1 Introducon
1.1 Legal Disclaimer
All products (soware, hardware or rmware) manufactured by Workswell s.r.o. are warranted against defecve
materials and workmanship for a dened period, provided such products have been under normal storage and
use in accordance with herein instrucons.
In the case of a defect in a product covered by this warranty the product must not be further used in order to
prevent addional damage. The purchaser shall promptly report any defect to Workswell s.r.o. or its authorized
distributor or this warranty will not apply.
Workswell s.r.o. will, at its opon, repair or replace any such defecve product free of charge if, upon inspecon,
it proves to be defecve in material or workmanship and provided that it is returned to Workswell within the
said dened period.
Nobody but Workswell s.r.o. is allowed to open or modify such product.
Workswell s.r.o. has no other obligaon or liability for defects than those set forth above. No other warranty is

3.1 Typographic Convenons
Following typographic convenons are used in this User Manual:
UPPER CASE is used for the names of keys, buons and menu items

Firmware is the „internal“ control program of the device. From the user’s point of view, only the ocial rmware
released by Workswell s.r.o. company can be used for update of the device.

4. WARNING AND CAUTIONS
4 Warning and Cauons
4.1 Warnings
Before using the product, please check that there is no visible damage or malfuncon. If there are any visible
signs of damage or other defect on the device, then on no account should it be installed or put into operaon.
Any interference and non‐cered service operaons into the product leads to an automac loss of warranty.
4.2 Nocaons
Do not use or store the device in conict with the storage and operang condions laid down in this manual
(only for hardware).
Do not point the infrared camera (with or without the lens cover) at strong energy sources, for example,
devices that cause laser radiaon, or the sun. This can have an unwanted eect on the accuracy of the
camera. It can also cause damage to the detector in the camera.
Plug the camera to its own power source.
Do not use the Workswell SAFETIS system in temperatures higher than +50◦C (+122◦F). High temperatures
can cause damage to the camera.
Do not use the Workswell SAFETIS system in temperatures lower than ‐10◦C (+14◦F). Low temperatures
can cause damage to the camera.
Use the Workswell SAFETIS only in enviroments with noncondensing water.
Do not apply solvents or equivalent liquids to the cameras, the cables, or other items. Damage to the items
can occur.
Be careful when you clean the infrared lens. The lens has an an‐reecve coang which is easily damaged.
Do not use too much force to clean the infrared lens. This can cause damage to the an‐reecve coang.
The encapsulaon rang is only applicable when all the openings on the all components of the system are
sealed with their correct covers, hatches, or caps.

6. SYSTEM OVERVIEW
6 System overview
Workswell SAFETIS is a thermal system specially constructed and developed for the fast detecon of the risk of
are‐up before the occurrence of re. It is intended as all‐in‐one soluon featuring a thermal camera, control
unit, I/O card, as well as a TPC/IP interface integrated within a single casing including an in‐built web server
allowing for communicaon with a superior system, including any PLC with this interface.
6.1 Types of SAFETIS camera
There are dierent types of the SAFETIS thermal cameras, depending on the required installaon:
SAFETIS INDOOR ‐ designed for interier installaons.
SAFETIS OUTDOOR ‐ designed for outdoor installaons.
SAFETIS OUTDOOR Pan‐Tilt ‐ type of SAFETIS OUTDOOR camera with high level of IP 67 coverage and PTZ
posioning system. This type version of SAFETIS contains some addional seng opons that will be
introduced in each corresponding chapter of the manual.
SAFETIS Stainless Steel ‐ type of SAFETIS OUTDOOR camera, equiped with Stainless Steel cover designed
to provide addional resistance under external condions.
SAFETIS EX‐proof ‐ type of SAFETIS OUTDOOR camera with specially modied cover for enviroments with
the risk of explosion. This camera has ATEX cercaon.
6.2 SAFETIS interface
SAFETIS Camera can be connected to the SAFETIS Control unit and controlled through SAFETIS Control soware
or it can be used with any device supporng TCP/IP interface, thanks to the in‐built web server.

7 System assembly
7.1 Connecon
For fully controlling the SAFETIS you need:
Ethernet Cable
1x M12 5‐pin cable for power supply (Safes indoor only)
1x M12 8‐pin cable for Digital Outputs
7.1.1 Power Supply
7.1.1.1 SAFETIS Indoor Power Supply
You can power your SAFETIS with M12 5‐pin cable. Voltage between VCC and GND pins must be within range
18VDC ‐ 32VDC. You can see the power connector pinout in the Figure 7.1a.

To power‐on the SAFETIS, connect the power wires to the board power supply connector J3 (230VAC or 110VAC)
as shown on the gure 7.2, following the connector labelling for polarity as explained in 7.3b. Connect the
camera to the J4 connector. J2 connector is heater power supply.
Note: Exceeding the input power range may cause damage to the SAFETIS.
SAFETIS Outdoor has power consumpon 80W.

7.1.2 Digital Outputs
You can use 7 Digital Outputs of your SAFETIS with M12 8‐pin cable. Each Digital Output is set as an open collector
circuit. You can see the Digital Outputs connector pinout in the Figure 7.4a and output’s schemacs and example
circuit in the Figure 7.5. Output current per channel is 0.5A.

8. GENERAL USAGE OVERVIEW
8 General usage overview
This chapter should provide the reader basic usage informaon for understanding SAFETIS funcons, the logic
behind it and basic terminology.
8.1 Controlling SAFETIS
The SAFETIS is intended as all‐in‐one soluon featuring a thermal camera, control unit, I/O card, as well as a
TPC/IP interface integrated within a single casing including an in‐built web server allowing for communicaon
with a superior system, including any PLC with this interface.
8.1.1 Web server
Aer powering the SAFETIS up and connecng it to Ethernet network, the device should be available on default
IP address 10.0.XX.YY, where XX.YY are rst two numbers and second two numbers of the Serial Number of the
SAFETIS camera (For example camera with the serial number 1001 has the default IP address 10.0.10.01). This
IP address can be changed later.
All the users need for conguring and controlling the SAFETIS is computer or tablet with at least 10” screen with
web browser. The built in web server should be running few seconds aer the SAFETIS boots up.
The web server is available on the standard web port 80.
8.1.2 Login control
The inner logic of SAFETIS does not allow more users to log into the web server simultaneously. This should
prevent unexpected sengs changes from administrator or operator.
The current user logged in must be rstly disconnected before another user can use the SAFETIS web server. This
can be done through special web pages described in chapter 9.
8.1.3 Users
There two types of users: administrator and operator.
Administrator
Administrator (or ”Admin”) is a unique user that can not be created nor deleted. Administrator has the highest
privileges, he/she should prepare SAFETIS for operator to perform measurement sessions.
Administrator can also reset all operator sengs to default values.
To log in as Admin, use the Administrator Master Key. This key was delivered and printed on a special Administrator
Master Key card. If you lose this key, please contact support on the web support.workswell.eu. You can also set
new Administrator password in the system opons.

Operator
Operator is a user with the privilege to control measurement sessions. Operator can start or stop the measurement
sessions and should watch over the measurement and progress.
8.1.4 Admin and Operator Modes
As with the two kind of users, there are two basic modes with dierent web pages on SAFETIS web server.
If administrator logs in to web server, the ”Admin Mode” starts. If operator logs in, the ”Operator Mode” starts.
Admin Mode
Admin mode takes the administrator through several tabs and web pages with sengs. The administrator should
follow these tabs and prepare sengs for the operator and future measurement.
Please refer to chapter 10 for further details.
Operator Mode
Operator mode is just a single web page. Upon operator logging, the measurement session can be started or
stopped.
Please refer to chapter 11 for further details.
8.1.5 ROI
One of the most important sengs is so called Regions Of Interests, or ROIs.
ROI is an point or an area of a thermocamera image upon which the measurement computaons and evaluaons
are performed. The SAFETIS measurement can have several ROIs.
For further informaon, please refer to chapter ??.
8.2 Measurement overview
When operator logs in, the measurement can be started. The SAFETIS will not do any measurement neither will
it produce any digital signal unl the operator starts the measurement session.
8.2.1 Measurement session
When measurement session starts, the SAFETIS will perform an image calibraon and produce digital outputs
according to the previously created sengs.
It will do individual measurements and evaluate the results. Each single measurement can consist of data
collecng from incoming thermal images.

The SAFETIS will connue a measurement unl the operator stops the measurement session.
8.2.2 Digital outputs
During the measurement session, the SAFETIS will produce the digital outputs according to the sengs.
These signals should be controlled from the PLC unit.

9. LOGIN
9 Login
If you power up the SAFETIS, log‐in screen appears. There are two types of log‐in screen, one if there is not any
measurement in progress and one if there is.
9.1 No measurement in progress
For logging in, follow these steps:
1. Select the user you want to log‐in. For opening the SAFETIS sengs mode, select the ”Admin” user. For
opening the operator mode, select operator from the combo‐box menu
2. Type in the correct password.
3. Press Log In
