he BLACK BOX®Universal Mini
Media Converter provides a
connection between a twisted-
pair segment and an female
Attachment Unit Interface (AUI)
with slide latch. Transceiver drops
or other male AUI devices can be
connected to a 10BASE-T segment
with the device.
The converter comes with an
external power suppl to drive the
converter and an micro or mini-
transceivers that ou attach to it.
In the simplest of applications,
ou can use the Universal Mini
Media Converter to connect a
10-Mbps twisted-pair cable to an
AUI terminated cable. But when
it’s used with transceivers and
mini transceivers, other media
connections are easil possible.
An Ethernet transceiver with a
standard male AUI interface, for
instance, can be connected to
the converter via its female AUI
connector.
Attach any twisted-pair segment
to any female AUI connector
with slide latch.

Use the converter to:
• Convert 10BASE-T to
10BASE2 or 10BASE5 via the
converter plus a 10BASE2 or
10BASE5 transceiver.
• Attach 10BASE-T cable to
10BASE-FL (multimode) cable
via the converter plus a
10BASE-FL transceiver.
• Link 10BASE-T to single-
mode fiber optic cable via the
converter plus a single-mode
fiber optic transceiver.
Two models are available—
choose the one that works with
our local power:
• Universal Mini Media
Converter with a 95–125-VAC
power suppl (LE1510A-R2)
• Universal Mini Media
Converter with 200–250-VAC
power suppl (LE1510AE-R2)
The chip controlling internal
operation enables the media
converter to also operate as a
repeater (per IEEE 802.3 repeater
specifications). This means ou
can extend our Ethernet network
topolog further because the
device amplifies the signal
between the connected segments
(as long as ou don’t exceed the
repeater hop count).
The 10BASE-T port on the
converter has an MDI/MDIX
switch, so there‘s no need to worr
about attaching a correctl pinned
twisted-pair cable. For crossover
cable connections, just slide the
switch. The converter’s internal
10BASE-T circuit accounts for and
corrects an polarit -miswired
cable attached to its 10BASE-T
port.
And the converter’s high-
strength metal case protects it
from electromagnetic interference
(EMI).

Pol/TP, Act/TP, Col/TP, Col/AUI,
