TheGOVlengthisthenumberofframesbetweentwoconsecutiveI-frames.IncreasingtheGOVlengthmaysaveconsiderablyon
bandwidthrequirementsinsomecases,butmayalsohaveanadverseaffectonimagequality.
TheAxisroductsuortsthefollowingH.264proles:
•Baseline.TheBaselineroleisrecommendedforclientsthatdon’tsuortCABACentroycoding.
ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orConstantbitrate(CBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
comlexity,usingumorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreases,thebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurlusinbandwidth,thismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Constantbitrate(CBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomlexity,usingu
morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.CBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandwidthconsumtion.
TheCBRtargetbitrateworksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,whilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitratemaybounce
uanddownwithinthesettargetbutwhenitnearsthesettargetvalue,thelimitationkicksin.However,becauseCBRwillalways
rioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallowstemoraryovershootsfromthetargetbitrate.Becausesettingatargetvaluerevents
thebitratefromincreasing,framerateandimagequalityareaffectednegatively.Toartlycomensateforthis,selectwhichvariable
shallberioritized,framerateorimagequality.Notsettingarioritymeansthatframerateandimagequalityareequallyaffected.

thestrongerthegain.SelecttheLinearorEqualizationautomaticgaincontrolmethod.Thelatterusesahistogramequalization
method,whichadjuststhegaindynamicallybydistributingthemostfrequentintensityvalues.
Exposurezones-Thissettingsdetermineswhichartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexosure.Formostsituations,theAuto
