What is Delta
Pulse Oximetry?
Delta Pulse Oximetry is the
unique method of obtaining
simultaneous differential Masimo
SET readings, derived by dual
channel pulse oximetry at
pre- and postductal spots.
This special conguration is well
suited for the easy implementati-
on of the Screening Protocol for
the systematic detection of Criti-
cal Congenital Heart Defects.

Services that outlined a strategy

difference operator
to describe change,
because delta is the in-
itial letter of the Greek
word „diaphorá“,
meaning „difference“.

Preductal Spot (Right Hand)
Place sensor on the outer lateral aspect of the right hand.

Obtain all three Readings at a time
Record both SpO2 - and the DELTA readings.

Postductal Spot (Left or Right Foot)
Place sensor on the outer lateral aspect of either foot.
Step 4
Assessment
NEGATIVE Screen (Pass):
SpO2≥95% in hand or foot
AND DELTA (hand-foot difference) ≤3%.
POSITIVE CCHD Screening Test Result:
SpO2< 90% in hand OR foot,
OR
3 repeated positive screens (SpO290-94% in the hand AND foot
OR hand-foot absolute difference is > 3%)
