iCOMPEL EDS Quick Start Guide
Setting Up iCOMPEL EDS
The iCOMPEL™EDS Subscriber (OPS compatible)
connects a display to your network and, via your
broadband connection, enables you to control your
displays from anywhere in the world using the
Internet.
What’s Included

System Maintenance
From the System Maintenance tab, you can select
Windows Reboot Settings, Hibernate and Wake-up
Values, Disk Space Usage, Player Settings, and Ethernet
Settings.
Playback
From the Playback tab, you can select how the content
looks to the user.
Wizard
From the Wizard tab, you can enable or disable the
composer management and video presets.
Optimization and Expert Settings
Optimization settings include Merge Video, Merge
Composer, Merge Queued Playlist, and Playlist Cache
Options.
Expert Settings include Video Settings, Composer
Settings, and Miscellaneous Settings.

Connecting Your iCOMPEL EDS Hardware
1. Install the iCOMPEL EDS Subscriber in your
displays.
2. Connect the Subscriber to the network.
3. Plug in the Subscriber.
iCOMPEL EDS Subscriber Configuration
The iCOMPEL EDS is pre-configured to talk to
eds.blackbox.com. When you power on the unit, it
should connect and play a demonstration playlist.
To configure the EDS Subscriber to retrieve content
from your own Manager or Publisher:
1. Press the “Escape” key. This will pause the player
and return you to the Microsoft®Windows®7
embedded desktop.
2. Click on the EDS Subscriber icon in the system tray
with the right mouse button.
3. Then click on the “Configuration” item in the
pop-up menu that appears next.
The Configuration menu has seven tabs, including
Publisher, Subscriber Information, System Maintenance,
Playback, Wizard, Optimization Settings, and Expert
Settings. Use these tab options to customize the
subscriber to your environment.
Publisher
Type in: Content Path
Result: Sets the path where the synchronized content
is stored (normally remains as the default).
Type in: Address
Result: Sets the IP address of the Manager or
Publisher used to provide content to the Subscriber.
Type in: User
Result: Sets the Manager or Publisher user account
used by the Subscriber.
Type in: Password
Result: Sets the password of the user account.
Type in: Password (Confirmation)
Result: Confirms the password.
NOTE: You can also configure the synchronization
interval, software update settings, and multi-
player settings from the Publisher screen.
Subscriber Information
Type in: Name
Value: This is the name for the Subscriber.
Type in: Location
Value: Set the location information here to help easily
locate the Subscriber or screen from the user interface.
Type in: Notes
Value: Here you can write additional notes about this
particular Subscriber.
Type in: Available Groups
Value: Select the proper group for this Subscriber.
NOTE: You can also configure the TeamViewer version,
ID, and password; IP address; and MAC address
from the Subscriber screen.
NOTE: The Subscriber is factory-optimized, and the
additional settings do not normally require
adjustment.
