Introduction
Thankyou forpurchasing the Arrowhead LCD (liquidcrystaldisplay)
keypad.
The LCDkeypad usestwolinesof16characterstodisplay fullalphanumerictext.
Thiskeypadhasbeen designedtokeep thedaytoday operation assimpleaspossibleso
thatall userswillfeelcomfortableusingthealarmsystem. Tosimplifynormal dailyoperations
wehave provided manyclearlyidentified keypad buttonsthat arededicated tosingletasks.
The LCDkeypad isalsoaverypowerful diagnostictool allowingeasyaccess tothealarm
systems’eventmemory.Theeventmemorystoresmultiplealarmactivityevents.All ofthe
eventsarelogged withthetimeanddatethey occurred and displayedviatheLCD keypad.
The LCDkeypad can becustomized tosuittheparticularneedsoftheenduser andthis
manualdetailshow thesechangescanbemade.
The followingpagesexplain how tousethemanyspecial featuresof thiskeypad aswellas
howtoprogramthecustomizablefeatures.

SettingtheKeypadAddress&PanelType
EachKeypad Must have adifferentaddress settingbeforeapplying power.Ifthereisonly
onekeypadused on thesystemthen thedefault settingof keypad #1isOK. Theswitches
areonlyread on power-upsotheymustbesetbeforeapplyingpower. Switches1-3deter-
minethekeypad address. Switches4-7areused tosetthekeypadfor thetypeof alarm
panel it will used on (see tablebelow fordetails). Switch#8isun-used.
NOTE: TherearetwoPW64 settings,thefirstworkswithsoftwareversionsV1.01 panelsand
thesecondwithV1.04andabove.

*Changing theKeypad Panel Name*
Whenyou enterin [PROG]-[999]-[ENTER] thedisplay willlookliketheexampleabove (the
actual namewill depend on thesettingsofswitches4-7asper thechart on page4).Youmay
enteranynameyou wish upto16 charactersin length(usingthesamemethod asdescribed
on thepreviouspagesforzonenames). Thisnameisdisplayed atthekeypad inIdlemode.
Whenyou arehappywiththechangesPress “ENTER” tosave.
*Changing theKeypad Area Character*
Whenyou enterin [PROG]-[998]-[ENTER] thedisplay willlookliketheexampleabove. You
may edit thesinglecharacterArea Namesat thisaddress startingatArea “A” (firstleft-hand
position). Thekeypad allowsfor upto16partitionsorareasbut theactualnumberof areas
supported willbedependantupon thepanel typeset. Thefirst character (in thiscasethe”A”)
istheidentifierusedtoshow thestatusofthefirst Partition. Thesecond position (inthiscase
the“B”) istheidentifierused toshow thestatusofthesecondpartition.
Ifyoupreferred tohavethefirstpartition shown asArea “1”andnot “A” then youcanchange
it hereusingthesamemethod asusedpreviously. Withthecursorunderneaththeletter“A”,
Press the“1”button four timesuntilthecharacter inthefirst slot shows“1”.
Whenyou arehappywiththechangesPress the“ENTER” button tosave thechanges.
*Resetting theTextto DefaultorLastSaved Setting*
While in “LocalEdit Mode”therearetwospecialfunctionsthat can beperformed atanyof
theaddresses1-64, 998& 999.Theyare “Return to Default Text” or “Returnto Previ-
ouslySavedText”.
For Example,to Returnthe Zone1textback toDefaults;
IfduringtheprogrammingofZone1text[PROG]-[1]-[ENTER] you wishedtoreturnback to
thedefault text, simplyPress “Control” followed within 2secondsby “2” andthetext will
returntothedefault settings.
Ifyou wishedtoreturntothelast saved version ofthetext simplyPress“Control” followed
within 2secondsby “1” andthelastsavedtextforzoneonewillappear.
NOTE: Ifthelastsaved version oftextforZone1 wasin factthedefault setting, then press-
ing“Control”then“1” will returnthedefaulttextanyway.

Onceyouhave selectedthedesired fontsizeyoucan now proceed tochangethetextfor
Zone1.
The followingtableshowstheEnglishCharactersthat can beselectedbyeach numericbut-
ton.
The lowercaseoptionsareshownin( ).
Therearefourdifferent selectionsper button. Bypressing thebutton once,acharacter will
appear inthedisplay (see “1stpress”columnbelow). Pressingthesamebutton againwill
causethedisplay tochangetothenext characterinthesequence(see “2ndpress” column).
After youhavepressed thesamebutton four timesthenextpress (5th)will causethedisplay
towrapbacktothebeginning.
Onceyouhave selectedthefirst character,Press the“PANIC” (rightarrow)buttontomove
thecursoroneposition totheright.
Nowselect thesecondcharacter andmove thecursortotherightrepeatingtheprocess until
all ofthetextiscompleted(Rememberthatthereareamaximumof 16 charactersperpro-
gram address).
Ifyou makeamistakeusethe“ARM”(leftarrow) button tomove thecursor towardstheleft
andmakeanycorrections.
Whenyou arehappywiththetextPress “ENTER” tosave thechanges. You can programthe
text forallzonesinthesameway.

KeypadButton Descriptions

Thisbutton isused toArmthefullalarm.It can alsoincreasetheLCD back
lightinginconjunction withthe“Control” button or, scrollthetexttotheleft in
Memorydisplay orProgrammodes.
Thisbutton isused doapartial “Stay Mode”arming.It isalsoused during
ProgrammodetoStepBack(currentaddress -1)tothenextprogramaddress or
reducethekeypad backlightinginconjunction withthe“Control”button.
Thisbutton isused tomanuallybypass zones. Itisalsoused toenter“Local Edit
Mode”inconjunction withthe“Control”button or, can beusedtoaccess
additional subtextdisplaysinconjunction withthe“Control”button (whilein pro
gram mode) .
Thisbutton isused tostart the“EventMemory”display mode. Itisalsoused
duringprogram modetoStepUp(current address +1) tothenextprogram
address orincreasethekeypad backlighting inconjunction withthe“Control”
button.
Thisbutton isused toaccess either ofthetwoprogrammingmodesin
conjunction withavalidcodeandprecedesall programaddress codes whilein
program mode.
Thisbutton isused toaccepttheentryof astringof digitsat thekeypad.When
the“Enter”buttonispressedit alsoclearsallofthepreviousdataentered leaving
it readyforthenextseriesofkeypad entries.
Whenthe“Panic” buttonispressed amanual“PanicAlarm”willbegenerated
(ifprogrammed todoso). Theoperation can beinstantor requirethebutton tobe
heldfor2secondstogeneratethealarm. Itcan alsodecreasetheLCD back
lightinginconjunction withthe“Control” button.
Bypressing andholdingthe“Control”button for2seconds, dependingupon the
panel andtheoptionsselected byyour installer, youcan togglethe“Chime
Mode” ordirectlycontrolthestateof variousoutputson thepanel. Pleaseconsult
your installer regardingtheoptionsavailable.It isalsousedtoaccessmanysub
program modesasdetailedabove.
Bypressing the“1”and“3” buttonssimultaneouslyyoucan createan
immediatePanicalarmprovided thepanelhasbeenprogrammed to
allow this.
Bypressing the“4”and“6” buttonssimultaneouslyyoucan createan
immediateFirealarmprovided thepanelhasbeen programmed to
allow this.
Bypressing the“7”and“9” buttonssimultaneouslyyoucan createan
immediateMedical alarmprovidedthepanel hasbeen programmed
toallowthis.

LocalKeypadFunctions
*Adjusting theKeypad Backlighting*
The user canindependentlyadjustthebacklight level oftheLCD display andthekeypad
buttons(LED)within arangeof16stepsfrom fullyoff tofullyon.
To increasetheLCD backlight levelPress “CONTROL” followed within2secondsby
“ARM”. Byholdingdownthe“Control”button andrepeatedlypressing the“ARM(Left Arrow)”
button youcan increasetheLCDbacklightleveltothemaximum.
To reducetheLCD backlight levelPress “CONTROL” followed within 2secondsby
“PANIC”.Byholding downthe“Control” button andrepeatedlypressing the“PANIC (Right
Arrow)” button you can decreasetheLCD backlight leveldowntofullyoff ifdesired.
To increasetheKeypadLEDbacklight levelPress “CONTROL”followed within 2seconds
byMEMORY”. Byholdingdownthe“CONTROL” button andrepeatedlypressingthe
“MEMORY(UpArrow)” button youcanincreasetheKeypadLED backlight leveltothemaxi-
mum.
To reducetheKeypadLED backlight levelPress “CONTROL”followed within2seconds
by“STAY”. Byholdingdownthe“CONTROL”button andrepeatedlypressingthe“STAY
(DownArrow)” button youcan decreasetheKeypad LED backlight leveldowntofullyoff if
desired.
*Adjusting theKeypad Buzzer Tone*
The user can adjust thefrequency(tone)of thekeypadbuzzerwithin arangeof 16steps. By
adjustingthefrequencythevolumeofthetoneproduced at thebuzzervariesaswell.
To increasethefrequencyof thebuzzer Press “CONTROL” followed within2secondsby
“1”. Byholdingdownthe“CONTROL”button andrepeatedlypressing the“1” button youcan
increasethefrequencyof thebuzzertonetothemaximum.
To decreasethefrequencyof thebuzzer Press “CONTROL”followed within2secondsby
“2”. Byholdingdownthe“CONTROL”button andrepeatedlypressing the“2” button youcan
decreasethefrequencyofthebuzzertonetotheminimum.
*Accessing Memory Display Mode*
The user candisplay thestored eventsattheLCD keypad. Eachevent isdisplayed withthe
timeanddatethat theeventoccurred.
Tostart thedisplayofthememoryeventsPress the“MEMORY” button.Thekeypad willbe-
gindisplayingthenewesttotheoldesteventsinthatorder. Theeventswill automatically
scrolltothenext event every2.5seconds.Ifthetext for theevent istoo largefor thedisplay
youcan press the“PANIC(RightArrow)” button toscrollthedisplay totherightandthe
“ARM(LeftArrow)” button will allowyou toscrollthedisplay back totheleft. UsingtheRight
or Left buttonstemporarilyhaltsthememoryfrom advancing tothenext event.
Pressing“ENTER” atanytimeterminatesmemorydisplay modeand returnsthekeypad
back tothenormal state.

LocalEditProgram Mode
The LocalEditProgram Modeallowstheprogrammingof acustomized “SystemName” (the
namedisplayedduringidlemodeatthekeypad), Customized “ZoneNames” (thetextthat
appearson thekeypad when azoneisunsealed)andrenaming ofthePartitionse.g. thede-
fault Partitionnamesare“A” forthefirst partition and“B” forthesecond partition but youcan
renamethem“1” and “2”if you wish.
*Accessing LocalEditMode*
ToenterLocal Edit ProgramModePressfollowedby andholdfor2
seconds.
NOTE: Youmustpress the“Control”button firstandthe“Bypass”buttonmustbepressed
within 2secondsofpressingtheControl button.If you makeamistakepress the“Enter” but-
tonthenrepeattheprocess.
The display will now show “LocalModekb#” wherethe#equalsthekeypad address asset
byDIP switches1-3 on thekeypad PCB (refer toinformation onpage 4).
*LocalEditModeProgram Addresses*
Thereareanumberofprogram addressesavailabletoyou at thispointdependingupon the
panel typesetbyswitches4,5,6& 7. They are;

Whenyou haveentered “Local Edit ProgramMode” and you haveentered oneofthepro-
gram addressesabove,e.g. {PROG}-[1]-[ENTER], thedisplay willlooklikethis;
The Cursorwill beunderneaththefirstlettertobeedited (inthiscasethe“Z”).
The letters <A..Z> indicatethat thelettersselectedbythenumericbuttons(0-9)willbein
capitals.
Bypressing the“MEMORY”button once,thedisplaywill changeto <a..z> indicating thatthe
lettersselected bythenumericbuttons(0-9)willbelower caseletters. You can cyclebackto
capitalsbypressingthe“STAY”button.
