BENOIT SYSTEMS KITCOOL 2.0 User manual

2
general remarks
KITCOOL 2.0 is intended for users who have appropriate posture and behaviour to safely use the
device in the best conditions. Unlike able-bodied people who spend less time sitting down and have a
broad choice of chairs offering positions to relax and rest, people in wheelchairs, for whom transferring
chair is never easy, don't have the same options and have to suffer the inconvenience of a sustained and
prolonged seated posture.
KITCOOL 2.0 is an innovative, removable and ergonomic headrest designed to be tted to manual
wheelchairs to offer users, whenever they want it, the most ideal position for relaxation and comfort
that the body needs.
Users can, simply by tipping, put themselves into a position tipped backwards. In this way, users can
change position as often as they wish without having to perform a transfer.
Folding, lightweight and small, it can be taken everywhere and is easy to store.
3 adjustment points to adjust the equipment perfectly to each person's body shape and disability:
• Adjust the inclination of the headrest: it is tipped and positioned to make the head perfectly
comfortable.
• Adjust the height of the headrest cushion: its rolled shape and its double curve hold the head in an
adjusted position, without tension in the neck muscles.
• Adjust the degree to which the wheelchair tips backwards, using a telescopic vertical axis.
Simple, ergonomic and light, KITCOOL 2.0 is tted between the handles of the manual wheelchair,
without damage or altering the wheelchair specications.
KITCOOL2.0 therefore provides the advantages of a comfort wheelchair that allows a downward sloping
position, while also keeping the characteristics of a simple, folding, lightweight manual wheelchair.

warning indicating the risk level.
WARNING

Gives advice, recommendations and useful information for efcient, problem-free use.
Symbols used in this manual
KITCOOL2.0 is a ClassI medical device that meets the performance and safety requirements of
Regulation (EU) No2017/745 on medical devices.
Regulations
KITCOOL2.0, with its reclining function and ideal ergonomic adjustment, overcomes this unfairness
by offering greater comfort and well-being to people in manual wheelchairs and therefore ts into a
therapeutic and compensation strategy for the disability.
Compatible with all manual wheelchairs tted with handles, KITCOOL 2.0 is adapted to situations
requiring compensation for independence, comfort and transfer functions for disabled people affected
by severe and long-term disabilities. Its design is dictated exclusively for use by a disabled person.
From a therapeuc viewpoint, KITCOOL 2.0 reduces condions related to prolonged seated posture:
• Relieves the back and nape of the neck: the head is held; the shoulders are straightened; neck and
shoulder muscles are relaxed; the spine is supported.
• Opens the thoracic cage: breathing and swallowing are aided. KITCOOL2.0 position restores the
head to a more favourable position, because a head tilted strongly forward impedes breathing and
swallowing.
• Prevents and reduces bedsores: pressure on the ischia is reduced by 30% to 40% and the maximum
pressure point is moved.
• Eases tension: with better distribution of body weight, the body is relieved.
• Improves blood circulation and venous return: the legs are no longer swollen.
Benoit Systèmes considers the service life to be ve years as long as the product is used for its intended
purpose and instructions for use, safety and maintenance are followed. However, this service life can
be exceeded when the product is serviced and maintained carefully and used cautiously, appropriate
to its technical specications. The service life may also be considerably shortened following extreme
or inappropriate use. The service life set by our company does not constitute an additional guarantee.
