POWER
1. Installing Batteries
Open the battery compartment on the rear of the radio and insert 4 x 1.5V/D size/UM-1 batteries (not
supplied), observing the correct polarities (=+-), as indicated inside the battery compartment.
Note: When the batteries become wear, the volume will become faint and distorted and the band
reception becomes unstable. Please replace discharged batteries with new ones as soon as possible.
2. DC Operation
The unit can also be operated by a 6V/300mA regulated DC Adaptor (not supplied). This should be
connected to the DC input jack (5) of the radio and plugged into a suitable 230V AC mains socket. Please
check the polarity of the plug.
Note: The batteries do not need to be removed when using a DC Adaptor, as the battery power source will
be cut off automatically.
3. AC Mains Operation
Connect the figure-of-eight plug into the AC cord input jack (13) on the back of the radio, and the 3-in mains
plug into a suitable 230V power socket.
When connected to the mains, the unit will automatically cut off the battery or DC power source (if still
connected).

Note:
•Always be safety aware when operating the radio by AC mains power.
•Please keep the unit away from damp and humid conditions –water and electricity do not mix.
•When connected to the mains power, keep the radio out of the reach of children.
•This unit is operated by 230AC Mains –50Hz.
3 RADIO OPERATION
1. TURNING THE RADIO ON OR OFF
To switch the radio on, rotate the ON/OFF/VOLUME knob (7) clockwise until a click is heard. The blue LED
KNOB backlight (10) will light up. Turn the knob anti-clockwise to switch the radio off, the LED KNOB
backlight will go off.
2.BAND SELECTION
Turn the radio on and slide the upper BAND SELECTOR switch (4a) up to select FM/AIR/MB or AM. Set the
upper band switch at AM, and then select MW, LW, SW1-2 bands with the lower band switch(4b).
3. SEARCHING FOR A STATION
Searching for a Station
After selecting the desired band (4), turn the FAST TUNING knob (8) or the SLOW TUNING knob (9) to set the
red DIAL pointer (3) at the desired station.
Adjusting the volume
After switching the unit on, increase the sound volume by turning the knob (7) in a clockwise direction.
Decrease the volume by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction and the selection ranges between 0-10.
It is recommended to set the volume at a medium level to start with.
Connecting earphones
To avoid disturbing others while listening, earphone or headphones (not supplied) can be connected to the
3.5mm dia. Earphone Jack.
Insert the pin at the end of the cord fully into the Jack (6) and make sure the volume level is set at a low to
medium setting before listening. Increase the level in small increments until the desired level has been
reached.
Caution! Listening through earphones with the volume set too high may cause permanent hearing
damage!

Bass Boost
To add more Bass sound, turn the BASS turning knob (11)
in a clockwise direction.
For less Bass sound, turn the knob anti-clockwise.
The selection ranges from 0…10.
USING THE ANTENNA
Receiving a MW Broadcast
The radio has a built-in ferrite bar antenna.
Rotate the unit horizontally for optimum
reception.
Receiving an FM Broadcast
Extend the Telescopic Antenna (1) for better reception.

Receiving SW Broadcasts
Stand the Telescopic Antenna (1) vertically for better reception.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
The radio reception is not very good.
•Rotate the radio or place it in a different location for best reception.
•Adjust and extend the FM aerial.
•For SW reception, place the antenna in an upright position.
The sound of the radio is very distorted and the volume very low
•The batteries may be exhausted replace them as soon as possible.
The radio keeps drifting off the Band selected.
•Check the connections between the DC Cable pin and DC input Jack (5) and mains plug and socket.
•Check the connections between the AC mains cable figure-of-8 plug (13) and mains plug and socket.
•Check the batteries are not discharged and have been inserted correctly check the polarities (+/-).
•Check the unit has been switched on, the LED KNOB backlight (10) should light up.
I cannot get any reception from AIR/MB
The radio can only pick up AIR/MARINE band signals in your line-of-sight. Make sure you can see a
plane/ship that may be transmitting at the moment you are tuning in.
CAUTIONS
1. Avoid dropping the unit.
2. Avoid sharp knocks to the radio.
3. Do not place the radio in a place where it is exposed to
extreme sunshine, heat, or humidity.
4. Do not use alcohol, thinners, or other strong detergents to
clean the radio.
5. To clean the cabinet use a soft cloth slightly dampened with a
solution of water and mild detergent.
6. Do not allow water to drip into the cabinet.
7. It is recommended that as soon as the sound becomes faint
or distorted, the batteries are replaced.
8. Do not mix new batteries with old ones, or batteries of
different brands, or alkaline with rechargeable ones.
9. If the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time,
remove the batteries to avoid any damage caused to the
radio by battery leakage and corrosion.
10. No user serviceable parts inside the radio.
11. Leave servicing to qualified service personnel and
technicians.

BATTERIES
•Keep batteries away from children and pets.
•Do not mix used and new batteries.
•Remove the batteries if left for long periods.
•Never dispose of batteries in a fire.
•Battery disposal, spent or expired batteries must be properly disposed of and recycled in compliance
with local regulations. For detailed information, contact your local authority.
•Follow the battery manufacturer’s safety, usage, and disposal instructions.
PLUG WIRING (UK & IRELAND)
This appliance is fitted with a BS 1363 13-amp plug. If you have to replace the fuse, only those that are ASTA
or BSI approved to BS1362 and with a rated current of 13-amps should be used. If there is a fuse cover fitted,
this cover must be re-fitted after changing the fuse. If the fuse cover is lost or damaged the plug must not be
used. Spare fuse holders and fuses are available from electrical outlets. If the socket outlets in your home or
office are not suitable for this product’s plug, the plug must be removed and disposed of safely. Attempts to
insert the plug into the wrong socket is likely to cause electric hazard. A replacement plug should be wired
according to the following instructions:
The cable
A mains electricity cable contains two or three inner wires. Each has a core of copper and an outer layer of
flexible plastic. This product is earthed; the wires in the cord set are colour coded in the following way:
