8 • Compression of nerves (chronic) 25 min
Nerve root compression in the lumbar and sacral spine, with pain radi-
ating to the lower extremities, intense pain and limited mobility. Unlike
the acute form, this is a permanent disorder which may improve or worsen
temporarily. Frequently, this is a result of degenerative changes in the spi-
nal column.
Purpose of the applications >To provide relief from pain, allow fur-
ther recovery of mobility, enhance the regeneration process and maintain
a long-term bearable condition.
9 • Arthritis of joints 25 min
It is an inflammatory joint disease including rheumatoid arthritis, as well as
arthritis related to other diseases such as gout, psoriasis, etc.
Purpose of the applications >To reduce inflammatory symptoms
and relieve pain. To establish better conditions for healing and regen-
eration by stimulating the vascular system and by enhancing blood flow,
oxygen and nutrient supply and elimination of metabolites.
10 • Arthritis of the spine 25 min

or other conditions, such as gout, psoriasis, etc.
Purpose of the applications >To suppress inflammatory symptoms,
reduce pain and improve mobility. To establish better conditions for healing
and regeneration by stimulating the vascular system and by enhancing blood
flow, oxygen and nutrient supply and elimination of metabolites.
11 • Bekhterev’s disease 30 min
A specific inflammatory disease of the spinal column associated with
an immune system disorder, characterised by long-term duration
and gradual progression. The disease results in significant mobility limita-
tion and is accompanied by severe pain.

of mobility. To suppress inflammatory symptoms and slow down progression
of the disease.
12 • Rheumatism 30 min
An inflammatory disease of joints, joint capsules and other tissues charac-
terised by a significant immune component.
Purpose of the applications >To suppress inflammatory symptoms
and reduce pain. To improve metabolic conditions for healing, regenera-
tion and normal function of the affected tissues.
13 • Endoprotheses 20 min
Conditions with implanted artificial joint or another replacement of dama-
ged tissues. In most cases, metal or plastic implants are used for the
replacement. All the metal components are made of non-magnetic metal,
so the low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy can be commonly used
in patients with these conditions.
Purpose of the applications >To provide better metabolic condi-
tions in tissues before and after prosthetic device implantation to improve
the healing process, accelerate the recovery, reduce pain and help maintain
the best possible condition and function of the surrounding tissues.
14 • Post-surgery conditions 20 min
Postoperative conditions require intensive recovery and an increased
metabolic turnover in the affected tissues to accelerate the healing pro-
cess and avoid complications.
Purpose of the applications >By widening the bloodstream, the low-
frequency pulsed magnetic field supplies more oxygen and nutrients
to the blood, therefore aiding the healing process. It also releases and
removes metabolites and harmful substances that hinder the healing pro-
cess.
15 • Fractures 45 min
Treatment of fractures and injuries to bones and cartilages. Therapy should
be started as soon as possible after the injury and surgical treatment.
Purpose of the applications >Low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy
affects not only the soft tissues but also bone and cartilage tissues, sig-
nificantly supporting and accelerating the healing process, new formation
and restoration of the damaged tissues.
16 • Carpal tunnel 60 min
Carpal tunnel is a syndrome caused by compression of the neurovas-
cular bundle and tendons of the finger flexors in the narrowed channel
of the wrist, resulting in numerous neurological and mobility disorders,
including pain.
Purpose of the applications >To support anti-swelling and anti-infla-
mmatory effects, to provide relief from or elimination of the compression,
and to improve regeneration of the affected tissues.
17 • Tennis elbow 60 min
This includes pain in the elbow joint, called epicondylitis or tennis elbow,
resulting from one-sided overexertion.
Purpose of the applications >To reduce pain and support the healing
process, in addition to other surgical and rehabilitation treatments. Inflam-
matory diseases of the tendons and ligaments tend to become chronic
and recur in case of early exertion or insufficient treatment and recovery.
Therefore, magnetic therapy is recommended for prevention even during
the remission stage.
18 • Postamputation pain 30 min
Post-amputation pain, or phantom pain, is sometimes experienced
in the phantom limb or stump after limb amputation.
Purpose of the applications >To reduce pain and increase the chance
of elimination of these painful sensations.
19 • Prostatitis (prostate inflammation) 20 min
Benign prostatic hypertrophy and inflammation of the prostate are common
diseases in men and their incidence increases with age, usually starting
at around the age of 50. Swelling and inflammatory changes result in impaired
urine flow, with more frequent urination of small amounts of urine.
This condition is not only annoying but also poses a serious risk of devel-
oping malignant prostatic disease.
Purpose of the applications >To use the anti-swelling and anti-inflam-
matory effects of the low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy for healing
and restoration of normal functions.

Usermanual page | 7
20 • Extremity ischaemia 25 min
(reduced blood flow to extremities)
Damage to blood vessels in the extremities (arteriosclerotic changes and other
causes) results in insufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to the muscles
and tissues. This leads to many trophic changes that may result in limb amputa-
tion.
Purpose of the applications >Low-frequency pulsed magnetic thera-
py dilates minor capillaries and pre-capillaries, and significantly improves
blood flow and supply of oxygenated blood to the tissues. In this way,
it provides better conditions for normal functioning.
21 • Diabetic foot 20 min
Diabetes may cause diabetic neuropathy and microangiopathy, i.e. damage
to minor arteries that supply oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Acid
metabolites accumulate in the tissues leading to further progression
of the disease. Trophic changes may result in venous ulcers and amputa-
tion.
Purpose of the applications >To reduce pain and improve blood circu-
lation in the tissues. The therapy supports vascular flow, i.e. blood vessel
dilation – to increase oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissues and release
and remove accumulated acid metabolites. This will increase the chance
of saving the limb while reducing the secondary consequences of the dia-
betes in the vascular system.
22 • Tinnitus 30 min
Tinnitus (murmur or whistling in the ears). This condition is caused by
a dysfunction of a part of the inner ear, mostly due to ischaeamic vascular
changes.
Purpose of the applications >The goal of magnetic therapy is to influ-
ence the vascular system and improve oxygen and nutrient supply, and to
try to preserve the function of the hair cells in the inner ear, which leads
to normalisation of functional pathological manifestations, and minimises
further permanent damage.
23 • Venous ulcer 15 min
Venous ulceration is disintegration of the superficial tissues of limbs due
to vascular changes in the lower extremities.
Purpose of the applications >To support healing regenerative pro-
cesses and create the best possible conditions for healing of the lesion
and improved viability of the affected tissues.
24 • Brain dysfunction (children and adults) 25 min
Minimal brain dysfunction in children is a disorder of the central nervous
system in children. It is developed during intrauterine life, due to birth
trauma, ischaemia and many other factors. The extent of damage deter-
mines a wide range of pathological manifestations, from mobility disorders
to impaired concentration, learning, etc. The basis of therapy is targeted
for long-term rehabilitation.
Brain dysfunction in adults is usually related to insufficient vascular supply
of the brain and degenerative changes due to ischaemic, autoimmune,
toxic, and other changes.
Purpose of the applications >Pulsed magnetic therapy is a suitable
physiotherapeutic method, leading to muscle tone adjustment, improve-
ment and better repair. Remarkable effects have been described in sci-
entific literature even in children with severe musculoskeletal dysfunction.
In adults, low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy is intended to improve
oxygen and nutrient supply to create better conditions for preservation of
the brain’s functions.
25 • Polyneuropathy 25 min
Polyneuropathy is a diverse group of disorders related to the peripheral
nerves. Usually, this is a systemic process with involvement of multiple
nerves, resulting from various internal and external causes (such as inflam-
mation, metabolic, immunopathogenic mechanisms, toxic factors, nutri-
tional and vitamin deficiency, degenerative causes, etc.). The usual symp-
toms include tingling, burning, pain, reduced sensitivity, uncertain walking,
muscle weakness, aches and spasms, and many other symptoms.
Purpose of the applications >Magnetic therapy is the optimal sup-
portive method for all types of polyneuropathy. It modifies the immune
system and its responses, has anti-inflammatory effects, reduces pain,
improves blood circulation and metabolism in tissues, improves oxygen
supply to the tissues and supports regeneration.
26 • Periodontal disease 45 min
Periodontitis is chronic inflammation and damage to the periodontium,
i.e. the tissues that surround and support the teeth. The very first symp-
toms are swelling and reddening of the gums, bleeding, painful sensa-
tions when cleaning teeth, and halitosis.
Purpose of the applications >Stimulation of tissues by low-frequen-
cy pulsed magnetic field significantly improves blood oxygen supply
to the affected gums to support the healing process, eliminate swelling,
suppress inflammation, and reduce pain. Magnetic therapy is an effective
complement to dental care.
27 • Muscle fatigue 30 min
Muscle fatigue after exercise, heavy physical work and when exhausted.
Purpose of the applications >To reduce pain and create metabolic
conditions to accelerate muscle recovery.
28 • Regeneration 25 min
Regeneration after physical work and sport, targeted preparation for in-
tended demanding activities.
Purpose of the applications >To accelerate the recovery process and
restore energy reserve in muscles by improving blood oxygen and nutrient
supply and removing acid metabolites. This will help create optimal condi-
tions for the next demanding physical activity.
29 • Before massage 20 min
A 20-minute preparation before a massage session and before the use
of manipulation procedures.
Purpose of the applications >To enhance blood circulation in tissues,
release and remove acid metabolites, relax muscle spasms and contrac-
tures and provide optimal preparation for the massage session so that
the final effect is much greater and stronger.
30 • Relaxation 45 min
The application is intended for individuals who need to achieve intensive
relaxation. Recommended after increased physical and mental exertion
and in those suffering from psychological stress.
Purpose of the applications >To achieve calming and overall relaxa-
tion of the blood circulation and nervous system.

8| page Usermanual
31 • Magnetisation of water 20 min
(metabolic disorders)
The low-frequency pulsed magnetic field may be used to treat drinking
water and/or foods with a high water content (drinks, fruits, etc.).
Purpose of the applications >By affecting the inner structure and bonds
of water molecules, water is activated and the bonding capability of water
as a solvent is increased, stimulating all metabolic processes in the body.
32 • Individual program 5-120 min
Factory setting: frequency 50 Hz, wobbling 10 Hz, program type rotary,
wobbling type pulse by pulse + rectangle, intensity 100%, duration 30 min.
Program which enables custom setting of parameters for the applications:
frequency, frequency wobbling, application type, wobbling type, pulse
profile, intensity and time.
For setting the Program INDIVIDUAL, refer to the table of prevailing thera-
peutic effects and other information specified on page 16.
Purpose of the applications >Allows the user to enter their own set-
ting of the program and find the best frequency range with optimised
parameters.
Automatic program repeat
max. 4x 2 h = 8 h + time of the last repeat
Allows to repeat the selected program 4 times in a row.
Each repeat is started 2 hours after the beginning of the program
application.
For example, program 3 • Joint arthrosis 45 min
First application 45 minutes, then 1 hour 15 minutes pause, second
application 45 minutes and again 1 hour 15 minutes pause, etc.
Purpose of the applications >Allows the user to enter their own set-
ting of the program and find the best frequency range with optimised
parameters.
Other applications of magnetic therapy can be found in professional
literature (brief list - see page 30).
Cellulite
Cellulite starts at an early age, especially in overweight people, in certain
vulnerable areas of the body, in connection with malfunction of the vas-
cular and lymph skin circulation and insufficient removal of metabolites
and toxic substances from these areas. This results in changes in the liga-
ment and subcutaneous adipose tissue which are enlarged, hypertrophic
and stiff, which leads to unsightly, “orange peel” skin.
The healing method is derived from the cause of the disease. The aim is to
improve the vascular and lymph circulation, improve the supply of oxygen-
ated blood, enhance metabolite and toxic substance removal, and reduce
excessive subcutaneous adipose tissue.
Purpose of the applications >Low-frequencypulsedmagnetictherapy,
due to the significant vasodilatation, anti-swelling, counter-inflammatory
and detoxification effects – supports other healing procedures and motor
activities (lymph drainage, stabilisation of weak ligaments, diet and exercise
procedures, medical cosmetics, etc.), which results in higher efficiency
of the healing process. The applications can be made even more effective
by combining magnetic therapy and polarised light.
Properly functioning vascular and lymphatic systems require sufficient
intake of liquids – the basic condition of any detoxification process.
Magnetic therapy should be applied every day, repeatedly, on the affected
parts of the body.
It is recommended to use program 28 • Regeneration preferably twice
in a row at least once daily.
In addition to the programs above, magnetic therapy is also used in health-
care practice for its beneficial effects on other health problems. The most
frequent conditions are pre-set in the Biomag®Lumina CLINIC system.

Based on the Intended purpose listed on page 3, the Biomag®Lumina is
used for pulsed magnetic field applications.
Applications are recommended especially for musculoskeletal problems,
vascular insufficiency and a wide range of degenerative diseases.
Recommended number of applications
Twice a day, in more severe cases the application can be carried out on
average 3 or more times a day, usually for at least two weeks, for chronic
conditions significantly longer.
The preset times for the individual programs are the minimum recom-
mended time for inducing the respective effect and can be extended up
to 120 minutes.
The maximum number of applications and the maximum recommended
application time is not specified, and according to the doctor’s recom-
mendation, applications can be repeated and for a long time.
Mechanism of effects (principle of biological action)
Magnetic therapy is based on the influence of an artificial magnetic field
of certain parameters on the human body. It is a physical therapy which
generates large-area pulsed magnetic field of low frequency. Pulsed mag-
netic field acts on the cell membrane permeability, i.e. it improves and ac-
celerates metabolism. Blood circulation and oxygen supply is significantly
better in the part of the body to which the pulsed magnetic field is applied.
Increased metabolic turnover and improved supply of exposed tissues
with oxygenated blood and nutrients provide optimal conditions for healing
and regeneration. The magnetic field traverses the entire organism and
thus acts on each cell (to achieve the Intended purpose). The effectiveness
of therapy applications is individual, and independent sources report an
average of up to 70% effectiveness when used appropriately.
Range of possible use
The Biomag®Lumina can be used to alleviate problems wherever the
cause of these problems can be positively influenced by inducing the ef-
fects of LPMF below. The effects of Biomag®applications can be used
in all medical fields.
Effects of low-frequency
pulsed magnetic field
Biological changes in the tissues resulting from the effects of low-
frequency pulsed magnetic field can be beneficially used in a number
of health problems. The effects can be summarised in six treatment
groups and effects:
• pain-relieving (analgesic)
• myo-relaxing (relief from spasms)
• anti-swelling (anti-oedema)
• vasodilating (widening the bloodstream)
• metabolic-detoxifying (degrading pollutants)
• healing (with support of regeneration, anti-inflammatory
and anti-rheumatic)
Frequencies inducing preferable therapeutic effects are described
and provided graphically in the table on page 16.
Pan-relieving effect
Due to magnetic induction, the LPMF stimulates generation of current
in nerve fibres, which blocks painful sensations moving from the pain
source via the spinal cord to the brain centres, and as a result of this
and some other mechanisms (enhanced endorphin production, suppres-
sion of inflammation and swelling, myo-relaxation), it leads to pain relief.
Increased production of endorphins and control of calcium ion transfer
across the cell membrane also helps to achieve vasodilation, and anal-
gesic and calming effects. After application of LPMF, increased activity
of lactate dehydrogenase (required for removal of lactic acid which stimu-
lates nerve receptors and causes pain) has been demonstrated in exposed
muscles. Especially good pain-relieving results with the Biomag®system
have been proven in radicular (root) and pseudoradicular syndromes (sci-
atica, compression of nerves for various reasons). The analgesic effect
is the basic effect, for which magnetic therapy is used in most people.
It can be widely used in a whole range of degenerative diseases of the
musculoskeletal system, post-traumatic and postoperative conditions.
Myo-relaxing effect
Relaxing skeletal muscles. Low-frequency pulsed therapy is used to re-
move acid metabolites faster (due to enhanced perfusion and improved
activity of lactate-dehydrogenase), which results in relief from painful
irritation in muscles and in the sites of chronic inflammation. This reduces
pain and relieves painful muscle spasms (contractions). Magnetic ther-
apy has also demonstrated significant deceleration of nerve conduction
in the lower extremities of athletes – this effect also contributes to myo-
relaxation (muscle relaxation). The myo-relaxing effect of the Biomag®
system on the back muscles (para-vertebral striated musculature around
the spinal column) brings relief from many problems, e.g. stiff cervical
spine, headache, dizziness, impaired hearing, limited mobility, pain that
spreads from the spine to the extremities, etc.
The myo-relaxing effect on the muscles brings relief during colic and re-
laxation of the skeletal muscles is necessary in the treatment of any painful
conditions of the musculoskeletal system.
Anti-swelling effect
Of accelerated metabolism after the LPMF application enables faster
re-absorption of swelling and provides significant anti-inflammatory
and analgesic effects in the affected area. Position the Biomag®system
applicators over the affected area (e.g. in the case of an ankle sprain)
and repeatedly perform 30-minute to 45-minute stimulations three times
daily to achieve significant relief from swelling and pain. Anti-swelling
and anti-inflammatory effects can also be used successfully for upper
respiratory tract infections, sinusitis, inflammation of the gums, in allergic
rhinitis, etc.
Vasodilating effect
LPMF affects the polarization of red blood cells by positive charge. It acts
against the stacking (coin-roll formation) of red blood cells as it causes
their re-dispersion, thereby increasing the surface area capable of binding
and carrying oxygen. Blood which has passed through a magnetic field
has a higher ability to bind oxygen (it is easier to oxidise). Polarisation
of red blood cells improves the muscle tone of blood vessels, arter-
ies and capillaries – causing their dilation (vasodilation) and enhancing
the supply of oxygenated blood and nutrients to the tissues and faster
removal of toxic substances out of the cells. The partial oxygen pressure
is significantly increased. The LPMF acts positively on erythrocyte plastic-
ity. More flexible blood cells can better adapt to "obstacles" in the vas-
3. APPLICATION

Usermanual page | 15
culature. LPMF also reduces the risk of blood clots (thrombi). Low-fre-
quency pulsed magnetic therapy activates the parasympathetic nervous
system and promotes the efflux of Ca2+ ions, which leads to relaxation
of the blood vessel muscles (particularly pre-capillary sphincters)
and to subsequent vasodilation. All this contributes to harmonisation
of the heartbeat, circulation and blood pressure. LPMF has proven suc-
cessful, mainly in mild forms of ischaemic heart disease, but also in lower
and upper limb ischaemia, non-healing lower leg ulcers, and in all perfu-
sion disorders. No recanalisation of already obstructed vessels occurs,
but the collateral circulation in the skin and muscle tissues is greatly
dilated.
Vasodilation is desired in any vascular system disorders where the oxy-
genated blood flow is impaired, i.e. in ischaemic disorders of the extremi-
ties, heart or brain, all cases where a better supply of oxygen helps healing
and improving the function of the tissues and organs and also provides
anti-inflammatory effects.
Metabolic-detoxifying effect
Stimulation of metabolism. LPMF passes evenly through the exposed tis-
sues, i.e. through every cell, inducing weak electrical currents there. This
leads to changes in the surface potentials of the cells, changes in cellular
membrane permeability, increased blood circulation, improved oxygena-
tion, nutrient supply and better removal of metabolic waste from the ex-
posed tissues, which are the basic requirements for any healing process.
Enhanced metabolism, removal of waste products and detoxification
initiate any healing and regenerative process. For example, exposition
of the liver using the Biomag®system stimulates liver function, and ac-
celerates and enhances detoxification processes in the whole body.
Local effects are achieved by placing the applicator on the affected area
– e.g. muscle, joint, spine, etc. By using a small applicator, we can achieve
strongerlocaleffectsduetoahigherinduction,whiletheuseoftheapplicator
with a larger application area results in a greater positive whole-body
metabolic effect despite the lower induction.
This effect leads to improvement in many diseases and conditions,
e.g. diabetes, gout, regeneration of tissues after infections (hepatitis,
mononucleosis, toxic destruction of tissues, etc.), and also in eczema
and allergies.
Healing effect
Has been demonstrated for bones and soft tissues, and it is explained
by a nonspecific irritation of the cytoplasmic membrane, which leads
to the activation of the metabolic chain, where the key point is the alteration
of the cAMP/cGMP ratio and increased activation of osteoclasts during
bone healing. LPMF significantly accelerates the healing process, activates
the formation of new tissue (rapid building of bone tissue and calcification)
and leads to increased sensitivity to the parathyroid hormone. Therefore,
low-frequency pulsed magnetic field is used to accelerate the healing
of fractures, pseudo-arthrosis (false joint), and for the reinforcement
of loose and painful endo-prostheses. The LPMF application increases
the level of proteoglycans in cartilage by up to 22%, which allows healing
and regeneration of cartilage that is otherwise difficult and influenced only
to a limited extent. Accelerated wound healing has been demonstrated
not only in blood, but also in soft tissue. The Biomag®series systems
have a positive effect on both sterile (rheumatoid diseases) and microbial
inflammations and their healing. They induce increased phagocytic
activity, including production of superoxide, which inhibits microbial
flora, but can also be a source of temporary impairment, such as in patients
with rheumatism during the first applications. Subsequent activation
of superoxide dismutase leads to alleviation of symptoms and onset
of healing changes. Especially good results are achieved in the radicular
and pseudo-radicular syndromes (sciatica, nerve oppression of various
origin). This effect is a complex of other partial effects and it supports the
natural ability of the human body to heal and regenerate.
Characteristics of the low-frequency pulsed
magnetic field and frequency range used
in the Biomag systems
Polarity of applicators
Pulse of one polarity generated by the Biomag®systems allows the ap-
plicators to always have the same polarity at a certain area (applicator
polarity and its identification are described on page 21).
Frequency low-frequency pulsed magnetic field
Low frequency: 1 to 10 Hz
Pain-relieving and myo-relaxing effects prevail.
Medium frequency: 10 to 15 Hz
Anti-rotational effects prevail, suitable for chronic and degenerative disea-
ses. They have both pain and vasodilatory effects, inflammation, improve
blood flow and sap flow.
Higher frequency: up to 25 Hz
Stimulating effects prevail which support bone healing, improve post-
traumatic conditions and burns, stimulate healing process during acute
disease. It has a detoxifying and healing effect, to a lesser extent also
analgesic and anti-inflammatory.
Frequencies: above 25 Hz (26 to 162 Hz)
Used when we need to increase the intensity of the LPMF effects,
or for certain types of health problems such as burns, difficult fracture
healing, and pseudoarthrosis. Intended for more intensive stimulation of
the healing process, regeneration, and detoxification.

Selection
and use of the applicators
From the applicators available (see below), always select the type that
best suits the particular therapeutic purpose, and place it as close
to the surface of the treated part of the body as possible. Some applicators
can be fixed to the affected part of the body with an elastic strap. Most
of the others allow fixation on the body using optional accessories.
It is good to use it if necessary because precise positioning of the applicator
increases the application process efficiency (for solenoids generating the
spatial pulsed magnetic field, it is sufficient just to insert the treated part
of the body into the inner space of the solenoid). When assessing the suit-
ability of individual applicators, we focus on ensuring that the applicator
is placed comfortably on the body as close as possible to the affected
area, and whether or not in-depth solenoid therapy with an applicator
is needed or a flat applicator is sufficient.
In both modes (EASY and CLINIC) in programs marked with the
symbol, it is convenient to use the applicator with a triple-connector (page 10),
which turns on the individual components of the applicator gradually
and guarantees that when the applicator components are assembled,
or get close to each other, the magnetic field intensity is not reduced.
It also provides better penetration of magnetic field into the treated part
of the body, which improves the efficiency of the application.

Brief instructions for settings based on required therapeutic effects
For setting pulse shape, LPMF intensity and frequency modulation use program 32 • Program Individual and set the required parameters.
The table shows prevailing therapeutic effects based on frequencies (guide for the Program INDIVIDUAL).
dark field = the most effective frequency range for a given treatment effect
bright field = frequency range for a given therapeutic effect with a less significant effect
The following description is focused on the choice of frequency and
other LPMF parameters by therapeutic effects. It is used for the Pro-
gram INDIVIDUAL. Therapeutic effects are provided on page 14–15.
For easier setup you can also select the option of preset parameters
for each program (description of simple setup procedure is provided
on page 10, for a list of preset programs, see pages 5–8 and 18–20).
Knowledge of the cause of the problems is a critical requirement for
the application (Patient profile, page 3). It determines the frequency
that is to deliver the desired effect. To provide benefits in a number of
medical conditions and disorders, it is suitable to use more effects,
in a successive or alternate manner.
For example, problems with severe pain will be addressed first by using
frequencies inducing analgesic effect, and after remission of the acute
pain, frequencies inducing healing or other desired final effects should
be used.
Pulse profile, intensity of LPMF and frequency modulation (wobbling)
The program INDIVIDUAL indicates pulse profile for each frequency
and intensity. A sharp pulse profile has a stimulating effect (PIKE, TRI-
ANGLE) while other profiles (ROUNDED=SINUS, RECTANGULAR)
have pain-soothing effects and relax spasms. Modulation of frequencies
in three-minute sequences provides the desired effect in a smooth man-
ner. Modulation of frequency after a pulse provokes more pronounced
response of the body. These facts should therefore be taken into consid-
eration when choosing the right application.
In this manual, we mainly describe and recommend the program frequen-
cy range of 1-81 Hz. Frequencies above 81 Hz (designed for special
applications) are used for certain types of disabilities, such as burns,
poorly healing fractures and pseudo-arthrosis. In cases where the cause
of local pain is somewhere else, we recommend applying pulsed mag-
netic field using two applicators at both sites simultaneously.
Each effect and the use of magnetic therapy should be judged
by the specific condition and response of each patient. In the event
of an unexpected reaction, stop the application immediately! The ap-
plication should not be resumed unless checked by the specialist
doctor based on the procedure specified by them.
When magnetic therapy is used as part of treatment, some people may
expect a slight temporary increase in sensitivity. This is a so-called spa
syndrome and is frequently followed by a significant improvement. You
are advised not to stop the application, but only to reduce the application
intensity for 2-5 days.

Usermanual page | 17
The Biomag®Lumina electronic system is a modern system for the ap-
plication of pulsed magnetic fields of low frequency which have a positive
regenerative effect on human health boosting the immune system. Ope-
ration of the system is very easy. There is indication of states, including
failures. Some states are indicated by audio signals.
In the EASY mode (for home care), the system offers 32 programs
with the frequency range of 1 to 81 Hz, and in the CLINIC mode
(for healthcare providers), there are 108 programs with the frequency range
of 1 to 162 Hz. The system generates pulses of one polarity and has
10 time ranges of time, five levels of output power, four outputs
and it is relatively powerful despite its very small size. The components
of the device and the applicator are tested at a test voltage of 4000 V
which guarantees absolutely safe operation.
Biomag®Lumina is a portable magnetic therapeutic system designed for
non-continuous operation. The application is ended when the selected
program has finished. All indicators and controls are on the front panel of
the device.
At the bottom of the front part of the device there are 4 connectors for the
applicators and a connector for the power cord. The back side includes
a label with identification data of the system and the manufacturer, and
the bottom part includes the serial number and the system restart pinhole.
Disconnection of the system from power supply is done either by pull-
ing the power cord from the device (the power cord connector is shown
on page 10 in the description of the system and its controls), or by pulling
out the power cord plug from the electrical socket.
Specifications of the system are provided in Table 1 on page 18, software
is specified in Tables 2 and 3 on pages 18–20.
Other Biomag®models are based on the technical solution and param-
eters of the Biomag®Lumina.
4. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
When and how often to apply
low-frequency pulsed magnetic field
In general, the application time of magnetic therapy should be different
for different cases, sometimes also repeatedly in long cycles. Where it is
possible, do not stop magnetic therapy suddenly, but at the end lengthen
the intervals between applications.
We recommend that patients with low blood pressure should rest for
about 20 minutes after the application. The recommended number of ap-
plications for short-term difficulties is 20 to 30, but at least 10 applica-
tions. Long-term repeated applications are recommended particularly for
chronic conditions and aftercare.
If there is a slight impairment in the course of day 1 – 5 of the treatment,
it is a well-known process in the initial reactive phase and it is not a reason
for discontinuing the treatment. The pain usually disappears during the
following applications and is followed by significant improvement.
If there is no reaction to treatment within 5 – 6 applications, there is
a resistance to therapy. In such cases the effects may appear with 15–20
applications.
Minimum application time is 20 minutes, the minimum number of applica-
tions is 10 while the optimum number is 15-20, in severe cases even more.
Pulsed magnetic field may affect functional disorders, although not fixed
pathological changes. Biomag®low-frequency therapy is not addictive,
meets all safety standards and uses an entirely user-safe method.
Before using the system, you should first consider all contraindica-
tions!
Further information for low-frequency
pulsed magnetic field applications
Physiological mechanisms of the magnetic therapy act on the systemic,
organ, tissue, cellular and molecular levels.
Magnetic therapy may accelerate the remission of problems in painful
conditions of vertebrogenic or muscle origin, during inflammatory con-
ditions of nerves, muscles, tendons and bones, in the treatment of joint
swellings, arthrosis, while also accelerating the healing of bone fractures,
improving blood circulation in the affected areas, etc. In most cases,
the patient does not perceive any sensation during the application.
The Biomag®tester is used to check the pulsed magnetic field.
Magnetic field penetrates all parts of the body, bones and tissues equally,
the patient does not need to undress and even plaster casts are not
a problem.
Metal implants are not contraindicated for the low-frequency pulsed mag-
netic therapy.
The patient takes a comfortable position (sitting or lying down) before start-
ing therapy.
Attach the applicator close to the surface of the body area that is to be
treated, or the painful area.
If possible, the first five applications should be performed on successive
days.
