installed properly, remove the storage drawer
and look under the range with a flashlight.

WARNING

supply before any servicing.
WARNING

use grill or griddle if fan is not in operation. In unlikely

ALL APPLIANCES
1. Proper Installation—Be sure your appliance is
properlyinstalledandgrounded by aqualified
technician.
2. NeverUse Your Appliance for Warming or Heating the
Room.
3. Do NotLeaveChildrenAlone—Childrenshould not be
alone or unattended in the area where the appliance
is in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand
onanypartoftheappliance.
4. WearProtectiveApparel—Loosefittingorhanging
garments should never be worn while using appliance.
5. UserServicing—Donotrepair or replaceanypartof
theapplianceunlessspecificallyrecommendedinthe
manual.All other servicing should be referred to a

SURFACE COOKING UNITS
1. UseProperPanSize—Thisapplianceisequipped
withone or more surface units of different size. Select
utensilshaving flat bottoms large enough to cover the
surfaceunitheating element. The use of undersized
utensilswill expose a portion of the heating element
to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing.
Properrelationshipofutensiltoburnerwillalso
improveefficiency.
2. NeverLeaveSurface Units UnattendedatHighHeat
Settings—Boilover causes smoking and greasy
spillovers that may ignite.
3. Make Sure Reflector Pans or Drip Bowls Are in
Place- Absence of these pans or bowls during
cookingmaysubjectwiringorcomponents
underneathtodamage.
4. ProtectiveLiners—Donot use aluminum foil to line
dripbowlsorovenbottoms. Improper installationof
these liners may result in a risk of electrical shock, or
fire.
5. Glazed Cooking Utensils—Only certain types of
glass, ceramic, earthware, or other glazed utensils
aresuitable for range top service without breaking due
tosuddenchangein temperature.

Important Safety Information
In Case of Fire
Fires can occur as a result of over cooking or excessive
grease.Though a fire is unlikely, if one occurs, proceed
as follows:
Surface Element Fire
1. Smotherthefirewitha nonflammable lid or baking
soda, or use a Class ABC or BC extinguisher. Not
water. Not salt. Not flour.
2. As soon as it is safe to do so, turn the surface
controls to “OFF”.
OvenFires
1. Ifyouseesmokefromyouroven, do not open oven
door.
2. Turnovencontrol to“OFF”.
3. Asan added precaution, turn off power at main circuit
breaker or fuse box.
4. Turnon venttoremovesmoke.
5. Allowfood or grease to burn itself out in oven.
6. Ifsmokeand fire persist, call fire department.
7. Ifthere is any damage to components, call your repair
servicebeforeusing range.
Precautions
•Donotcookfooddirectlyonrangetopsurface,
always use cookware.
•Donotmixhouseholdcleaningproducts. Chemical
mixturesmayinteractwithobjectionableoreven
hazardous results.
•Do not put plastic items on warm cooking areas.
They may stick and melt.
•Do not slide rough metal objects across range top
surface. Scratching or metal marking can result.
•Do not use cookware with rough bottoms. They
may scratch element surface. Glass and ceramic
cookware can be used on coil elements.
•Do not use damp sponge or dishcloth to clean
rangetop.Afilmofsoil-ladendetergentwatermay
collecton range top. If this should happen, Amana
ASAP® CleanerConditioner removesthistypeof
stain.
•Donotleavefatheating unless you remain nearby.
Fatcan ignite if overheated by spilling onto hot
surfaces.
•Do not allow pots to boil dry because this can
cause damage to cooking surface and pan.
•Do not use range top surface as a cutting board.
6. UtensilHandlesShouldbeTurned Inward andNot
ExtendOverAdjacentSurface Units—To reducethe
riskofburns,ignitionofflammablematerials,and
spillage due to unintentional contact with the utensil,
the handle of a utensil should be positioned so that it
isturnedinward,anddoesnotextendoveradjacent
surface units.
7. DoNotSoakRemovableHeatingElements—Heating
elements should never be immersed in water.
OVENS
1. UseCare When Opening Door—Let hot air or steam
escapebeforeremovingorreplacingfood.
2. DoNotHeatUnopened Food Containers—Build-upof
pressure may cause container to burst and result in
injury.
3. KeepOvenVentsDuctsUnobstructed.
4. PlacementofOvenRacks—Alwaysplaceovenracks
in desired location while oven is cool. If rack is
removedwhileovenis hot, donotletpotholder
contact hot heating element in oven.
SELF-CLEANING OVENS
1. DoNotClean Door Gasket—The door gasket is
essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to
rub, damage, or move the gasket.
2. DoNotUseOven Cleaners—No commercialoven
cleaner orovenlinerprotective coatingofanykind
should be used in or around any part of the liner.
3. Clean Only Parts Listed in Manual.
4. BeforeSelf-Cleaning theOven—Removebroilerpan
and other utensils.
GLASS/CERAMIC COOKING SURFACES
1. DoNotCookonBrokenCooktop—Ifcooktopshould
break,cleaningsolutionsandspilloversmay
penetrate the broken cooktop and create a risk of
electrical shock. Contact a qualified technician
immediately.
2. CleanCooktop With Caution—If a wet sponge or cloth
is used to wipe spills on a hot cooking area, be
carefulto avoid a steam burn. Some cleaners can
producenoxious fumes if applied to a hot surface.
VENTILATION HOODS
1. CleanVentilationHoodsFrequently—Greaseshould
notbe allowed to accumulate on hood or filter.
2. Whenflamingfoods underhood,turnfan off.Thefan,
ifoperating,mayspreadtheflame.

StandardCabinetandCountertopHeight
WARNING
To avoidriskofburns or fire byreachingoverheated
surface units, cabinet storage space located above
rangeshouldbeavoided.Ifcabinetstorageistobe
provided,theriskcanbereduced by installing a range
hood that projects horizontally a minimum of 5 inches
beyond the bottom of the cabinets.
Packing Material
Removeprotectivepackingmaterialsfrom range.Tape
residue can be cleaned with a soft cloth and alcohol.
Range Location
Choosealocationbasedonfollowingfactors.
•Rangeisdesignedtobeventedoutdoors.
•Draftscausedbyhomeheatingandairconditioning
andopendoors or windows can disrupt ventilation
airpattern.Rangeshouldnotbeinstallednear
windows or doors.
•Range can not be installed in a tunnel type wall
opening. Aircurrentsmovingthroughtunnelcan
disruptventilationair pattern.
•Rangecan either be ducted through wall or through
floortooutside.
•Makesurethere is adequate space for proper
installation.
•Carefullyreadallinstructionsbeforebeginning
installation.
Removeprotectivepackingmaterialsfrom range.Tape

Cabinet Opening
Rangeshould extendapproximately11/2inch from cabinet
fronttoovendoorhandle. Removeventingkitfrom
storage drawer. Usingdimensionsin figure belowand
shown inSpecial Counter top Conditions section to
prepare cabinet opening.

surfaceandbottom of an unprotected wood or
metal cabinet.
•24 inches between cooking surface and protected
woodormetal cabinet above range. Cabinet bottom
must be protected by at least ¼ inch thick
millboard with not less than No. 28 MSG sheet
steel, .015 inch thick stainless steel, .024 inch
thick aluminum, or .020 inch thick copper.

Special Counter Top Conditions
Irregular Cabinet and Counter Top Heights
Counter tops such as ceramic tile tops cause cabinet and
countertoptobehigherthan36inches. Follow instructions
below when counter top is higher than 36 inches.
1. Raiselevelinglegstomaximum level.
2. Measure from floor to side trim. If measurement is
less than height of counter top floor must be
shimmed.
3. Shim floor using a piece of plywood same size as
rangeopening.Secureplywoodtofloor. Plywood
must be as secure as original flooring.
4. Install anti-tip bracket and slide range into place.
Island or Peninsula Installation
Island or peninsula installations with 24 inch deep base
cabinetsmustuseflushbackcabinetswithnoreartoespace
toavoidrangeinterference. Ifareartoespaceisdesired,use
27 inch or deeper base cabinets.
•Fora manufactured counter top, with or without a
backsplash, make cutout keeping rear dimension
as illustrated. The backrail on back of range slides
overmanufacturedcountertopcreatingatightfit.
•Backrail may not reach backwall because of
counter top. Corner of backrail can be clipped off
withapairofwirecutters for a tighter fit.

Duct Requirements
•Duct should be 6 inch round metal ducting. Island
or peninsula installations may require 31/4X10inch
duct.
•Toensureproperventilation,duct work mustnot
exceed60equivalent feet.
•Curvedfittingsshould not account for more than
50% of duct length.
•Flexible duct is not recommended because of
irregular interior surface. If flexible duct is to be
used, one foot is equal to 2 feet of metal duct.
NEVERUSEPLASTICTYPEDRYERDUCTING.
•Do not vent into an attic or crawl space. Duct range
outside.
•Flexible duct elbows are equal to twice as many
feet as smooth metal elbows.
•Neverinstalltwoelbowfittingsnexttoeachother.
Twoelbowsinstalled together create a poor vent
pathandinsufficient ventilation.
•Seal all duct joints tightly using duct tape.
Openings left in ducting allow smoke and odor to
escape inside house.
•Forbestperformance,donotuseoverthree90°
elbows.
•6 inch transition duct provided must be
mechanically secured to exhaust blower outlet.
Secure transition duct using two screws provided.

Backwall Duct Location
1. Locate studs in wall.
2. Measureand cut an opening for thimble as illustrated
infigurebelow. Cutout should be 61/8inch diameter
circle.
3. Ducting is completed in Backwall Duct Connection
section.
Floor Duct Location
1. Locate studs in floor.
2. Measure to locate center of floor duct location. See
figure below.
•For installation with counter top or backsplash
behind range, measure 131/8 inchesfor dimension
“A”
•Forinstallationwithoutcountertoporbacksplash
behindrange,measure 115/8inches fordimension
“A”.
3. Cutanopeningforfloor transition piece as illustrated
in figure below. Cutout should be 71/4x 71/4inches
square. If opening is not correctly aligned, duct does
not connect properly.

Maximum allowable duct length is 60 equivalent feet.
•Use Recommended Standard Fittings in figures
below to calculate duct length.
•Flexibleduct is not recommended. However, if it is
used, one foot is equal to two feet of smooth metal

Anti-tip Bracket Installation
To reduce risk of range tipping, secure range with a
properly installed anti-tip bracket(s). Use either
rectangular or L-shaped anti-tip bracket packed with
range. Follow appropriate instructions.
L-shaped Anti-tip Brackets
1. Measure 51/8inches from back wall on right and left
sideofcabinetcutout.Mark measurements onfloor
and draw a straight line connecting marks.
2. Positionanti-tipbrackets with inside edge over line
drawnon floor and end of bracket against cabinet.
•Ifrangeisnotinstalledbesidecabinet(s),position
range where it will be installed. Draw a line along
side of range on floor from front to back. Remove
range. Place anti-tip bracket with inside edge over
line drawn 51/8inches from back wall and end of
bracket over line drawn along side of range on
floor.
•Anti-tip bracket must be installed on both right and
left side.
3. Mark 2 hole locations in each anti-tip bracket.
4. Drillholes.
•If drilling into wood, use a 3/32 inch drill bit.
•Ifdrillingintoconcrete,usea3/16 inch masonry drill
bit and insert plastic anchors.
5. Secure bracket to floor using screws supplied.
6. Slide range into position.
7. Removerangestoragedrawer and confirmanti-tip
bracketisengagedwithrangelevelingleg.

1. Measure 31/2inches from back wall on right and left
sideofcabinetcutout.Mark measurements onfloor
and draw a straight line connecting marks.
2. Position anti-tip bracket.
•Ifrangeis installed beside cabinet(s), place anti-tip
bracket with back edge on line drawn on floor and
side of bracket against cabinet.
•If range is not installed beside cabinet(s), position
range where it will be installed. Draw a line along
side of range on floor from front to back. Remove
range. Place anti-tip bracket with back edge over
line drawn 31/2inches from back wall and side of
bracket over line drawn along side of range on
floor.
•Anti-tip bracket can be installed on either right or
left side.

Line voltage must not exceed rated voltage. Line voltage
less than rated voltage will result in slow heating. Wiring
systemmustconformtoCanadianElectricalCode.Installation
mustconform toalllocal,municipalandstatebuildingcodes,
andlocalutilityregulations.Rangemustbeconnectedonlytoa
supplycircuitas specifiedonratingplate ofrange.Electrical
outletmustbemountedon floor or wallwithinshadedarea.

Installing Side Trim
If desired, optional side trim provided can be installed on
range. Sidetrimmustbeinstalledabovecountertoplevel
andtapped downintoplace.
Side trim can be mounted in several different positions
depending on counter top opening, cabinet structure, and
rangefeatures.
•Freestanding with Backsplash
Tomount trim flush with front of counter top, use #3
trim holes and “A” range holes.
•4 inch Backrail Kit and Backsplash
Tomount trim flush with front of counter top, use #3
trim holes and “A” range holes.
•OptionalMounting
“A”rangeholesallowanextra3/8inchforward
adjustment. Trim holes #1, #2, and #3 allow a 1/2
inch adjustment. Trim can be mounted in any
desiredlocationusingholesprovided.

Backwall Duct Connection
1. Removescrewinfrontofblowertransitionseparating
blowertransitionfromblowerhousing.
2. Placehoseclamparoundroundendofblower
transition and attach flex duct to blower transition
using hose clamp.
3. Placelong end of thimble into wall and secure thimble
usingfourscrewsprovided,oneineachcorner.
4. Placehoseclampprovidedaround short endof
thimble. Attach opposite end of flex duct to short end
of thimble using hose clamp.
5. Connect electrical supply.
6. Carefullypushrangebackintoposition. Avoid
pinchingtransitionpieceorflexduct.
7. Usingguide screw to locate hole in rear of blower
housing position transition inside blowerhousing.
Rotatetransitionuntilholeinfrontofblowerhousing
isaligned.Securetransitionwithscrewprovided.
8. Seal all duct joints with duct tape.
9. Check under range to be sure leveling leg is fully
engaged in the anti-tip bracket.
10. Installstoragedrawer.
Floor Duct Connection
1. Attach rubber gasket around edge of transition piece.
•Flat side of rubber gasket must be on under side of
transitionpiece.Seefigurebelow.
2. Placeroundendoftransitionpieceintofloor.Secure
transition piece using 8 screws provided in kit.
•Lift edge of rubber gasket to install screws.
•Make sure round edge of gasket is facing up.
3. Insert floor plate into elbow duct.
•Wheninstalled,wide flange of floor plate should
facetoward back of range. If gap exists in front of
cutout, rotate transition piece 180°.
4. Attach floor elbow duct to floor plate using 2 screws
provided.
•Tighten only front screw.
5.Attach floor elbow duct to blower using 2 screws
provided.
•Floorelbowductshouldbeinsideblower.
6.Connect electrical supply.
7.Push range into position.
•Tiltrangeslightly while pushing in range. Tilting
rangeallowsfloorplatetocleargasket.
•Make sure that floor elbow duct is directly over
transition piece and rubber gasket.
•Rubbergasketprovidesasealbetweenfloorelbow
andtransitionpiece.Seefigurebelow.

8.Loosenfrontscrewattachingfloorelbowductplateand
floorelbow duct.
9. Slidefloor plate down tight against rubber gasket and
tighten screw.
10.Sealjointbetween blower and elbow transition piece
with duct tape.
•Check under range to ensure anti-tip bracket is
engaged.
11.Installstoragedrawer.
Level Range
Carefullylevelrangeusing legs provided.Rangemustbe
leveltocookandbakeuniformly.
•Place a level on top oven rack or on top of range
whenleveling.
•Leveling legs must be extended out 1/4 inch to
engage anti-tip bracket.
Removal and Replacement of Range
1. Disconnect electrical supply at house circuit breaker.
2. Disconnectrangeventing.
3. Disconnect power supply cord.
4. Removeanti-tipbracket.
5. Install anti-tip bracket into new location using
instructions provided with bracket.

Installing Grill Module
1. Turn all controls to “OFF”.
2. Insert grill pan as shown.
3. Holdsmokecontrolgrillwithterminalspointing
towardrear of range. Slide terminals into plug as far
as they go.
4. Check smoke control grill to make sure it is fully
engagedinto plug. Grill should rest on grill pan.
•Toremovegrillmodule turn allcontrolsto“OFF”
andreversestepsabove.
Installing Griddle
1. Turn all controls to “OFF”.
2. Insertgrillpanasshown above.
3. Holdgriddleelementwithterminals toward rearof
range and slide terminals into plug as far as they go.
4. Check griddle element to make sure it is fully
engaged into the plug. Griddle element should rest
on grill pan.
5. Withgreasetraptowardfront of range, place griddle
pan on top of element. Griddle pan rests on ledge of
grillpan.
To remove griddle module turn all controls to “OFF” and
reversestepsabove.
Installing Coil, Solid Disk, and Halogen
Element Modules
1. Turn all controls to “OFF”.
2. Holdmodulewith terminalspointingtoward rearof
range.
3. Slide terminals on module into plug.
4. Check module to make sure it is fully engaged in
terminal.
Removing Coil, Solid Disk, and Halogen
Element Modules
1. Turn all controls to “OFF”. Make sure module is cool.
2. Usingtab on front of module, lift up slightly.
•Do not lift module too high. Lifting module too high
can cause damage to terminals.
3. Pullmoduletowardthefrontoftherangetopand
carefullyliftitout.
Cooking with Smoke Control Grill Module
1. Before using grill for first time wash it with warm
soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Lightly wipe
topofgrillsurfacewithcookingoiltopreventfood
fromsticking (do not use shortening or butter). Let
cookingoilremainongrill surface.
2. Trimexcessfatfromaround meats toprevent
smoking and flare-ups.
3. Pushin and turn right or left front control knob

•Ifyou use right or left rear control knob indicator
lights, but element does not heat, and fan does not
operate.
4. Preheatgrillforapproximately10 minutes toimprove
charbroiledflavor.
•DonotheatgrillforextendedperiodsonHIsetting
without food. Extreme temperatures may separate
non-stickfinishfrom metal.
•Do not precook food before grilling unless it is
immediatelyplaced ongrill.
5. Placefoodon grill.
•Checkmeatsfordonenessbefore removingthem
from grill. Meats often brown quickly on outside, but
arenotdoneinmiddle.
•If meat begins to cook too quickly on outside,
reduce grill heat.
6.Whenfinishedcooking,turncontrolto “OFF”.
7. Cleangrillpanandsmokecontrol grill.
•Always use nylon, hard rubber, or wooden kitchen
toolsonconventionalno-stickfinish.

Cooking with Griddle Module
1. Beforeusing griddle for first time, wash with warm

temperaturelimiter. Temperaturelimiterprevents
elementsurfacefrom exceeding880°F.Limiter
reducestemperatureif burnerhasbeenleft onfor
an extended period of time without a pan in place or
if heat has built up as a result of improper contact
with the pan. Solid disk elements hold heat longer
thancoilelements. Therefore, heat can be turned
offearlier in cooking process and food continues to
cook using residual heat.

Cooking with Smoothtop Module
•Useheavy-gaugemetal cookware notincluding
cast iron.
•Bottom of cookware must be flat. Cookware that is
warpedorslightlycurvedon the bottomheats
slowly and may not boil water. Cookware with an
aluminum disk bottom makes excellent contact
with cooking surface. See Utensils section for more
information.
•Do not use glass, glass-ceramic, or enamel-
porcelaincookware.Smallimperfectionsonbottom
of such cookware can scratch smoothtop module
surface.
•Modulesurfaceis not “scratch proof”. Surface is
highly scratch and impact resistant. With
recommendedcookingutensilsandpropercare,it
willcontinuelooking good through years of use.
•Donot use a pan that overhangs burner by more
than 1 inch.

Useto prepare food at less than boiling temperatures or

MEDLO
Useto maintain boiling in moderate amounts of liquid.
MED
Usetomaintainboilingoflarger amounts of food, low
temperature frying and to maintain correct pressure in a
pressure cooker.
MED HI
Usetofrymeatandpoultryortomaintaindeep-fatfrying
temperatures.
HI
Useto bring food to boiling temperatures. When food is
boilingtemperaturesettingshouldbereducedtoMEDLO
through MED HI.
Exhaust Fan
Two speed fan is built into the middle of range top. Fan is
located beneath the vent area. Fan is necessary to
removecookingvapors,odors,andsmoke.
•The fan automatically turns on at low speed when
using grill or griddle. Fan can be manually turned up
to high speed.
•Fancannotbeturnedoffwhile grill or griddle are
operating.
•Fancanbe used during any cooking operation.

Oven Light

Oven Signals
Preheat Signal—After setting oven to bake and selecting
atemperature,ovenpreheats. Whenovenreachesset
temperature, 1 second signal sounds.
End of Cycle Signal—When a timed cooking cycle is
complete, three long signals sound. End of cycle signal
continues to sound until OVEN CANCEL pad is pushed.
If minute timer end of cycle signal is sounding push
TIMERON/OFF pad.
12HourAutomaticCancel—Thisis a safety feature that
preventsovenfromcontinuing to operateifithas been left
onforover12hours.Ifa cooking function continues longer
than 12 hours without any options on oven control being
touched, this feature turns oven off. Any time an option is
touched, 12 hour automatic cancel is reset.

Cooking Utensils
•Use proper pan size. Do not use a pan that has a
bottom smaller than element. Do not use utensils
thatoverhangelement by more than 1 inch.
•Use care when using glazed cooking utensils.
Some glass, earthenware, or other glazed utensils
breakduetosuddentemperaturechanges.
•Select utensils without broken or loose handles.
Handles should not be heavy enough to tilt pan.
•Select utensils with flat bottoms.
•Do not use a wok with a ring stand.

results, use a pan with a flat bottom.

cookingtimes. However, if a pan has a gap, formed
rings, or an uneven bottom, it does not cook
efficiently and in some cases may not boil water.
CAUTION
Using cast iron cookware is not recommended.
