USING THE BLUE LINE BEAD GUIDES
1. Check your Flat Box to see if there is a hole drilled in both side plates adjacent to the skids.
If there are no pre-existing holes, drill a 5/64” (2mm) hole in each side plate (see FBBG-1).
2. Remove the F007 screws retaining the skids, then t the Bead Guide by feeding the spring
into the hole (see FBBG-2).
3. Use supplied screws (AT234) and bushes (F056) to secure (see FBBG-3).
4. Test the operation to ensure the Flat Box Bead Guides move freely.
It is recommended that the bead be hand set with chemical setting or all purpose compound rst.
External Corners
1. Place the Flat Box on the joint and drop the outside guide over the edge. Release
the brake allowing the box and handle to nd their own natural position. The interior Guide
will compress out of the way (see FBBG-4).
2. Run the Flat Box along the joint stopping about 12” from the end. Turn around and nish
in the opposite direction.
Tip: There is enough angular deection of the guide to ensure they don’t take off compound or
leave marks when doing the other side of an external.
Shadow Beads
1. If necessary, remove the tear away strips from the bead.
2. Place the Flat Box on the bead and drop the outside guide into the recess of the
Shadow Line. Release the brake allowing the box and handle to nd their own natural
position. The interior Guide will compress out of the way.
3. Run the Flat Box along the bead keeping the bead guide against the shoulder. Stop about
12” from the end. Turn around and nish in the opposite direction.
