the Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb (Dimmable Soft White, Tunable

Getting Started
Q: How do I Download the Alexa App?
A: Download and install the latest Alexa App from your mobile device app
store.
1.
Open the app store on your mobile device.
2.
Search for Amazon Alexa app.
3.
Select Install.
4.
Select Open and sign in with your Amazon Account.
5.
Install Alexa widgets (optional).
Q: Is 2.4GHz Wi-Fi required?
A: Yes. 2.4GHz network is required for setup
Q: I have a dual Wi-Fi router. How could I use it?
A: The Amazon Basics smart light bulb only works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It is
not compatible with 5G.
1.
If it is broadcasting only 1 signal, you will need to go to the Wi-Fi
management and create a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal first, choose it and
enter the password.
2.
If it is broadcasting both signals, the 5G signal will be ignored.
You’ll just choose the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and enter the password of it.
Setup & Use with Alexa app
Q: Where can I find the barcode for Alexa setup?
A: You can find the barcode laser printed on light bulb socket, and also
printed on the back page of quick start guide.
The barcode on the packaging box is used for fulfillment purposes,
NOT for Alexa setup.

Q: How do I set up my Amazon Basics Smart Light bulb with Alexa app?
A: Before setup, please make sure you have the latest Alexa app
downloaded and are using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
1.
Screw in the smart LED light bulb and turn on the light. It will flash
twice softly, indicating bulb is ready for setup.

Open the Alexa app and tap the "More" icon on the bottom-right
side of the screen

Tap "Add a Device"

Open the Alexa app and tap "More" icon on the bottom-right of the
screen, Tap "Add a Device", and Select "Light" ->"Amazon Basics", and
choose your corresponding device. Then follow the on- screen
instructions. If prompted by the app, scan the barcode on the back
page of the quick start guide.

Select "Light" ->"Amazon Basics", and choose your corresponding
device. Then follow the on- screen instructions. If prompted by the
app, scan the barcode on the back page of the quick start guide. Do
NOT scan the barcode on the box that is for fulfillment purpose.
Note: To set up the light bulbs in the 4-pack, please set up one bulb at a
time.
Q: How do I rename my Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb?
A: Once you finish adding your light bulb into Alexa app, it will show as
“first light”. Recommend to rename your light bulb by function, purpose
or location so that makes it easier for you to find and control. You can
simply rename the light bulb by:

Open the Alexa app
2.
From the “Devices” tab, select the light bulb that you want to
rename
3.
Tap on the gear icon for “Settings” to proceed
4.
Tap on “Edit Name” to rename each outlet

Q: How do I use my Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb with Alexa?
A: You can control the light bulb by tapping “Devices” to find your device
and control within Alexa app. You can also use Alexa Voice Commands,
just say “Alexa, turn on the first light”.
Q: How do I create Alexa routines?
A: Follow these steps to create individual routines:
1.
Open the Alexa app
2.
Open “More” and select “Routines”
3.
Select “Plus”
4.
Select “When this happens” and follow the steps to choose what
starts your routine
5.
Select “Add action” and follow the steps to choose the action of
your routine; you can select multiple actions for the same routine
6.
Select “Save”
Q: How do I remove the Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb from the Alexa
app?
A: Follow these steps to remove the device from your Alexa app:
1.
Open the Alexa app
2.
Select “Devices”
3.
Select the light bulb you wish to remove and tap on the gear icon
for “Settings” to proceed
4.
Select “Trash” icon on the top right corner. Then you have
successfully removed the light bulb from your Alexa app
Q: How do I create Smart Home groups for Alexa?
A: Follow these steps to create groups in your Alexa app:
1.
Open the Alexa app
2.
Select “Devices”
3.
Select “+” and then “Add Group”
4.
Select either Create a room or device group or Combine rooms
or groups

Use the preset group names, or create your own, and then select Next.
6.
Select the devices or groups you want to include, and then select Save.

Troubleshooting
Q: How do I factory reset my Amazon Basics Smart Light Bulb?
A: You can do a factory reset by deleting your device from
the app.
If you are not able to delete your device from Alexa app,
alternatively: Use a light switch to quickly turn on and off
the light for 5 times. At the 6th turn on, it will flash 5 times
quickly, then flash twice softly, indicating you have
successfully factory-reset your light bulb, and it is ready for
setup again.
Q: Amazon Alexa app cannot find or connect to the smart LED light bulb.
A: To resolve most discovery issues, try these steps:
1.
Check that your phone/tablet and the Alexa app have the latest
software version
2.
Make sure that your phone/tablet and your smart LED light bulb
are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The bulb is not
compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi network
3.
Check that your phone/tablet is within 30' (10 m) of your smart
LED light bulb
4.
Restart your smart LED light bulb. To restart, power off the smart
LED light bulb and power it back on
5.
If you have restarted your smart LED light bulb and it is still not
working, reset your light bulb.

Q: What if I lose the quick start guide, how can I set up my smart light
bulb?
A: You can set up your device via two alternative setup methods:
1. Alternative method 1- Add the device with the barcode on the
light bulb.
2. Alternative method 2 - Add the device without a barcode

"Alternate setup methods".

Q: What should I do if I see error code (-1:-1:-1:-1) during my Alexa setup?
A: Make sure your phone has Bluetooth turned on throughout the entire
setup process and the device you are trying to setup is in pairing mode.
Restart your device by powering it off and on, and then set up again.
