Capturemodes
CapturemodedenesthemaximumframerateavailableintheAxisproduct.Dependingonwhichcapturemodeyouselectyou
maynotbeabletouseWDR.
Acapturemodeconsistsofaresolutionandthecorrespondingframerateavailableintheproduct.Thecapturemodesetting
affectsthecamera’seldofviewandaspectratio.
Thelowerresolutioncapturemodeiscroppedoutfromthehighestresolution.
Theimageshowshowtheeldofviewandaspectratiocanchangebetweentwodifferentcapturemodes.
Whichcapturemodetochoosedependsontherequirementsofframerateandresolutionforthespecicsurveillancesetup.For
specicationsaboutavailablecapturemodesseetheproduct’sdatasheetataxis.com.
Replaethelens
1.Stopallrecordingsanddisconnectpowerfromtheproduct.
2.Disconnectthelenscableandremovethestandardlens.
3.Attachthenewlensandconnectthelenscable.
4.Reconnectthepower.
5.Logintotheproduct’swebpagegototheImagetabandthenselecttheP-Irislensyouhaveinstalled.

•ForenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightingforexampleuorescentlightingselectFlicker-free.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•Forenvironmentswithcertainarticiallightandbrightlightforexampleoutdoorswithuorescentlightingatnightand
sunduringdaytimeselectFlicker-reduced.
Selectthesamefrequencyasthepowerlinefrequency.
•TolockthecurrentexposuresettingsselectHoldcurrent.

Toreducenoiseinlow-lightconditionsyoucanadjustoneormoreofthefollowingsettings:

•MovetheBlur-noisetrade-offslidertowardLowmotionblur.

Whenyouincreasethegainimagenoisealsoincreases.
•Setaxshuttertoashortertimeandaxgaintoahighervalue.

Whenyouopentheaperturethedepthofeldgetsshallower.
•MovetheTargetapertureslidertowardOpen.

•Increasethelightlevelinthescene.
•Mountthecamerasothatobjectsmovetowarditorawayfromitratherthansideways.

Important
Ifyoumaximizedetailsinanimagethebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•Makesuretoselectthecapturemodethathasthehighestresolution.
•Setthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•SelectMJPEGstreaming.
•TurnoffZipstreamfunctionality.
Handleseneswithstrongbaklight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.

StabilizeashakyimagewithEletroniImageStabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrationsforexamplewindorpassingtrafc.TurnonEIStogetasmootherandsteadierimagewithoutblur.
EISalsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthebitrateofthevideostream.

WhenEISisturnedontheimageiscroppedslightlyloweringthemaximumresolution.

Improvelienseplatereognition
Tobetterrecognizethelicenseplateofacarpassingbythecamerayoucanapplyandadjustanumberofthings.
Oneoptionistousethepixelcounterinyourcameratosettheoptimalpixelresolution:
1.GotoSettings>System>Orientationandclick.
2.Adjustthesizeandplacementoftherectangleinthecamera’sliveviewaroundtheareaofinterestforexample
wherethelicenseplatesofpassingcarsareexpectedtoappear.Youcanthenseethenumberofpixelsrepresentedby
thesidesoftherectangle.

Youcanuseanobjectofaknownsizeintheviewasareferencetodecidehowmuchresolutionisneededforrecognition.
Inadditionyoucantrytoadjustthefollowingtooptimizelicenseplaterecognition:

2.Starttheapplicationifitisnotalreadyrunning.
3.TosetuptheapplicationclickOpen.
4.Selectunits(metricorimperial).
5.EnterthevaluesforRoaddistanceCameraheightVehicledistanceandMaxspeed.
6.TomakebothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisibleturnonWDR.
7.Settheleveloflow-lightgaindependingonthelightconditions.
8.IfexternalIRilluminationisavailableselecttheSupplementalIRilluminationcheckbox.
9.ClickSave.
