which it has been intended and should be
installed using the instructions which are
provided. Arena Luci cannot be held liable for

This instruction manual contains important
information about the installation and use of the
projector. Please read and follow these
instructionscarefully.
The security of this device is guaranteed only
with the proper use of the following instructions,
thereforetheymustbekeptcarefully.
Never install the device in locations easily
accessiblebypeoplewhoignoretheexistenceof
thisuser'smanualandsafetyinstructions.
Disconnecttheunitfromanypowersupplybefore
attempting any operation in contact or inside the
unit,andwhennotinuse.
It is essential that each device is correctly
earthedandthatelectricalinstallationconformsto
all relevant standards. Never supply the unit
withouttheearthlink.
Prior to connect the unit to the mains supply,
check the output voltage fits the technical
requirementsonthelabel.
Never let the power cord come into contact with
othercables.
Nevertouchtheelectricalcontacts,eitherdirectly
withyour fingers,orindirectly bymeansofsharp
ormetalobjects.
Makesurethatcablescannotcausetriphazard.
Donotattempttodismantleandmodifytheunit.
Due to the high technological level of this unit,
anyservicemaintenanceshouldbeperformedby
specialisedoperators.PleasecontactyourArena
Lucidealerforanyoperation.
Alwaysensurethatthestructuretowhichyouare
attachingtheunitissecureandisabletosupport
theweightofeachunit.
Do not allow contact with water or any other
fluids,ormetallicobjects(IP20).
Do not install the projector in areas of high
humidity. The unit is intended only for indoor
purposes.
Avoidinstallingtheunitclosetoheatsources.
Neverleanthepowercordonhotunitsurfaces.
Not allowed to be mounted directly on
inflammablesurfaces.
Installtheunitwhereitcanbeeasilyaerated.
Avoidobstructionofin/outvents.
Maximumambienttemperature35°C.
If the unit is installed in a rack, then the
temperatureinsidetherackmustbebelow45°C.
RelativeHumiditybetween40%and80%.
Do not use any solvent based cleaning agents.
Useonlyasoft,dryantistaticcloth.
The installation should be performed only by a
qualifiedoperator.
Avoid contact with either corrosive agents or
humidity and moisture on delicate elements:
damages from corrosion are not refunded as
componentdefects.

BEFORESTARTING
Remove the product from the shipping carton,
checking that all the components supplied are
presentinthe box. Refer to the following packing
list to check which components must be present
in the packaging. If any component is missing or
damaged, contact your Arena Luci dealer
immediately.

Before starting the installation of your product
make sure that there are no evident damages
causedbytransportation.Intheeventthattheunit
isdamaged,donotplugitinanddonotattemptto
use it until you contacted yourArena Luci dealer
forassistance.
INTRODUCTION
This unit is intended to dim the following type of
fixtures: incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, low
voltagehalogenlampswithballast.
To ensure the normal total working hours of this
dimmer pack, please observe the following
suggestions.
If dimmer pack is installed in a rack, make sure
the rack has adequate ventilation. Otherwise the
unit will become overheat and will result in a
malfunction.
The maximum output current of each channel is
10A: this is a testing condition and must be held
for30minutesmaximum.
If the output current of each channel is less than
8A, the unit can work for several hours in
Theaters,StagesandStudios.
If the output current of each channel is less than
8A,theunitcanwork24/7withoutswitchingoffin
Hotels,Restaurants,Buildings.
This dimmer pack provides 6 dimming channels.
Each output channel has a 10A magnetic circuit
breaker.
Theunitisequippedwithathermalcontrolledfan.
When the temperature is over 45°C, the fan will
startautomatically.
Theautotrackingoffrequencyandphaseenables
stabledimmingoutputindifferentfrequencies.
The unit provides a testing function to perform
testswithoutconnectingtoaconsole.
Preheat function to protect the loads (Warmup
settingisfrom0%to6%).

INSTALLINGTHEUNIT
Theunitmustbefixedonasuitablesupportwhich
remains stable during operation. Always make
suretherackorstructuretowhichyouaresetting
theunitissecureandisabletobeartheweightof
7kgofeachunit.
Disconnectthemainsvoltagefromthesystem.
Inthefollowingconnectiondiagrams youcanfind
how to connect to the mains voltage for both
ThreePhaseSystemandSinglePhaseSystem.
Respect the LNE polarity indicated on the
terminals(colorbrown=L1orL,black=L2,grey
=L3,blue=N,yellow/green=E).
It is essential that each unit is correctly earthed
and that electrical installation conforms to all the
standardsofgoodpracticeandsafetyregulations.
It is recommended that the unit is connected to
themainsviaapropercircuitbreaker.
Use the on/off switch to turn on and off the
dimmerpack.

CONNECTINGCONTROLSIGNALS
The dimmer pack, in order to be remotely
controlled, requires a digital signal DMX 512
(1990). The connection between controller and
dimmer pack and between dimmer pack and
dimmer pack must be made with twocore
shielded cable with a section of at least 0.5mm2
and connectors model Canon XLR. The unit also
provides RJ11 connectors for DMX signal. In
carrying out the wiring of the connectors it is
important that the signal wires do not make
contact with each other and do not touch the
casingoftheplug.Thecasingoftheplugmustnot
be in contact with other objects possible sources
of disturbance. The three terminals have the
numbering referred to the poles of the XLR
connectors normally used for the connection of
theDMX:pin1=GNDorbraidedscreen,pin2=
DATA or cold pole, pin 3 = DATA + or hot pole.

Pin 4 and pin 5 are not connected. For RJ11
plugs:pin1=+12V,pin2=DATA+,pin3=DATA
,pin4=GND.
Connect the signal coming from the controller to
the DMX socket of the unit labeled DMX IN.
Continue connecting the DMX OUT socket to the
DMXINsocketofthenextunit.
TerminationoftheDMXsignal
For installations where the cable signal must
travellongdistancesorwhere there are electrical
noises, for example a discotheque, it is
recommendedtouseaDMXterminator.TheDMX
terminator is simply an XLR connector with a
resistance of 120Ω (Ohm) between pins DATA
and DATA+. The connector is then plugged into
the DMX OUT socket on the last device in the
chain.
Analoginput
The dimmer pack can also be controlled via an
analog 010V dc control signal. The input socket
for this analog signal is located in the front panel
oftheunitandusesaDB9femaleconnector.
Thesix control valuesare connected topins 1 to
6throughaDB9maleflyingconnector.
PROJECTORADDRESSES
The unit, to be remotely controlled, requires 6
DMXchannels.Eachdimmerpackmustbegiven
adigital start addressnumber so thatthe correct
unit responds to the correct control signals. This
digital start address is the channel number from
whichtheunitstartsto“listen”tothedigitalcontrol
informationbeingsentoutfromthecontroller.This
digitalencodingmustbedoneoneachunit.
The start address of the coding is assigned by
setting the desired value using the display
interfaceonthefrontpanel.
Press and hold the DMX button on the keypad,
thenusethe▲or▼buttonstoselectthedesired
starting address (ie. dimmer 1 address 1 D.001,
dimmer2address7D.007,dimmer3address13
D.013,etc.); for fast forward pressandhold the
button.
OPERATION
After supplying the device, the software performs
areset;attheendoftheelectronicsresetroutine,
thedisplayshowstheidlestate.
In the idle state the following informations are
shown:

d001isthebaseaddressofthedimmerpack.
. (blinking dot) indicates the presence of a valid
DMXsignal.
In the absence of DMX signal (XLR connector
unplugged),theblinkingdotisoff.
Set the base address of the unit as seen before
and connect the signal from DMX controller to
control the intensity of various lighting fixtures
connected.

PressDMXbuttonintoDMXstatus.
PressandholdtheFNCbuttonfor3seconds.
The default setting for all channels (AL) is
dimmingmode(=d).
PressFNCbuttontoselectchannel.
Press ▲ or ▼ to select dimming mode (=d) or
switchmode(=S).
WarmUpSetting(0–6%)
Press FNC button. The default setting for all
channels(A)isnopreheat(00).
PressFNCbutton to select the channel, ieselect
channel1
Press ▲ or ▼ to adjust. The warmup level can
beadjustedfrom1%to6%.
ChannelOutputStatusPreview
EntertoDMXstatusandpressDMXbutton.
Press▲or▼topreview.
ManualDimming
Move the sliders VR1VR6 to dim the intensity of
thecorrespondingoutputchannel.
When a DMX signal input from a console is also
present, the corresponding output channel will
take the higher value between DMX signal and
slidervalue.
WhenthedimmerpackisreceivingaDMXframe,
if the signal is lost (or the cable is disconnected)
theoutputswilltakethevaluesetbythesliders.
Also, if the projector is turned on and it is not
connectedtoavalidDMXsignal,thelightintensity
isbroughttothelevelssetbythesliders.
Display the Dimming Value of DMX Channel
andInternalTemperature
Press L button to display the dimming value of
DMXchannel.
PressTbuttontodisplaytheinternaltemperature.
DMX512Status&DMX512Address
PressDMXbuttontoDMXstatus.
The LED will return to DMX status after 10
minutesidle.
ProtocolControl
When the protocol control turns on, it only
receives the DMX signal whose break width
rangesfrom88μsto230μs.
Press FNC button to enable or disable the
protocolcontrol.
Press ▲ and LED displays as below, protocol
controlisON.
Press ▼ and LED displays as below, protocol
controlisOFF.

Theunitisguaranteedfor24monthsfromthedate
of purchase against defects in workmanship or
materialsthatcomposeit.
This warranty does faults due to incorrect or
improperuseofthedevice.
The warranty is immediately void if the unit has
been tampered with or opened by unauthorized
personnel.
The warranty provides, at the discretion of Arena
Luci,repairorreplacementoffaultyequipment.
The serial number and model of the device are
requiredtoobtaininformationorassistancefromthe
