What is the PCIP05?
The PCIP05 is a USB phone that is compatible with Skype. It allows you to
control the Skype interface on your computer without using your mouse and
keyboard. It also allows you to dial numbers, select Skype contacts, and
make Skype calls, allowing you to talk to other Skype users just like you
would with a normal phone. It basically takes the functionality of your
keyboard, mouse, speakers, and microphone and combines it into one unit,
the PCIP05, when it comes to using Skype.
Can I use it as a regular phone?
Unfortunately, the PCIP05 cannot be used as a normal phone because it
does not have the appropriate telephone jack to hook up to a traditional land
line.
Can I use the PCIP05 with other instant messengers (IMs) like Yahoo
and MSN?
Yes, you can use it with other IM services like those offered by Yahoo! and
MSN. However, you will not be able to control the IM interface like you can
with Skype. You can only use the phone for the earpiece and mouthpiece,
that is, to listen and to talk.
Why can’t I hear anything from the ear piece?
To protect your PCIP05 during transit to you, we put a clear piece of plastic
over the earpiece plastic to prevent it from scratching. If this plastic is not
peeled off before use, the sound may sound muffled and be of very low
volume. Remove this plastic and the earpiece sound should then be good.
If you have already peeled off the plastic, the problem may be that the
sound settings are not set properly within Skype. This is easy to solve.
Within Skype go to Tools, then Options, then Sound Devices. Under the
Audio In and Audio Out pull downs, make sure ‘USB Phone’ is selected. Your
PCIP05 should then work.
What do I need to do in order to use the PCIP05?
First and foremost, you need to download and install the latest version of
Skype from www.skype.com. Assuming you have a Skype account, the next
step is to install the included PCIP05 USB Phone Driver software. This
software allows the USB phone to communicate with your computer. Insert
the CD and follow the instructions. You’re now ready to make calls using
Skype!

When I press the buttons on the phone, Skype is not responding.
What’s wrong?
In order for you to be able to use the PCIP05 USB Phone, the driver software
has to be running. You can tell if this is working by checking the system
tray in the bottom right corner of your screen. The orange Auvi phone icon
should show up with the letter B in the corner. This software can be started
by double-clicking the Auvi icon on the desktop.
In the system tray, I see a phone with a question mark next to it. Why
isn’t the B there?

After I turn my computer on, I see a phone with an X next to it in the
system tray. What’s going on?
