OVERVIEW
Expand your telephone line use and dramatically reduce
your monthly phone line costs with the Commercial Phone
Line Managers from Black Box.
Because Internet use has skyrocketed in the last few
years—and as companies increase their use of fax machines,
fax/modems, and credit-card terminals—there has been a
burgeoning demand for more telephone line connections.
And installation and monthly line charges have increased.
There’s no need to order new dedicated telephone lines—
which are costly to install and maintain each month—when
you can use your existing telephone lines among multiple
devices via the Commercial Phone Line Managers. Each device
connected to a Phone Line Manager has access to a dedicated
line when it needs it. Since our Phone Line Managers accom-
modate multiple telephone lines, several devices can be using
dedicated telephone lines simultaneously. No need to worry
about crashed connections. Our Phone Line Managers provide
complete privacy to each device when connected to a line.
XL Phone Line Managers
These Plug-and-Play Phone Line Managers are easy to
install. Simply connect your telephone lines and your comm-
unication devices and you’re ready to go. Phone Line
Managers XL are for both inbound and outbound phone
traffic. For information about outbound-only models, see
Product Data Sheet 20479.
XLP Phone Line Managers
These programmable Phone Line Managers provide
complete flexibility in inbound and outbound call activity.
On inbound calls, each line port can be programmed to direct
ringing to any port, or to answer the incoming call and listen
for CNG (fax) tone or DTMF tones to direct the call to any
device port. All device ports can accept incoming calls.
Each device port can be programmed to forward incoming
calls to another device port on a Ring No Answer (RNA) or
busy condition. This a great feature for modem and fax
pooling. Each device port can also be programmed to allow
outbound calling on all or selected lines in any outbound
calling sequence.

The programmable and Plug-and-Play Commercial Phone
Line Managers allow a company to use a minimal number of
telephone lines required to support the maximum number of
industry-standard telephone devices, such as modems, fax
machines, and credit-card terminals.
The Plug-and-Play Phone Line Managers (XL models) are
easy to install and let you use 12, 24, 36, or 48 industry-
standard telephone devices on 4, 8, 12, or 16 telephone lines
for incoming and outgoing call applications.
The programmable Phone Line Managers (XLP models)
allow fully customizable incoming and outgoing call capability
through programming. A standard ASCII serial terminal is all
you need for programming. A simple serial connection from
the Phone Line Manager to a PC with communications soft-
ware provides the communications link. Programming can be
performed on site or from any remote location using a
standard modem.
The Phone Line Managers meet or exceed all FCC Part 68
requirements for surge protection on the telephone lines and
provide for power-failure transfer of all telephone lines during
a power outage. The non-volatile memory ensures that the
Phone Line Manager will retain its memory during any length
of power outage.
