Barco Galaxy NH-12 User manual

NH-12
Barco’s NH-12 is the world’s first three-chip DLP projector that features a full 1080p
HD resolution and Windows desktop integration capabilities.
The NH-12’s 12,000 lumens light output is strong enough to project clear images
even in the brightest environments, rendering it a perfect asset for any auditorium,
large meeting room or bright presentation environment.
1080p HD, 12,000 lumens three chip DLP projector with optional
multi-windowing software
Flawless image quality for large
venues
Barco’s NH-12 is the first three-chip DLP projector in the world that effortlessly
combines a bright light output of 12,000 lumens with, 1080p HD resolution and an
optional Windows desktop interface. The NH-12’s technological capabilities are
further enhanced by its unique floating point video processing that deepens its color
saturation, and its compact, powerful 2kW xenon lamp.
The NH-12 responds to the need of companies and organizations to have reliable,
professional and user-friendly projection for large meeting rooms and auditoriums with
lots of ambient light.
All sources connected to the NH-12 are
rendered in familiar windows. These
can be resized, moved or made to
overlap anywhere on the screen
without delay. For example, you can
comfortably display a DVD feed
alongside data from an MS Office
application and important auxiliary
images. In this way, the XDS Control
Center offers the most flexible and
user-friendly way of working with
multiple sources.
Barco’s XDS Control Center is a multi-
windowing software suite that
integrates a familiar Windows
desktop environment into Barco
projection systems. It enables direct
and easy access to all connected, local
and networked sources simultaneously
with mouse and keyboard.
Whether the NH-12 is used as a stand-
alone unit or as part of a larger display
system, thanks to the XDS Control
Center, you will have the same familiar
Windows interface on your screen.
The features of the XDS Control Center
that enhance your collaborative
workflow include:
Windows desktop OS
The NH-12 projects a widescreen
Windows desktop, and turns it into an
extremely user-friendly presentation or
meeting room canvas. This interface is
immediately familiar, lowering the
threshold for you to get the maximum
out your system.

Razor-sharp, natural video-
conferencing
An added asset of the NH-12’s superior
1080p HD resolution and its networking
capabilities is that it can display
videoconferencing applications in
lifelike, natural detail on a large
screen. You can control audio and
camera settings, and let
videoconferencing windows run
alongside other sources and
applications easily.
Centralized control and
support
The NH-12 presents a
great asset for your
tech support staff, as
it allows easy,
centralized control
and diagnostics over
the network. It
enables remote display
management, including
automated startup and
shutdown. You can also create, test and
control layouts remotely in preview
mode, from the comfort of your own
office, even when not connected to the
display, and later upload your changes
when you are back online.
Mouse and keyboard control
Why make things difficult? Thanks to
the XDS Control Center, the NH-12 is
controlled simply with mouse and
keyboard, like a regular desktop
computer, eliminating the need to
invest in additional peripherals or learn
how to operate them. If you have the
networked desktop sharing tool
installed, you can use your display
system’s mouse and keyboard to
directly take control of remote
desktops.
Rapid source and layout
selection
Through the XDS Control Center, you can
directly access sources by clicking on
the corresponding icons. Similarly, you
can create and save layouts to recall
them later through the same menu.
This way, you don’t need to waste time
in recreating the same layouts. You can
also group layouts in folders, and cycle
through layouts within these folders,
rendering the NH-12 an extremely flex-
ible presentation tool.
Remote desktop sharing
You want direct access to your own
desktop during a meeting? With Barco’s
XDS Control Center, you can. You can
easily retrieve any number of wired or
wirelessly connected desktops, and
display them on the screen. Conversely,
you can send your computer’s desktop
image to one or more local and remote
display systems. This remote content
transfer is always password-protected
and encrypted, to guarantee maxi-
mum safety for sensitive operations.
Revolutionary new design
Ready for multi-channel action
The aesthetically designed NH-12
boasts a completely new chassis. Its
liquid-cooled optical engine is aimed at
a significantly increased reliability, as
well as some of the lowest noise levels
in its class, averaging well under 49dB.
The NH-12’s optical engine is also fully
sealed, which means no dust can enter
and cause degradation in contrast and
black levels, and the need for filter
replacement is eliminated. The NH-12’s
rock solid lens holder further
guarantees long-lasting image stability.
All of this grants the NH-12 a system
lifetime that is substantially longer than
that of similar three-chip DLP systems,
a platform already noted for its great
reliability.
Barco’s NH-12 comes readily equipped for multi-channel action, if you require an
even larger viewing canvas. The NH-12 possesses the following features that make
it an excellent tool for such applications:
rock solid lens holder
removable cable basket
liquid-cooled optical engine
fully sealed optical engine
•Through Barco-engineered electronic
or optical edge blending, overlap
zones where projections converge are
completely eliminated, creating one,
seamless image.
•Linked constant light output (CLO)
and DynaColor accurately match color
and brightness levels across channels
to guarantee the same image quality
throughout the entire image, inde-
pendent of projector or lamp runtime.
Optionally, Barco’s NH-12 can also be
equipped with Barco-engineered
warping capabilities that ensure pixel-
perfect projection on curved or
spherical screen surfaces, to guarantee
a complete feeling of immersion in your
presentation.
The price of a projection system is more than just its purchase: servicing,
maintenance, peripherals and learning curves should also be taken into account,
and often add up to a much higher cost. When fully integrated with the XDS
Control Center software, Barco’s NH-12 greatly reduces the total cost of ownership
on many levels:
Applications
Corporations
Large meeting rooms and boardrooms
greatly benefit from the NH-12. When
everyone pulls up their presentation from
the network and multiple remote partici-
pants can be involved in the meeting, your
meetings become more efficient and
interactive. Simultaneous display of data
and video in 1080p HD greatly enhances
the pace of decision-making, and the NH-
12’s ease of use ensures that everyone
can operate the system.

• You save time, because you don’t need
to learn how to work with a new interface
and connect various sources over and over
again. You simply use Windows and its
Barco XDS Control Center options.
• You save money, because you don’t
need to buy remote controls or matrix
switchers. Instead, you use keyboard and
mouse, and display sources simultaneous-
ly on one screen, in fully reconfigurable
windows.
• Reduce maintenance costs. Your pro-
jection system is practically maintenance-
free due to its sealed optical engine, and
its centralized control and maintenance
functionalities eliminate many manual
check-up routines..
• Improved reliability. Thanks to its liquid
cooling and its top-of-the-line xenon
lamp, the NH-12 boasts a significantly
longer system lifetime compared to other
three-chip DLP systems.
Higher education
Auditoriums need projection systems with
light outputs that can pierce through the
most luminous of ambient light condi-
tions, and the NH-12 does exactly that. It
also enables teachers to cross-analyze
widescreen content simultaneously, or
even teach from a remote location. With
the XDS Control Center software, it is also
possible to conduct a presentation that is
invisibly controlled by an associate, so
that you have your hands free at all times.
Conference centers
Professional conference centers will find a
powerful ally in the NH-12, not only due
to its exceptionally high brightness and
input versatility, but also because it offers
centralized maintenance and diagnostics
capabilities. Your tech support staff
receives automatic e-mail alerts in case
of trouble, and automated startup and
shutdown sequences greatly reduce the
strain on your staff to go and switch on
each system manually.
