TheLiveViewageintheroductrovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
roles.Otheralicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,withoutcomromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comaredwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragesace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofrotocolsandmethodstousedeendsonyourviewingrequirements,andontheroertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailableotionsinAXISMediaControlare:
UnicastRTPThisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused

ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orConstantbitrate(CBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
comlexity,usingumorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreases,thebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurlusinbandwidth,thismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Constantbitrate(CBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomlexity,usingu
morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.CBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandwidthconsumtion.
TheCBRtargetbitrateworksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,whilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitratemaybounce
