MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS
1. The dock face on which the APS 2000 Vehicle
Restraint will be mounted must be at and vertical
to prevent binding of carriage assembly. If the dock
face is not at and vertical, it may be necessary to
use shims or physically modify the dock face. Consult
APS Resource for shimming requirements.
2. The anchors provided with the APS 2000 Vehicle
Restraint must only be used on docks constructed
of solid concrete, 4000 psi minimum strength,
6-1/2” minimum thickness. Docks constructed with
other materials, such as brick or block, require
special mounting consideration, which may include
brackets and a solid concrete approach. Consult
APS Resource if the dock does not meet concrete
requirements.
3. Do not install the APS 2000 Vehicle Restraint anchor
bolts into aged or unsound concrete.
4. If the driveway beneath the Vehicle Restraint is
affected by frost, additional clearance may be
required between the Vehicle Restraint and the
driveway to prevent damage.
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Welder
- Impact or rotary drill with 5/8" diameter concrete drill bit
- 3/4" wrench
- General hand tools
- Touch up paint (Gold)

Before installation read and follow the Safety
Practices. Failure to follow these safety practices
could result in death or serious injury.
READ AND FOLLOW THE OPERATION
INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL BEFORE
OPERATING THE APS 2000®VEHICLE RESTRAINT.
If you do not understand the instructions, ask your
supervisor to teach you how to use the Vehicle
Restraint.
Improper installation of the APS 2000®Vehicle
Restraint could result in death or serious injury to
dock workers or other users of the Vehicle Restraint.
Place barricades around pit on dock oor and
driveway while installing, maintaining or repairing the
vehicle restraining device.
Be certain bystanders in the driveway stand clear
when the Vehicle Restraint is operated.
Be certain to follow the installation instructions in
this manual.
Do not install the Vehicle Restraint anchor bolts into
aged or unsound concrete.
5. Vehicle Restraints require a minimum 4" bumper
projection from the front of the bumper to the rear
of the roller track plate of the restraint (the mounting
surface). Less than 4" of projection can allow the
vehicle RIG to damage the restraint.
6. Bumper projection in excess of 4", from the front of
the bumper to the mounting surface, may reduce
the horizontal hooking range of the Vehicle Restraint
depending on driveway and dock conguration.
Use shims to optimize the horizontal hooking range
as needed. Consult APS Resource for shimming
requirements.
7. For bumper projections of 5-1/2" and greater, APS
recommends the use of a mounting bracket. Consult
APS Resource for bracket requirements.
8. A standard installation of the APS 2000 Vehicle
Restraint requires a 26" minimum dock face height
for mounting. If the dock face height is less than 26",
a pit oor mounting plate or mounting bracket may
be required. Consult APS Resource if the dock face
height is less than 26".
9. For installation of Vehicle Restraints with EOD
type docklevelers or any other special site-
specic mounting considerations not covered in
this manual, consult APS Resource at 262-518-
1000.
