Description
5235 IP Phones are supported by
• 3300IntegratedCommunicationsPlatform(ICP)Release6.0andlatersoftware.
The phone is powered over the LAN with a power source compliant to IEEE 802.3af.

Remote 5235 IP Phone
WIthTeleworkerRelease3.2andlater,youcanusethe5235remotelywheninMiNetmode.
For information about configuring 5235 IP Phones for remote mode, access the Remote
IP Phones Guide available at www.mitel.com (see Supporting Documentation).
NOTE: The remote 5235 IP Phone is DC adapter (48v)-powered.
SIP-supported 5235 IP Phones (Dual Mode)
You can also configure 5235 IP Phones to one of two SIP modes:
• SIP Mode - for general SIP operation
• Enhanced SIP mode - to take advantage of enhanced SIP features.

Using the Line Interface Module
The 5235 IP Phone supports the Mitel Line Interface Module. For Line
Interface Module installation information, refer to the Installation Guide
packaged with the LineInterface Module. For information on how to use the
Line Interface Module, refer to the 5235 IP Phone User Guide available at
www.mitel.com (see Supporting Documentation).

Installing a 5235 IP Phone (See Figure )
Itiseasiesttoconnectthecablestoyourphoneafteryouhaveattachedthemountingbase
unit to the phone.
nThreadtheLANcableplugthroughtheslotonthebackoftheinstalledbase
unit.
NOTE:
If you are wall-mounting your phone on a wall plate, do not thread the
LAN cable through the base unit slot--the cable connects directly from
the LAN port on the phone to the jack in the wall plate.
oPlugoneendoftheLANcableintotheLANportandtheotherendintothe
network jack or DC adapter. The LAN plug link LED turns orange.
NOTE:
Use qualified Mitel-supplied DC power adapters only.
pPlugthehandsetcordintothehandsetportandthreaditthroughoneofthe
slots on either side of the base unit.
qIfprompted,enter avalidPIN,andthenpress HOLD to register thephone.
r(Optional) Connect a network device to the PC port.
s(Optional) Plug the headset cord into the headset port.
Configuring a 5235 IP Phone to SIP Mode
IMPORTANT:YoumustupgradetoSIPRelease5.0.0.20beforeupgrading
to SIP Release 6.0. See the Firmware Release Notes for SIP Release 6.0
available at http://sipdnld.mitel.com/
To configure the phone to SIP mode using the default settings:
1.Pressandhold*and7simultaneouslywhilepoweringupthephone.Thedis-
play indicates “Mode Change to SIP”.
2. When the display indicates “Change Confirmed”, do one of the following:
• for standard SIP mode, wait for the phone to boot.
• for Enhanced SIP mode, immediately hold down the 3 and 6 keys
until the display indicates “SIP Lock”.
NOTE:
You must hold down the 3 and 6 keys during the time that the “Change Con-
firmed” display is active.
NOTE: Once you have entered SIP Enhanced mode, you can no longer toggle to MiNET
mode.
NOTE: The SIP default configuration uses the default network settings in
DHCP mode.
NOTE: To return the phone to MiNET mode (from standard SIP mode only)
using the default settings, press and hold * and 6 simultaneously while
powering up the phone.
After thephone boots, it is returned to MiNET mode .
SIP Network Configuration
NOTE:
Press * , 0 and # to select menu items indicated on the display. For
example, if options *=YES 0=DEFAULT #=NO appear and you want to
select YES, press * on the keypad.
To configure the phone to SIP by configuring the network settings:
1. Press both Up and Down Arrow keys simultaneously while powering up
the phone. NETWORK SETTINGS? appears.
2. PressNOuntilPHONEMODE?appears,andthenpressYES.PROTOCOL?
appears.
3. Press YES. PHONE MODE: MiNET appears.
4. Press CHANGE, and then press SIP. PHONE MODE: SIP appears.
5. Press ACCEPT. STORE CHANGES? appears.
6. PressYES.“SAVINGTONVRAM.DoNotRemovePower”appears,followed
by NVRAM SAVE COMPLETE and REBOOT NOW?.
NOTE:
Do not reboot the phone at this time.
7. Press NO. PROTOCOL? appears.
8. PressNO,andthenpressYEStoexitthemenu.PHONEMODE?appears.
9. Press NO until NETWORK SETTINGS? appears, and then press YES.
MODIFY SETTINGS? appears.
10. Press YES. NETWORK TYPE <current type> appears.
11. Press CHANGE, press the desired network type (i.e. LAN, xDSL, Cable),
and then press ACCEPT. STORE CHANGES? appears.
12. PressYES.“SAVINGTONVRAM.DoNotRemovePower”appears,followed
by NVRAM SAVE COMPLETE and REBOOT NOW?
13. PressYES.Whenthedateandtimeappear,therebootiscompleteandthe
phone is in SIP mode.
NOTE:
For xDSL, an Internet Service Provider user name and password are
required.
NOTE: For additional SIP information (e.g. firmware upgrades; restoring fac-
tory defaults), refer to the 5235 SIP User and Administrator Guide avail-
able at www.mitel.com (see Supporting Documentation).
Desktop-Mounting a 5235 IP Phone (See Figure )
For a high-angle mount, attach the mounting base unit to your phone before you have
connectedthecablestothe phone. Foralow-anglemount,you must connect thecables
before attaching the the mounting base unit to your phone.
nTurnthe phone so that the touch screen facesaway from you.
oHoldthebaseunit sothatthelongflatedgefacesthephoneandthelower
hooks bend toward the bottom edge of the phone.
pHingethehooksonthebaseunitintothenotchesonthebackofthephone
and snap into place as follows:
a) For a high-angle mount, hinge the two lower hooks into the bottom
set of notches and snap the two upper hooks into the middle set of
notches.

b) For a low-angle mount, hinge the two lower hooks into the middle
sets of notches and snap the two upper hooks into the top set of
notches.
Wall Mounting on a Wall Plate (NA only) (See Figure )
nTurnthebaseunitsothatthelongflatedgefacesthetopofthephone,and
the upper hooks bend toward the top edge of the phone. Hinge the two
upperhooksinto the top set of notchesandsnap the two lower hooks into
the middle set of notches on the back of the phone.
oSecurethebaseunitusingthetwosuppliedscrews (inseparatepackage).
pPlug the phone cord into the wall jack.
qPlacebaseunitonthewallplatepost;pushdownuntilunitisfirmlyseated.
rUsing your index finger, lift the clip (from the top) located below the
hookswitch,turntheclip180degrees,andthenletthe clip snapintoplace
toformahook.(Thehookkeepsthehandsetinthecradlewhenthephone
is wall mounted.)
Wall Mounting on the Wall
nSelectalocationawayfromelectricalcables,pipesorotheritemsthatcould
cause a hazard when inserting screws in the wall.
CAUTION:Ensurethewalliscapableofsupportingtheweightofthephone.For
additional security, it is recommended that you mount the phone on
a plywood backboard. Mitel is not responsible for phones damaged
as a result of improper wall mounting.
oInserttwomountingscrews31/4inches(8.25cm)apart.Allowabout3/16
of an inch (0.5 cm) between the wall and screw heads for mounting the
phone.Use#10screws1to1.5inches(2.5to4cm) inlengthformounting
screws and anchoring devices suitable for the wall.
pFollow the procedure for mounting the phone on the wall plate.

Instalação de um Telefone IP 5335 (ver figura A)
Fica mais fácil conectar os cabos ao seu telefone após prender a unidade de base de
montagem ao telefone.
nConectar o plugue do cabo LAN através da ranhura na parte traseira da
unidade de base instalada.
NOTA:
Casovocê esteja montandoseutelefone emumaplaca naparede,não plugue
do cabo LAN utilizando uma ranhura na unidade de base - o cabo se conecta
diretamente da porta LAN no telefone ao já que na placa na parede.
oPlugarumaextremidadedocaboLANnaportaLANeaoutraextremidade
no jaque de rede ou adaptador DC. O led de conexão do plugue LAN
acende na cor laranja.
NOTA:
Usar somente adaptadores de potência DC qualificados fornecidos pela Mitel.
pPlugarocordãodotelefonenaportadotelefoneeintroduziraparafusando
por uma das ranhuras em qualquer dos lados da unidade de base

Configurar um Telefone IP 5235 para o Modo SIP
Configuração Padrão SIP (ver Figura A).
Para configurar o telefone para o modo SIP utilizando os ajustes padrão:
1. Pressione e segure as teclas “*” e “7” simultaneamente ao acionar o tele-
fone. Quando data e hora aparecerem, o telefone estará no modo SIP.
NOTA:
A configuração SIP padrão utiliza os ajustes de rede padrão em modo DHCP.
NOTA: Para retornar o telefone ao modo MiNET utilizando os ajustes padrão,
pressione e segure as teclas “*” e “
6 ” simultaneamente ao acionar o telefone.
Quando data e hora aparecerem, o telefone estará no modo MiNET.
Configuração de Rede SIP
NOTA: Pressione as teclas “*”, “ 0 ” e “ # ” para selecionar os itens de menu indicados

Montagem de um Telefone IP 5235 em uma mesa de
trabalho (ver Figura B)
Paramontagememânguloalto,prendaaunidadedebasede montagemaoseutelefone
antes de conectar os cabos ao telefone. Para montagem em ângulo baixo, é necessário
conectar os cabos antes de prender a unidade de base de montagem ao telefone.
nGirar o telefone de modo que a tela de toque esteja oposta a você.
oSegurar a unidade de base de modo que a borda plana comprida esteja
voltadapara o telefoneequeos ganchosinferioresdobremnosentido da
borda do fundo do telefone.
pDobrar os ganchos na unidade de base para dentro dos chanfros na
traseira do telefone e prender a no lugar conforme a seguir:
a) para uma montagem em ângulo alto, dobrar osdois ganchos
inferiores no sentido do conjunto de chanfros no fundo e fechar os
dois ganchos superiores no sentido do conjunto do meio dos
chanfros.
b) para uma montagem em ângulo baixo, dobrar osdois ganchos
inferiores no sentido dos conjuntos de chanfros do meio e fecharos
dois ganchos superiores no sentido do conjunto de chanfros no
topo.
Montagem na Parede em uma Placa de Parede (somente
NA) (Ver Figura C)
nGiraraunidadedebasedemodoqueasbordasplanascompridasestejam
voltadasparaotopodotelefone,eoganchosuperiordobrarnosentidoda
bordadetopodotelefone.Dobrarosdoisganchossuperioresnosentidodo
conjunto superior de chanfros e fechar os dois ganchos inferiores a no
sentido do conjunto médio de chanfros na traseira do telefone.
oPrender a unidade de base utilizando os dois parafusos fornecidos (em
pacote separado).
pPlugar o cordão do telefone no já que da parede.
qColocaraunidadedebasenaguarniçãodaplacadaparede;empurrarpara
baixo até que a unidade esteja firmemente posicionada.
rComodedoindicador,levantarogrampo(dotopo)localizadoembaixodo
comutadordogancho,girarogrampoem180grausqueemseguidatravar
ogramponaposiçãoparaformarumgancho(oganchomantémofonena
posição quando o telefone é montado na parede).
Montagem do Telefone na Parede
nEscolha um local longe de cabos elétricos, canos ou outros itens que
possam oferecer perigo quando inserir os parafusos na parede.
ATENÇÃO: Certificar-sequeaparedepodeagüentaropesodotelefone.Para
segurançaadicional,recomenda-sequeotelefonesejamontadoemumapla-
ca de compensado. A Mitel não se responsabiliza por telefones avariados
como resultado de montagem inadequada na parede.
oColoqueosdoisparafusosdemontagemcomumaseparaçãode8,25cm
entre eles. Deixe cerca de 0,5 cm entre a parede e as cabeças dos
parafusos para prender o telefone. Utilize parafusos nº 10 com
aproximadamente 2,5 a 4 cm de comprimento para prender e ancorar
dispositivos adequados para a parede.
