SkypeTM is a simple utility that enables you to make free calls anywhere in the world. If
you are tired of paying your outrageous phone bill, SkypeTM is denitely for you!
Install the SkypeTM utility to your PC from the bundled support CD. Create an account.reate an account.
and sign yourself in, and within minutes you can call your friends withcall your friends with ASUS AiGuru
U1 USB Phone for Skype. SkypeTM calls have excellent sound quality and are highly
secure with end-to-end encryption.

ASUS AiGuru U1 USB Phone for Skype gives you all the functionality of a regular
phone, through SkypeTM. With the Skype application running on your PC, your SkypeWith the Skype application running on your PC, your Skype
contact list is displayed on the U1 screen. Choose who you want to talk to from thethe U1 screen. Choose who you want to talk to from the
list, press a button, and get ready to talk. U1 supports SkypeOutU1 supports SkypeOutTM dialing. It rings
when you have a SkypeTM call coming in, and shows the caller’s ID on the screen. You
can also listen to your voicemail on the phone.

1. Receiver.
2. LCD screen.
3. Left soft key. Press to perform the function currently displayed on the bottom
left corner of the screen.
4. Call key. Press to dial or answer calls. Press to show the number you last dial.
5. Navigation/Volume keys. Press to scroll up/down through the menu items or
press to increase/decrease the volume.
6. Numeric keypad. Press to enter numbers. Double-press or hold the “0” key to
enter “+.”
7. Microphone.
8. End key. Press to stop an incoming call or cancel a call you are dialing. Press
to return to the standby mode.
9. Right soft key. Press to perform the function currently displayed on the bottom
right corner of the screen.
10. Buzzer.

Installing the utility and
connecting the phone
This chapter describes how to install Skype™ and the U1 drivers/utilities and how to connect
the phone to your PC.

2.1 Installing the AiGuru U1 utility
Consult your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for detailed information
about network setup.
Running the support CD
Place the AiGuru U1 support CD to the
optical drive. The main screen displays
automatically.
If the main screen does
not show, click Browse
Support CD and then
double-click Setup.exe to
run the CD.
Before using your AiGuru U1 USB phone for Skype, install Skype™ as well as the
AiGuru U1 drivers/utilities from the support CD. These programs allow you to optimize
your phone features.
Requirements for installing the AiGuru U1 utility
1. 32-bit Windows®XP / 32-bit Windows®Vista™ Home Basic / Home Premium /
Business / Ultimate
2. At least 1 GHz processor
3. At least 256 MB RAM
4. At least 40 MB free hard disk drive space
5. Internet connection: Dial-up, broadband, or cable modem (at least 33.6 Kbps)
6. Microsoft®DirectX 9.0c
7. AiGuru U1 support CD
For Eee PC Windows®XP Edition users, go directly to 2.3 Connecting
U1 to your Eee PC Windows®XP Edition.

2. The Skype™-Install screen
appears. Select your language
from the drop-down list. Read the
License Agreement and then check
the box.
3. Click Install to begin installation.
We recommand that you
install Skype™ from the
support CD.
Installing Skype™
1. From the main screen, click Install
Skype(TM) Software.
4. When installation is completed,
click Start Skype to launch the
Skype™ program on your PC.
If you do not have a Skype
account, you may create
one. If you already have an
account, sign yourself in.

Installing AiGuru U1 utility
1. From the main screen, click Install
AiGuru U1 Utility.
2. The InstallShield Wizard will guide
you through the installation. Click
Next.
3. Click Next or click Change to
assign a folder location and then
click Next.
4. If you want to create a shortcut
on the desktop, check the box
and click Next.

5. Click Install to begin installation. 6. Connect U1 to your computer
and select a playback device you
frequently use.
If you use Windows®Vista™, follow step 6 to 9. If not, go to step 10.
7. The audio conguration window
appears. A green check marks the
currently used playback device.
8. To change a playback device,
select the device and click Set
Default.

11. The AiGuru U1 Utility icon will
appear on your desktop.
The U1 icon with a cross will
also appear on the notication
area to indicate that U1 is not yet
connected to your PC.
12. A warning message appears. Select
Allow this program to use Skype
and then click OK.
10. When installation is completed,
click Finish.
9. The selected device is marked by
a green check. Click OK.
Under Windows®Vista™, the U1 is
already connected to your PC and
its icon shows the following.
