Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.
•Changethepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear.
Verifythatnoonehastamperedwiththermware
TomakesurethatthedevicehasitsoriginalAxisrmware,ortotakefullcontrolofthedeviceafterasecurityattack:
1.Resettofactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage50.
Afterthereset,securebootguaranteesthestateofthedevice.

Stabilizeashakyimagewithelectronicimagestabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.
Note
TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.

Activatestrobesirenwhenafreezergetswarm
Withthethermometryfunctionality,youcandetecttemperaturechangesinthemonitoredarea.Inthisexample,thecameramonitors
thetemperatureinafreezer.Ifthefreezergetstoowarm,thecameratriggersanAxisstrobesirentoalertstaffonthepremises.
Thisexampleexplainshowto:
•Setupatemperaturedetectionareainthecamera,thatmonitorsifthetemperatureinthearea'swarmestpartexceeds
-18°C(0°F)formorethan30seconds.
•Createaruleinthecamera,thatstartstheAxisstrobesirenifthefreezergetstoowarm.

•CreateanewuserwiththeroleOperatororAdministratorinthestrobesiren.
•Createaprolecalled“Temperaturealarm1sec”intheAxisstrobesiren.Setthedurationoftheproleto1seconds.

2.InName,typeHightemp.
3.TurnonUsearea.
4.InTemperatureinthearea,selectWarmestspot.

Createarecipientinthecamera
1.Inthecamera'sdeviceinterface,gotoSystemEventsRecipientsandaddarecipient.
