A.Introduction
Thank youfor choosing the D1917portableDVD player.The main
features includea 9" Digital Screen (16:9 Aspect Ratio) Liquid Crys-
talDisplay (LCD)monitor anda DVD player. Theunit alsocontains a
3 in 1 card reader and a USB port.The unit is designed for use with
SD/MMC,MS memory cardsandUSBmemorydevices.Theunit
applies thelatest state of theart electronics and is designed for use
inhotels, offices oryour home. The unitisconstructed to provide
yearsofreliable, trouble-freeserviceandis compactsothatyoucan
take itwith youanywhereandisdesigned for quick andeasy installa-
tion. Please readthe entireinstruction manual suppliedwiththis prod-
uctpriorto using.Thedocumentation will assist you inusingthesys-
temproperly to obtain thebest equipment performance. Pleasesave
this manual for later use.
B. Cautions and Warnings
1. Placement
Toprevent fireor electric shock, donot expose this unit to rainor
moisture. Keep the unit away from strong magnets, heat sources,
directsunlight, excessivedust. Ifthe unitis brought directly from a
coldto a warmlocation,moisture maycondense inside the unit.
When you move the unit fromacold toawarm location, waitfor
about one hour before operating the unit, or remove the disc and
leavethe unitturned on until themoistureevaporates.
2. Installation
Ensure thatthe9”portableDVDplayeris usedinaccordancewith
the instructions and illustrations provided in this manual.
3. Caution
Donotpushobjectsof anykindintothe unitthroughopenings;do
not spill or sprayliquid ofanykind on or in the unit (thismay

result in a fireor electric shock). Do not placeanythingheavy on
the unit. To ensure proper ventilation and proper operation, never
coverorblocktheslotsandopenings withaclothorothermaterial.
Keep theunit away fromanopenflamesuch as fire, candle etc.
Replacing the batteryincorrectly ishazardous. Replacethe bat-
teryonly with the same or equivalent type. In ordertoprotect the
environment, pleasedispose the batteryproperly. Do notuse the
unit intemperatures higher than95 degrees Fahrenheit or35 de-
grees Celsius.
4.Disassembly
Do not attempt to disassemble the unit’scase. There is a risk of
electric shock and/orexposure toLaser Radiation.Contact quali-
fied service personnel if your system needs repair.
5.Cleaning Unit
Whencleaning,makesurethesystem isunplugged fromthepower
source. Donotuseliquid cleaners or aerosolcleaners. Usea cloth
lightly dampenedwith waterfor cleaningtheexterior ofthe system
only.
6. Disc
Do not use irregularlyshaped discs such asheart orstar-shaped
discs as theymay cause the unittomalfunction.Donotstickpaper,
tapeor glue on the disc. Do not expose thedisc to direct sunlight
or heat sources. Do not touchthe surface ofdisc. Handle thedisc
by itsedge. Cleanthedisc bywipingthedisc from the center out
with a clean cloth. Remove the disc from the unit and store it in its
case after playing. Some playback operations ofdiscsmaybe in-
tentionallyfixed by software producers. Since this unit plays discs
according to the disc contentsthesoftwareproducers designed,
some playbackfeatures maynot be available. Also referto the
instructionssuppliedwiththediscs.

7.RegionalCoding
Both theDVDplayer and disc are coded by region. These
regional codes must match inorder for thedisc toplay.Ifthe
codesdon’t match, the disc won’t play. This unit’s code is region

D. Powering and installation
1. Powering the system indoors (Refer to Figure 1)
Plug one end of theAC to DC adapterinto the DCinputjackon the
left side ofthe mainunit, then plugthe otherend intothe 110~240V
AC power receptacle.
2. Powering the systemin a car
Plugone end of the DC Power adapter into the DC input jackon
theunit, thenplugthe other endinto the vehicle power outlet.

the arrow. Place a disc in the traywith label sidefacingup.
c.Closethe trayby pressingthearea marked PRESS”.Theunitwill
load the discand start playing.
d. Rotate VOLUMEto adjust the LCD’sbrightness and the DVD
player’svolume.

H.Menu
A DVD is divided into sections called titlesandchapters. When you
play a DVD, the root menu of thedisc will appearon the screenof
your TV orMonitor. The contents ofthe menu varyfrom disc to disc.
Press MENU duringplaybackto display the menu. Some DVDs only
allowyou to select disc playbackoptions using the DVD root menu.
I. Display
1. PLAYINGTIME AND REMAININGTIME
a. Duringplaybackpress the ‘DISPLAY’button to displaythe cur-
rent Title Number (1), the total Number ofTitles (2), the current
ChapterNumber (3), thetotal Numberof Chapters (4), andthe
elapsed playingtime for the title (5).

b.Pressing‘DISPLAY’repeatedlywillprovide the followingsequen-

2. SUBTITLE
Duringdisc playbackpress ‘SUBTITLE’toselectthe subtitle language
youdesire*,withthecurrentSubtitle LanguageNumber(1) andthe
total Number of Subtitle Languages(2)displayed. Ifthere are mul-
tiplelanguagespress ‘SUBTITLE’againto selectanother subtitlelan-
guage.Toturn subtitles OFF,press the ‘SUBTITLE’button until ‘Sub-
titleOff’isdisplayed.TheSubtitledisplay willdisappearautomatically
ifthe ‘SUBTITLE’button is not pressed again within 3 seconds.
*Some DVDsonly allowaccessto this functionthrough theDVDmenu
3. AUDIO
During playbackpress ‘AUDIO’to select theaudio languageyou de-
sire*, with the current Audio Channel Number (1) and the total num-
ber of AudioChannels(2)displayed.PressAUDIOagain to select
anotheraudio language. The audiodisplaywill disappear automati-
callyifthe ‘AUDIO’button is not pressed within for 3 seconds.
* Some DVDsonlyallowaccess to this function through the DVD
menu.

4. A-B REPEAT
a. Duringplaybackpress ‘A-B’to set the StartingPointA.
b. Press ‘A-B’asecond time to set the EndingPoint B. The player
willrepeatedlyplay the part betweenPointA andPoint B.
c. Press A-B a third time to cancelA-B repeat and resume normal
playback.
5. 1/ALLREPEAT
a.Duringplayback press‘1ALL/REPEAT’repeatedly tocycle through
therepeat modes.
Chapter:Repeat the current chapter

J. PlayingAudio CDs
When playing an audio CD pressthe DISPLAY button repeatedly on
theremotetoview timeinformation.Theoptions belowaredisplayed
in the folowingsequence.

(3) Press ZOOM”a thirdtime, the picture will be enlarged 4X.
(4) Press ZOOM”afourth time, the picture will return to normalsize.

Total Elapsed:The current track playingand the totaltime thatthe
CD hasbeen playing.
Total Remain:The current track playingand the amount oftime
remaining on theCD.
Display Off:The CD time information is not displayed.
USING THE1/ALLREPEATFEATURE
Thedefaultmode forthe Repeat feature isOFF.PressingREPEAT
consecutively changes the repeat options:
•Track-repeats the track that isplaying.
•All-repeats the disc that isplaying.
•Repeat Off
Asyou toggle throughthe options,the repeatoptionchanges. The selected
repeat option loops repeatedly until you turn itoff.
K.Playing MP3 Discs
MP3isa format for storingdigital audio.AnaudioCD-quality songis
compressed into theMP3 format with very littleloss ofaudio quality
whiletaking up much less disc space.CD-R/RWdiscs that have
beenencoded in MP3formatare compatible with this system.
Whenan MP3discis insertedintothe unit, themenuscreenappears
automatically.Youcanuse themenuscreentoselect your desired
foldersandsongs orthesystem plays thesongs in theorder they
were burned onto the disc.

1.Press the or buttontochoosea folderfrom thefolder liston
the leftsideof the screen.
2. Press ENTERto select thehighlighted folder. The songs avail-
able inthefolder willbe listed.
3.Use the or button to chooseasong fromthelist. Press
ENTERtoselectandbegin playback ofthehighlighted song.
4. Use the( NEXT ) buttonto move to the nextsong. Pressthe
(PREVIOUS) button to move to the beginningof the previous
song.
USINGTHEREPEATFEATURE
Thedefault modefor the Repeat feature isOFF. Pressing REPEAT
consecutively changes the repeat options:
•Repeat One (repeat playback ofa song)
•Repeat Folder (repeatplaybackofa specific folder)
•RepeatOff (normal playback)
As you toggle throughthe options, the repeat mode changes. The
selected repeat mode loops repeatedly until you turn it off.
Note:
”iconinfront ofafilenameindicates that thisisafolder,notan
MP3file.
MP3”iconinfrontofafilenameindicates that thisis aMP3 file.

1)Insert anSD/MMC/MSCard intotheSD/MMC/MS Slotonthe front of
theunit.
2) Insert aThumb Drive into theUSB jackontheleft sideof theunit.
3)Connect theUSB cable (not supplied)fromacameraintotheUSB
port ontheleftsideoftheunit.
4) Press theDVD/SD-USB button. Choose the folder you desire by us-
ingthe UP”and DOWN”buttons.

M. Playing JPEG Files
1)Load the JPEG Disc intotray.
2)TheDVDplayerwilldisplayafolder andtheJPEGScontained within
the folderinathumbnail view.Choose the pictureyou desirebyusing
the UP”and DOWN”buttons.
3)You can viewthe JPEG file you selectedbypressing
PLAY”or ENTER”buttons.
4)Pressingthe DOWN”button rotates the picture 90 degrees
clockwise.
5)Pressingthe UP”Key willreturn to the JPEG menu.
6)When previewingthe file, pressingSUBTITLE”, AUDIO”or
AB”,aniconwillappearonthe display indicatingthattheseoptions
arenotavailable.

Normal/PS:When the player outputssignal toa normal TV,anormal
picture is shown on the full screen.
Normal/LB: When the player outputs signal toa normalTV, a normal
picture is shownon the screen with ablackstrip at both thetop and
bottom ofthe screen.
Wide: When the player outputssignal toa wide screen TV, awide
picture is shown on the full screen.
b) Angle Mark
On:Thescreen will showthe anglemark icon. (Ifanangle optionis
available).
Off: The screen will not displaytheangle mark.
c) Screen Saver
On: Enablesscreensaver.
Note: TheDVD playerwillenterthe Screen Saver mode after ap-
proximately fiveminutes ifthe same imageremains on thescreen.
Off: Disables screen saver.
d) Last Memory
On: The unit willreturnto the last position on the disc when the tray
is opened or the AV In/Out switch position is changed.
Off: The unit will not return to the last position on the disc.

2.Video QualitySetup
1)InSetupmenu,pressthe or buttontoselect VideoQuality
Setup”and is highlighted. Press ENTER toenter the video quality
setuppage.
2) Press the ENTER button, Brightness”is highlighted.
3) Press the or button to select theother menus in video quality
setuppage.
4) Press to enter the sub menu.
5) Press the or button to adjust the quantityand press the
ENTER to confirm your selection.
6) Repeat steps 3-5 for other menus.

3.Password
In Setup menu, pressthe or button toselect Password Setup
Page”and is highlighted. Press ENTER to enter the password page.
PressENTERtwice to enter thePassword Change Page.Input the Old
Password or the DefaultPassword, the NewPassword, and Confirm
the NewPassword. Press ENTER to confirm the change.
Note: The default password is 3308.
4.PreferencePage
1)InSetupmenu, pressthe or buttontoselect PreferencePage”and
is highlighted. Press ENTER to enterthe preference page.
2) Press the ENTER button, Audio”is highlighted.
3)Press the or button to select the other menus inpreference page.
4) Press to enterthesubmenu.
5)Press the or button toselectthe submenuandpressthe ENTER
to confirmyour selection.
6) Repeat steps 3-5 for other menus.

a) Audio:Selects the audiolanguageyou desire. Use theUP or
DOWN buttons to select another audio language.
b) Subtitle: Selects the subtitlelanguageyou desire. Use the UP or
DOWN buttons to select another subtitle language. To turn subtitles
OFF use the UP or DOWNbutton and select OFF.
c) DISC MENU: Selects the menu language you desire. Use the UP
or DOWN buttons to select another menu language.
Note: Languageselection for the audio,subtitle and discmenu is only
available for discs thatare recorded indifferentlanguages. If the
selected language isnotavailable, theplayer willplay anddisplay on
the screen the language that wasoriginallyrecorded on thedisc.
d) Parental
Select ‘Parental’usingtheand button,then pressRIGHTtoenter
the submenu. Select the parental level youdesire usingand the
button fordiscswithlock-out functionormultipleratinglevels.These are
listedfromthelowest level(1KIDSAFE) tothe highest level(8ADULT).
Press ENTER andinput 4 digit password, then pressENTER againto
confirm the parentallevel setting.
Note: Thelevelof 8 Adult isthefactorydefault.
e) Default
Select ‘Default’using the and button,then press to enterthe
submenu. Press ENTER to makethe settingsreturn to the factoryset
mode.
Note: The parentalsettingis notaffectedby thedefaultreset function.
Note: The Default Password is 3308.This passwordisalways effective
even after you haveselectedyour ownpassword andchanged it. To
avoidthe possibilityofothers usingthe default password to set the
parental levelandchangethe password,youcanrecord thisdefaultpass-
wordinanother areaanddeleteitfrom thismanual.Somediscscanbe
limited dependingon the age ofusers while some discs cannot.
