T2-C Service Guide 9
Confidential, Not for Redistribution
As supplied, the T2-C press iswell protected against electro-static discharge (ESD). However,
precautions must be taken to minimize the potential for ESD when working around harness
interconnects and exposed interface connectors.
• Use static-free workstations for procedures when protective covers are removed.
• Wear grounded wrist straps when touching any exposed circuit assemblies.
• Transport electronic subassemblies in sealed static-shielding packaging (metalized
Mylar).
Warning: Always power down the machine before any cable connections to the machine or
harness interconnects are connected or disconnected. The T2-C press runs off a 48-volt DC
supply unit. Although this is considered low voltage, sufficient current to cause serious injury is
present.
Required Tools and Supplies
Gather all required tools and supplies before beginningany task. The tools list at the beginning
of each task specifies the tools and supplies needed. Some supplies will need to be purchased,
while others are common tools or are consumables available at each site.
Caution: The Memjet printhead has very small nozzles and has failure modes associated with
both contamination and scratching. Therefore, it is very important that clean, particulate-free
products be used to clean the printhead and the rest of the unit.
• Lint-free cloth wipes
It is critical that the wipes used be soft to avoid scratching the printhead, and lint-free to
avoid contaminating the printhead. These cautions must be communicated with
end-users as well. Readily available acceptable wipes include: Berkshire Choice 700,
800or900cleanroomwipes,TexwipeTechniClothTX600series,TexwipeTX300series,
or equivalent wipes.
• De-ionized (DI)/Distilled water (electronics grade)
Normaldistilledordeionizedwateris usually acceptable. However, if thewateriscontam-
inated by particulates from its container or handling, problems with contamination can
occur and may require additional wiping and cleaning to correct.
Caution: Use only de-ionized/distilled water for cleaning the unit. Take care to avoid
contaminating the printhead with cleaners, lubricants, or other chemicals.
