TheLiveViepageintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,audiostreamsandtothelistofavailable
streamproles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideoandaudiostreamsdirectly,ithoutgoingviatheLiveViepage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,ithoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparediththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetorkbandidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotheray,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidinghichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourvieingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof
yournetork.TheavailableoptionsinAXISMediaControlare:

TheAxisproductsupportstoH.264proles.TheMainproleprovideshighercompressionthantheBaselineproleiththesame
videoquality,butrequiresmoreprocessingpoertodecode.
ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orConstantbitrate(CBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
complexity,usingupmorebandidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforloerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreases,thebitrateouldusuallyincreaseasell.Ifthereisasurplusinbandidth,thismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)illbesufcient.Butifbandidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Constantbitrate(CBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingup
morebandidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforloersceneactivity.CBRallosyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandidthconsumption.
TheCBRtargetbitrateorksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,hilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitratemaybounce
upanddonithinthesettargetbuthenitnearsthesettargetvalue,thelimitationkicksin.Hoever,becauseCBRillalays
prioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallostemporaryovershootsfromthetargetbitrate.Becausesettingatargetvalueprevents
