1 General infor ation
The Control Unit Module MOD CNV PK420 enables e tension of an e isting Gas Safety System and is
meant to convert an On/Off signals received from relay outputs of the Control Unit into a discrete signal
4..20 mA, whereas an active signal with the highest priority is transferred to the output of the module (See
Table 2).
The unit produces a discrete output signal as an electric current within the range from 4 to 20 mA that
enables wiring a Control Unit Module with a relay output to a Control System or a Control Unit that has an
analog input 4..20 mA. Such a solution enables:
monitoring of a transmission line, where failures (shorts, line breaks) are distinguished from
regular operation and an emergency alarm (see Figure 4),
transmission of an input signal for further processing by a Central Control Unit (e.g. EcoAlpa, Alpa
P17, MOD LED8, etc.).
For normal operation of the unit the PK FAILURE output of a control device wired to the MOD CNV PK420
module must be inverted to match the logic levels adopted for the solution (see Table 2 and Figures 1 and
4) when relevant inputs of the signal converter are closed, the module produces an output signal with the
appropriate current amperage:

4 Life cycle
4.1 Transportation
The device should be transported in the same way as new devices of this type. If the original bo or another
protection (e.g. corks) is not available, it is necessary to secure the device against shocks, vibrations and
moisture on one's own, using other equivalent methods.
4.2 Installation
The Control Unit Module MOD CNV PK420 is designed for installation inside control cabinets on the DIN35
rail or inside a terminal bo according to the installation position as shown in Figure 2, The installation
place should be accessible only for authorized personnel and, as far as possible, access of third-party
persons must be prevented. Reasonable elevation of the installation place is recommended so that to
make the device easily accessible for maintenance and repair. Locations with e cessive moisture should be
avoided.
All wiring should be made with the use of YTKSY, OMY, LiYY or similar cables with sufficient cross-section of
cores see Table 5. Ma imum runs for the cable sections to wire the PK420 converter to a Control Unit, with
consideration of cable core cross-section, a listed in Table 4.

4.3 Co issioning
Upon completion of all wiring make sure that the device is in sound operating condition by tripping the
appropriate inputs: Warning, Alarm and Failure (See Table 2 for positions of input contacts).

4.4 Diagnostics

4.5 Scheduled aintenance
Scheduled maintenance with the actuator (see Table 5).
4.5.1 Maintenance
E cept cleaning the e ternal part of the enclosure, the device does not require any maintenance. The
e ternal part of the enclosure should be cleaned by means of a soft cloth moistened with water.
4.6 Utilization
This symbol on a product or on its packaging indicates that the product
must not be disposed of with other household waste. Instead, it is the
user's responsibility to ensure disposal of waste equipment by handing it
over to a designated collection point for the recycling of waste electrical
and electronic equipment. The proper recycling of your waste equipment
at the time of disposal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure
that it is recycled in a manner that protects human health and the
environment. Information about relevant designated collection points can
be obtained from the Local Authority, waste disposal companies and in the
place of purchase. The equipment can also be returned to the
manufacturer.
