With the external power supplyEPX you have thepossibility toprovide
all connected unitsa more sophisticated foundation.
Pleasereadthismanual before firstuseto make sure that you are able to
useall provided functionsof your new unit. In caseof occurring ques-
tions, pleasedo not hesitate to contact your local Audionet dealeror our
factory directly.

4 Installation and connection
Important
•For connecting the EPXto or removing from the mother unit, the
EPX andthe mother unitmust be switched offtoprevent damage
from both devices.
•Pleasemakesure that all cablesare in absolute bestconditions!
Broken shieldsor shorted cablescould damage bothdevices.
4.1Placement
Important
•Place the EPX rightbeside orat least20cm above/below of the
mother unit.
•It isrecommended to place theEPX into ahigh quality rack or ontoa
stable table.
•Do not expose the unitto direct sunlight.
•Do not cover the ventilation slots.
•Do not place the EPX in closerange to heat sourceslikeradiators.Do
not place the EPX ontop of other units, especially not on topof
power amplifiers, pre amplifiersor similar that produce heat. Both
unitscould suffer damage from thermal overload.
•Do not usethe unit in placeswhere it isexposed to vibrations.
•Do not place theunitcloseto loudspeakersor into the corner of a
room where it isexposed to highlevelsof sonic energy, which might
reduce the sound quality of the unit.
4.2Mains connection
The mainsinput 2 *1ison the backpanel of the EPX. Toconnect the unit
tothemains usetheincludedmains cord respectively themains
cord of your motherunit (seesection 'Connectingthemotherunit'
on page7).
If you prefer to useadifferent power cord make sure that it meetsthe
specificationsfor your home country.
1see numbers in section 'Overview back panel' on page 5.

7
Important
•The electrical specificationsof your home country mustmeet the
electrical specificationsprinted onto the back panel.
•The EPX isaClassIunit and mustbe earthed. Please ensureastable
earth connection. The Phase('hot'pin)ismarked 'PHASE'onthe
back panel for the mainsinput.
•Never pull the mainsplug while the EPX isswitched on! Before you
pull the mainscord off the socket, power down the unit to stand-by
mode.
Only in casesof extended absence–like vacations–or if massive trouble
on the mainspower isto be expected you should switch off the EPXfrom
the mainsusing the mainsswitch.Todisconnect theunit completelyfrom
mainspull the mainsplug.
4.3Connecting the mother unit
For the connection of the mother unit an EPX-cord with 5-pin or7-pin
connector isneeded. An overview can be found in the following table.

Important
•Do not connect motherdevicesequipped with 7-pin connectors(ex-
cept MAP,MAP V2, MAP I) to mains!Thiswould compromisethe
quality of audio performance. Inthiscase(seetable above) only use
one mainscord to connect theEPX to mains, andnomainscordis
needed for the mother device.

5 Usage
5.1Powering up
Firstof all, pleasemake sureyour EPX isconnectedcorrectly to the
mother unit and the mains(seesection 'Mains connection'on page 6
and 'Connecting themother unit'on page 7).
The EPX isastand byunit. Pleaseoperatethe mainsswitch 1 on the
back panel to put the EPX in stand by mode.
Only in casesof extended absence (like vacations)or if massivetrouble
on the mainspower isto be expected (e.g. thunder storms)it isrecom-
mended to disconnectthe EPX from the mains.Todisconnect theEPX
from mainscompletely, you have to pull the mainscord off the mains
jack.
Important
•Never pull the mainscord while the EPX or the mother unit is
switched on! Before you pull the mainsplug, power down the mother
unit to stand-by mode and switch off the EPX on the back panel.
5.2Switching on/off
Pleasefirstturn on the mother device by itsmainsswitch on the back
panel. Then operate the mainsswitch on the back panel of the EPX to set
it to stand by mode.
The position of mainsswitch of mother devicesthat need no additional
mainsconnection (seesection 'Connecting themotherunit' on page 7)
isnegligible.
Now operate the mother device asusual, all functionsare the same.If the
mother device isswitched on, the LEDonthe frontpanel of the EPX
reportsthe polarization of mainsphasefor afew seconds(seesection
'Mains phasedetection'on page9) before it keepsshining permanently.
If you switch off the mother device, the power LED of the EPX turnsoff.
Note
•For furtherinformation on starting up amother device with 5-pin
connector incombination with an EPX pleaseconsult the user'sman-
ual of the mother device.

9
5.3Mains phase detection
The EPX isable to detect the correct polarization of the mainsplug. After
pressing the power key on the front panel of the motherunit, the speed of
the LED flashing indicatesthe polarization of the mainsplug.
•If the polarization iscorrect, the LED flashesslowly: ⊗___⊗___⊗
If you see the LEDflashing rapidly ⊗_⊗_⊗_⊗_⊗... pleaseswitch off
the unit andflip the mainsplug. If you now switch onthe EPX again, the
unit should show thecorrect mainspolarization by aslowlyflashing
LED.
Note
•If the EPX issuesthe mainspolarization warning or nowarning at all
for both positionsof the mainsplug, checkthe connection to earthof
your mainssocket and mainscord. You have to ensure astable
connection to earth for the mainsphasedetection of the EPXto
workcorrectly!
6 Protection system
Your Audionet EPX isequippedwith apowerful protection system that
safeguardsthe mother deviceanditself. In caseof an error the EPX will
show thiserror state by aspecial LEDflashcode. If theEPX LEDflashes
like this:
⊂x⊃_⊂x⊃_⊂x⊃_⊂x⊃… (long on, short off)
one of the following errorshave occurred:
•Thermal protection: The EPX will power down if itsheatsinksover-
heat.
•Shortcut protection: The EPX will power down if an excessive cur-
rent isdrawn from itsoutputsover a longer period of time.
In thiscaseyou have topower offthe EPX at mainspower switch at the
back panel. Before turning on again the EPX should cool down, and you
should check for the cause of error and remove the problem.

7 Technical Information
Your EPX providesthemother unit with ideal operating conditions. The
popular usage of accumulatorsshowsthe following seriousdisadvantage:
The output voltage isnot short term stable:The internal impedance is
10 timesworsethan the one of your EPX causing an output ripple voltage
10 timesin magnitude at the same load condition.
The output voltage isnot long term stable: The output voltage ofan ac-
cumulator ishighly dependent from itsstateof charge and usagehistory,
typically ranging from23 V to 28 V. The EPX alwaysprovides24.00 V.
The usageof accumulatorsisquestionableregarding to environmental
concerns.
Lastnot leastyou areable to listen to your music withhigh-end quality
using the EPX whenever you like not beingforced to wait for accumula-
torsbeing charged.

8 Security advice
Important
• Avoid packaging material, especially plastic bags, coming into chil-
dren'shands!
• Store and operate theunit in adry room at areasonable room tempera-
ture only!
• Avoid moisture, any liquids, dirt or small objectsgetting into the unit!
• Set up the unit in a sufficiently ventilated environment!
• Do not cover the unit!
• Do not open the unit. Unauthorised opening will void warranty!
• Use dry cloth for cleaning!
