Security Notes
•You may only use the charger with the standard
plug–in power supply which are contained in
the box.
•The plug–in power supply must be easily
accessible and located close to the charger, so
that it can be unplugged if needed to avoid an
accident.
•Only use your Avaya 3631 phone in an
environment similar to office environment.
Don’t use it on the outside or in wet
environment.
•Do not open the Avaya 3631 device, you will
cause damage, you can’t repare!

We, Avaya GmbH & Co. KG, declare that the Avaya 3631
phone complies with the basic requirements and other relevant
rules in accordance with EU directive 1999/5/EU (radio and
telecommunication terminal equipment, R&TTE).
This device is intended for connection to WLAN interfaces of
Avaya in the EU and meets the fundamental requirements
formulated in the EU directive 1999/5/EU (Radio and
Telecommunication Terminal Equipment, R&TTE).
If any problems happen to occur during operation, please first
contact your specialist dealer or Avaya Service.

EN Initial Operation
Initial start-up of the handset
1. Insert the SIM card into the slot in the battery com-
partment.
2. Store the PIN and PUK of your SIM card save and
secret.
3. Insert the battery into the battery compartment of the
phone.
Connecting the charger
1. Place the charger on a stable, even surface. Choose
a location, that is protected from direct sunlight and
dampness.
2. Plug the small plug of the connecting cord into the
back of the charger.
3. Plug the plug-in power supply into a socket.
Charging the phone
1. Simply insert the phone into the charger. The phone
will show an animated display "charging...".
2. Charge the battery completely the first time you use
it. Insert the phone into the charger repeatedly during
the first week of use. The new battery attains its full
capacity after it has been charged, used and charged
again a few times.
3. Avaya is not liable for damage which occurs due to
inappropriate handling of the battery.

-To display the menus for changing the phone
settings and accessing applications, press the
A-menu button.
-To go back to the Call Appearance screen at
any time, press the End/power button.
•Navigation and Selection
-Use up/down arrow keys to scroll through
lists.
-The current list item is selected (highlighted).
-The left/right arrow keys are used:
>To access phone features from the Call
Appearance screen, and
>During text entry to move the cursor.
•Soft Buttons
-Select a soft key by pressing one of the two soft
buttons under the labels.
-Some common soft keys and their actions:
Back Go back to previous screen
Cancel Cancel the current action
Details Show extra information about the
current item
Options Context-sensitive menu of possible
actions and options

•Accessing call management features
-From the phone screen, press horizontal arrow
key to switch between viewing your call
appearances and your features.
-To turn a feature on or off, select the feature and
press the OK Button.
•Text editing
-Changing the case: Press * button to shift
between upper and lower case.
-Inserting a space: Press the # button.
-Deleting text: Press the Cancel Button to
delete the character to the left of the cursor.
-Returning to the previous screen: Press the
Cancel Button when the text entry field is
blank.
-Entering text: Type once the first letter, twice
the second letter. For example, press "3" twice
to type "e".
-Moving the cursor: Press the right or left
arrows to move the cursor without deleting text.

EN Making and answering calls
• To make calls do any of the following
-Dial the number using the keypad.
-Get the dial tone before dialing by either:
>Pressing the Send button.
>Pressing the Speaker button.
>Selecting an idle call appearance and
pressing the OK button.
-Contacts or Call Log can be used to make a
call by selecting the soft key when the soft label
Option is displayed.
•The function of the Send Button can be configured.
Either a short press opens the Redial list or a short
press gets dial tone, and a long press vice versa.
The configuration is done in the A-Menu, Call
Settings, Long Press of Send Button.
•To Answer a Call
-If the incoming call appearance is selected, just
press the OK button.
-If it is not selected, scroll to it and then press the
OK button.
•To put a call on Hold - select the call appearance
and press the Hold button. Select the Resume soft
button to make the call active.

Sicherheitshinweise
•Sie dürfen das Ladegerät nur mit dem im Karton
beigelieferten steckbaren Netzgerät benutzen.
•Das steckbare Netzgerät muss leicht
zugänglich und in der Nähe des Ladegeräts
sein, damit man notfalls den Stecker
herausziehen kann, um einen Unfall zu
vermeiden.
•Benutzen Sie Ihr Avaya 3631-Telefon nur in
einer büroähnlichen Umgebung. Benutzen Sie
es nicht draußen oder in einer nassen
Umgebung.
•Öffnen Sie das Avaya 3631-Gerät nicht; Sie
werden dabei Schaden anrichten, der nicht
repariert werden kann!

Erste Inbetriebnahme
Erste Aktivierung des Hörers
1. Führen Sie die SIM-Karte in den Schlitz im
Batteriefach ein.
2. Bewahren Sie die PIN und die PUK Ihrer SIM-Karte
an einem sicheren, geheimen Ort auf.
3. Führen Sie die Batterie in das Batteriefach Ihres
Telefons ein.
Verbinden des Ladegeräts
1. Stellen Sie das Ladegerät auf eine stabile, gerade
Oberfläche. Wählen Sie einen Platz, der vor direktem
Sonnenlicht und Feuchtigkeit geschützt ist.
2. Stecken Sie den kleinen Stecker des
Verbindungskabels hinten in das Ladegerät.
3. Stecken Sie das steckbare Netzgerät in eine
Steckdose.
Laden des Telefons
1. Stellen Sie das Telefoneinfach in das Ladegerät. Das
Telefon zeigt eine animierte Sequenz: „Laden...“.
2. Laden Sie beim ersten Mal die Batterie vollständig.
Stellen Sie während der ersten Woche das Telefon
wiederholt in das Ladegerät. Die neue Batterie
erreicht ihre volle Leistungsfähigkeit, nachdem sie
ein paar Mal geladen, benutzt, und wieder geladen
worden ist.
