drive wheel. Other
wheels wear more slowly. If non-drive wheels wear to within ¼-inch of their black center
hub you need to replace the wheel. Wheel bearings are sealed and normally do not need
lubrication. If non-drive wheels do not spin freely, you can add drops of common machine
lubricating oil to loosen. If oil is not effective, or if sand or grit gets in a bearing, it needs
to be replaced. Contact www.Fantomskateboard.com to order wheels, bearings and other
parts.
BATTERY MAINTENANCE
To maintain maximum life, always keep your batteries charged when storing for
extended periods of time. Charge your board at least once a month to maintain battery
life. Recharge your board even after short rides to maintain healthy batteries. Order
replacement batteries from www.Fantomskateboard.com.
Distinguish the + (positive) and – (negative) polarity carefully while replacing the battery.
Red wire is for + (positive) and Black wire is for – (negative).
DRIVE BELT
Drive belts will last a long time, but eventually will wear out. Hard starts and stops
and heavier riders accelerate drive belt wear. Order replacement belts from www.
Fantomskateboard.com.
DECKS & METAL EDGES
Normal wear will sometimes create rough or sharp edges on metal parts or splinters on
the deck. Regularly check components and replace as necessary.

Visit our website at www.fantomskateboard.com for replacement parts and technical support. 13
