terminalonthehighpressurefilteror

2.Connecttheotherendofthe
groundingcabletoasuitablegrounding
device
(e.g.groundingbar).

shown.Ifnecessary,addmaterialto
thesolventcup.(Orderpartno.
0114‐009433forsolventbasedpaint,
andpartno.0114‐014871for
waterbornepaint.)
2.Selectasuitablefilterelementusing
thetableinthismanual(page10)and
insertitintotothehighpressurefilter
(0110‐009130).
3.Attachasuitablefluidhosetothe
outletfitting(0114‐016059)onthe
highpressurefilter(0110‐009130).
4.Connectthegun—designedatleast
forthemaximumpermittedworking
pressureofthepump—tothefluidhose.
5.Makesurethattheballvalveonthe
aircontrolassemblyisclosed.
6.Connectthecompressedairsupply
totheairinletconnection.
7.Thepumpisequippedwithanair
pressureregulator(0115‐010183).
Beforeputtingthepressurelineinto
operation,relievethepressure
regulatorbyfullyunscrewingthe
regulatingscrew.Thereafterrotate
theregulatingscrewclockwiseuntil
thepressuregauge(0115‐010192)
ontheregulatorindicatesthe
requiredpressure.
RINSINGTHEBINKSPUMP
EveryBINKSpumpistestedwithwater
duringfinalinspectionandthoroughly
rinsedwithanon‐gumming
preservativeoil.Withthisrinsing
process,itispossiblethattheresidual
moistureofwateremulsionwillbeleft
inthepump.
Beforetheunitisstartedupforthe
firsttime,asuitablesolventmustbe
usedtothoroughlyrinseoutthe
remainsofthepreservativefluidand
theunavoidableimpuritiesintroduced
duringequipmentassembly.
Proceedasfollows:
1.PreparetheBINKSpumpforstart‐up
asshownabove.
2.Closethehighpressureballvalve
(0114‐019091)onthefluidfilter.
3.Immersethesuctionsysteminthe
tankofsolvent.
4.Insertthereturnflowhose
(0114009103)intothetankof
solvent.Openthehighpressure
ballvalve(0114‐019091)onthe
fluidfilter.
5.Opentheballvalveandsettheair
regulator(0115‐010183)to
approximately1bar(14.5psi).The
suctionsystemnowdrawsinthe
solvent.Thesolventrunsbacktothe
solventtankthroughthehighpressure
filter(0110‐009130),thehighpressure
ballvalve(0114‐019091)andthereturn
flowhose(0110‐009103).
6.Removethespraytipfromthegun
andpointthegunintothetank.Unlock
thesafetyleveronthegun,operatethe
gunandclosethehighpressureball
valve.Thesolventwillnowflowthrough
thehighpressurefilter(0110‐009130),
thefluidhoseandthegun,backintothe
tank.Thetimeof
rinsingdependsonthelengthofthe
materiallinesandthesolubilityofthe
spraymaterial.Werecommenda
shortreflushwith"fresh"solvent.
7.Releasetheguntrigger.
8.Slowlyincreasethepressureatthe
regulatortomaximumworking
pressurewhilecheckingandtesting
thatalllinesandscrewandplugcaps
aretightlysealed.Ifthereareanyleaks
inthesystem,shutdowntheBINKS
pumpimmediately.Onlyrestartthe
BINKSpumponceyouhaverepaired
theleak.
9.Reducetheairpressureattheair
regulator(0115‐010183)againand
closetheballvalve.
10.Makesurethatthereturnflowhose
(0110‐009103)isstilldirectedintothe
solventtank.Carefullyopenthehigh
pressureballvalve(0114019091)to
reducethepressureinthefluidhose
andinthehighpressurefilter.
11.Pointthegunintothetankof
solventandoperatethetrigger,to
reduceanypressurewhichmaystillexist
inthefluidhoseandinthegun.
START‐UP
1.PreparetheBINKSpumpforstart‐up
asshownaboveandifnecessary,rinse
pump.
2.Closethehighpressureballvalve
(0114‐019091)onthefluidfilter.
3.Immersethesuctionsystemin
thespraymaterialtobeused.
4.Placethereturnflowhose(0110‐
009103)inthetank.Thenopenthehigh
pressureballvalve(0114‐019091).
5.Opentheballvalveforthe
compressedairsupplyandusethe
pressureregulator(0115‐010183)toset
thecompressedairsupplyto1bar(14.5
psi).Thepumpwillnowdrawinthe
spraymaterial.Thespraymaterialflows
backintothetankthroughthehigh
pressurefilter,thehighpressureball
valveandthereturnpipe.

CAUTION !
Once work is completed, the BINKS pump
must be thoroughly cleaned. Under no
circumstances must you allow paint residue to
dry out in the unit. To clean the pump, use a
solvent appropriate to the spray material.
