6. At the cli prompt (>), type show interfaces ge-0/0/<x>, where <x> is the port that
you are using, which can be 1, 2, or 3.
7. Check the Hardware address for the router port you are going to administer for Ethernet
connections, for example ge-0/0/3. The Hardware address, which is also called the MAC address,
in the example is 00:12:1e:a9:7a:00.
8. At the cli prompt (>), enter configure.
9. At the configure prompt (#), enter the following:
●If a root password has not already been set, set system root-authentication
plain-text-password, and a new password at the prompt, which you must enter twice.
●set system time-zone <time-zone>
where <time-zone> is the name of the name of the time zone, identified by continent and city.
Use the ?option to see the list of time zones.
●set system host-name <host-name>
where <host-name> is the name of the Juniper Services Router to be accessed on the LAN/
WAN
●set interfaces ge-0/0/<#> unit 0 family inet address <IP_address1>/24 arp
<IP_address2> mac <mac_address> publish
where <#> is the Gigabit port number (1, 2, or 3) you want, <IP_address1> is the address of
the router, <IP_address2> is the address of the TGM550, and <mac_address> is the mac
address of the port you are configuring for Ethernet connections.
