We are pleased to say that the return rate on BODUM®product is very low;
however, should you need to process a returned BODUM®product under
warranty, please follow the simple procedure below. We have tried to make
it as simple as possible for both yourself and the end consumer.
BODUM®AUSTRALIA WARRANTY PROCEDURE
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the
Australian Consumer Law. Consumers are entitled to a replacement or
refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably
foreseeable loss or damage. Consumers are also entitled to have the
goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and
the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The benets to BODUM®customers given by the warranty set out below
are in addition to other rights and remedies under a law in relation to the
BODUM®product to which the warranty relates.
To process a faulty BODUM®product you will require a Return Authorisation
(RA) number. Returned items without a RA number are not able to be
processed for credit or replacement. Contact BODUM® on (02) 9692
0582 for a RA number.
Faulty product does not include items which have incurred wear and tear
through general home use, misuse or commercial use. Warranty does not
include accidental glass breakages.
Warranty period:

e-BODUM®: 2 year replacement warranty from the date of purchase
for electrical appliances where a defect appears and BODUM® is
notied within 2 years from date of purchase.
Proof of purchase: any claim from the end consumer must be validated
with a copy of proof of purchase; without providing a proof of purchase
BODUM®Australia will not be able to process the claim. Proof of purchase
includes original purchase receipt/docket or credit card statement showing
the purchase amount.
Replacement or credit: once claim is validated, if possible please replace
the faulty item from stock on hand. If a customer requires a replacement
for an item which you don’t have on hand, please have the item added to
your next order.
Return or work order: to ensure that the return process is as easy as
possible for both you and the end consumer, we don’t do work orders or
product repairs.
Once you have received a RA number and sighted the product please
safely dispose of the faulty item. We don’t require the faulty product to be
sent back to us. However, if you come across an unusual fault which you
think we need to be aware of please send it back to BODUM®Australia
Head Ofce.

Welcome to BODUM®
Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a
BISTRO electric hand mixer from BODUM®. Read these
instructions carefully before using the hand mixer.
IMPORTANT SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
–When using electrical appliance, basic safety
precautions should always be followed,
including the following.
–Read all the instructions carefully before
using the appliance for the first time.
Failure to observe the instructions and safe-
ty precautions may cause a hazard.
–After unpacking, check the appliance for
damage. Do not use it if you are not sure;
instead, contact your retailer.
–Keep the packaging material (cardboard,
plastic bags, etc.) out of the reach of chil-
dren (danger of asphyxiation or injury).
–This hand mixer is intended for household
use only. Do not use it outdoors.
–Do not place the appliance on or next to
hot gas or electric burners or in a heated
oven.
–The manufacturer accepts no liability for
damage or injury arising from inappropriate
or improper use. Use the appliance only for
the purpose for which it was designed.
–Close supervision is necessary if the appli-
ance is used by children or persons unfamil-
iar with it.
–This appliance is not suitable for use by
young children or infirm persons unless
closely supervised by a responsible person
who can ensure its safe use.

–Do not touch the appliance with damp or
wet hands. Do not touch the cord or plug
with wet hands.
–Do not use any accessory attachment not
recommended by the appliance manufac-
turer. This may cause fire, electric shock or
injury.
–To protect against risk of electrical shock,
never immerse the motor unit in water.
Remember that your hand mixer is an elec-
trical appliance.
–Clean the appliance using a damp cloth
only.
–Set the speed control to «0» and unplug
the cord from the wall outlet to isolate the
appliance.
–When unplugging the cord from the wall
outlet, grasp the plug, not the cord.
–Do not let the cord hang over the edge of
the table or counter or touch hot surfaces,
including the stove.
–Do not operate any appliance with a dam-
aged cord or plug, or after the appliance
malfunctions or has been damaged in any
way. Instead, take it to the nearest autho-
rised service centre for examination, repair
or adjustment.
–Never attempt to replace the cord, as spe-
cial tools are required. Repairs to or replace-
ments of the cord should be left to a service
centre authorised by the manufacturer to
ensure the safety of the appliance.
–Never immerse the cord, motor unit or plug
in water or other liquid, as this could cause
fire, electric shock or injury.
–Caution: to avoid the risk of overriding the

safety shutdown system, the appliance must
not be operated by means of an external
switch device such as a time switch, nor
should it be connected to an electrical cir-
cuit that is regularly switched on and off by
the electricity supply company.
–The appliance must remain disconnected
from the mains while it is being cleaned.
–Do not touch any rotating components or
accessories.
–Avoid contacting moving parts. Keep cloth-
ing, jewellery, hair, fingers and utensils
away from rotating components or acces-
sories to avoid serious injury to persons and
damage to the appliance.
–To avoid splashing, use a tall container or
reduce the quantity when blending liquids,
especially if they are hot.
–Check that the speed control is set to «0»
and that the appliance is isolated from the
mains before cleaning or putting it away.
–Do not let the appliance run unsupervised.
Remove beaters before washing.
–This appliance is intended to be used in
household and similar applications such as:
–staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and
other working environments;
–farm houses;
–by clients in hotels, motels and other
residential type environments;
–bed and breakfast type environments.
–Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
–If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent or similarly qualified persons in order

to avoid a hazard.
–Always disconnect the appliance from the
supply if it is left unattended and before
assembling, disassembling or cleaning.
–This appliance shall not be used by children.
Keep the appliance and its cord out of
reach of children.
–Appliances can be used by persons with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capa-
bilities or lack of experience and knowl-
edge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance
in a safe way and if they understand the
hazards involved.
–Children shall not play with the appliance.
–Do not allow children to use the blender
without supervision.
–Switch off the appliance and disconnect
from supply before changing accessories or
approaching parts that move in use.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
INSTALLATION
–Always place the appliance on a stable, horizontal sur-
face. This surface should neither be hot nor near a heat
source. The surface must be dry. Keep the appliance and
cord out of the reach of children.
–Check that the voltage indicated on the rating label of the
appliance corresponds to the local mains voltage. Connect
the appliance only to a properly earthed wall outlet with
an output rating of at least 6A. (Use a residual current
device (RCD) – please contact a qualified electrician for
advice.) The wall outlet must be easily accessible while
the appliance is in use in case of emergency. The manu-
facturer accepts no liability for accidents caused by poor
or inexistent grounding of the appliance.
– If the plug provided with the appliance is incompatible with
the wall outlet, have it changed by a qualified electrician.

SPECIAL ADVICE
MAINS CORD
– If care is taken, a mains extension cable can be used.
–If a mains extension cable is used, its electrical rating must
at least match that of the appliance. If the appliance is
earthed, the extension cable must be a three–core earthed
cable. The lengthened cable must not be allowed to hang
over the edge of the table or counter, children must
not be able to pull on it, and it must not be allowed to
present a trip hazard.
BEFORE USING THE HAND MIXER
Clean the hand mixer before using it for the first time.

ACCESSORIES
Your hand mixer comes with three accessories.
– STIRRING WANDS (3)
–The stirring wands smooth the mixture and prevent it
from forming lumps. They are also suitable for preparing
blancmanges, flans, etc. and mayonnaise.
– This attachment may draw significantly less power or current.
– DOUGH HOOKS (4a, 4b)
–The dough hooks are particularly suitable for mixing vari-
ous types of dough such as bread and yeast dough.
– The maximum rating is based on this attachment.
– WHISK (5)
–The whisk lends itself to incorporating air into a mixture,
as in the whipping of egg whites, cream, meringues and
mousses.
– This attachment may draw significantly less power or current.
For US Customers only: This appliance has a polarized plug
(one blade is wider than the other).
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully
in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact
a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.
SPEED SETTINGS
The following guide will help you select the appropriate
mixing speed.
NOTE: the consistency of the mixture is liable to change as
ingredients are added; it may be necessary to increase or
decrease the speed accordingly.
STEP 0
The appliance is switched off. Use this setting and discon-
nect the appliance from the mains when cleaning it or put-
ting it away.
STEP 1
For mixing and kneading dough.
STEP 2
For sauces and blancmange, flans, etc.
STEP 3
For a variety of baking mixtures.
STEP 4
For beating butter and sugar, biscuit doughs, cake mixes
and icing mixtures.
STEP 5
For incorporating air into mixture to make it light and
fluffy, such as mashed potatoes or eggs.

HOW TO USE YOUR HAND MIXER
INSERTING THE ACCESSORIES
–Before inserting the accessories, check that the speed
control (1) is set to position «0» and that the appliance is
disconnected from the mains.
–Insert the selected accessory into the coupling assembly
(8) while rotating it slightly until it engages.
–When inserting the dough hooks (4a, 4b), check that they
are correctly positioned in the coupling assembly (8): the
left dough hook (4a) will only fit in the left–hand aper-
ture (which has a visible step in it). The right dough hook
(4b) will only fit in the right–hand aperture (which has no step
in it).
–The two stirring wands (3) and the whisk (5) fit either
aperture of the coupling assembly (8).
RELEASING THE CORD
–Using one hand to hold the mixer by its handle (11), use
the other hand to pull the cord and mains plug from the
cord compartment (6). Take care not to damage the cord
as you do so.
CONNECTING TO THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY
–Accessories must always be fitted to the hand mixer
before it is connected to the mains.
–Before connecting the hand mixer to the mains, check
that the speed control (1) is set to position «0».
USING THE MIXER
IMPORTANT: to prevent overheating of the motor, switch
off the mixer after four minutes continuous operation and
wait two minutes before continuing.
–Place the ingredients in a bowl. Ensure that the accesso-
ries do not touch the base or sides of bowls made of glass
or porcelain.
–Immerse the accessories in the mixture and select the
appropriate speed setting (1). See the SPEED SETTINGS
section.
–To avoid splashing, keep the accessories immersed in the
mixture while mixing.
–When you have finished mixing, set the speed control (1)
to «0» and disconnect the mixer from the mains.
–When you have finished using the mixer, place it on the
rest (9) with its four non–slip silicon feet.
REMOVING THE ACCESSORIES
–Before removing the accessories, set the speed control (1)
to «0» and disconnect the mixer from the mains.
–Press the accessory release button (2) to release the acces-
sories. Hold the accessories by the shaft when doing so.
–Note: to safeguard your safety, the accessories can be
released only if the speed control (1) is set to «0».

STOWING THE CORD
–The cord should be stowed back in the cord compartment
(6) when you have finished using the mixer.
– Swing out the crank (7).
–Using one hand to hold the mixer by its handle (11), use
the other hand to turn the crank (7) until the cord is
stowed back in the cord compartment (6).
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
–Disconnect the hand mixer from the mains before cleaning it.
– Do not use abrasive cleaners.
CLEANING THE ACCESSORIES
–Remove surplus mixture from the accessories using a
rubber or plastic spatula.
–The accessories can be washed by hand; they are also dish-
washer proof.
– Any other servicing should be performed by an autho–
rized servicing representative.
CLEANING THE BODY
– Use a damp cloth only to clean the exterior surfaces of the mixer.
–Never immerse the motor unit, mains plug or cord in
water: remember that this is an electrical appliance.
STORING THE HAND MIXER
–The cord should always be stored in the cord compartment (6).
–Always store the hand mixer with the accessories removed.
– Place the mixer on its rest (9) when not using it.
–Note: always keep the hand mixer disconnected from the
mains when not using it.

den Handmixer benutzen.

–Sollten Kinder bzw. Personen, die damit
nicht vertraut sind, das Gerät verwenden, ist
eine genaue Beaufsichtigung erforderlich.
–Dieses Gerät ist für die Verwendung durch
kleine Kinder oder gebrechliche Personen
nicht geeignet, es sei denn, eine verant-
wortliche Person beaufsichtigt dies und
sorgt für einen sicheren Gebrauch des
Geräts.
–Berühren Sie das Gerät nie mit feuchten
oder nassen Händen. Berühren Sie auch das
Netzkabel oder den Stecker nicht mit nas-
sen Händen.
–Verwenden Sie kein Zubehör, das nicht vom

–Tauchen Sie das Motorgehäuse nie in

INSTALLATION
–Stellen Sie das Gerät stets auf eine stabile, ebene Fläche.
Diese darf weder heiss sein noch sich in der Nähe einer
Hitzequelle befinden. Die Oberfläche muss trocken sein.
Bewahren Sie das Gerät und das Netzkabel ausserhalb der
Reichweite von Kindern auf.
–Überprüfen Sie, ob die auf dem Typenschild des Geräts
angegebene Spannung mit der Netzspannung in Ihrer
Region übereinstimmt. Schliessen Sie das Gerät nur
an eine ordnungsgemäss geerdete Steckdose mit einer
Ausgangsleistung von mindestens 6A an. (Verwenden
Sie einen Fehlerstromschutzschalter (RCD), fragen Sie
einen Elektriker um Rat.) Während der Verwendung des
Geräts muss die Steckdose im Notfall gut zugänglich sein.
Für Unfälle, die durch eine mangelhafte oder fehlende
Erdung des Geräts verursacht werden, übernimmt der
Hersteller keine Haftung.
–Ist die Steckdose für den Stecker Ihres Geräts nicht gee-
ignet, lassen Sie sie durch einen geprüften Elektriker aus-
tauschen.

BESONDERE HINWEISE
NETZKABEL
–Nach Einhaltung entsprechender Vorsichtsmassnahmen
kann ein Verlängerungskabel verwendet werden.
–Bei Verwendung eines Verlängerungskabels müssen
dieangegebenelektrischenNennwertedesVerlängerungs–
kabels mindestens denen des Geräts entsprechen. Ist das
Gerät geerdet, muss das Verlängerungskabel ein dreiad-
riges, geerdetes Kabel sein. Das längere Kabel ist so zu
verlegen, dass es nicht über die Tischkante oder den Rand
der Arbeitsplatte hängt, Kinder nicht daran ziehen können
und man nicht darüber stolpern kann.
VOR GEBRAUCH DES HAND MIXERS
Reinigen Sie den Handmixer vor dem ersten Gebrauch.

AUFSÄTZE
Ihr Handmixer ist mit drei verschiedenen Aufsätzen aus-
gestattet.
– RÜHRQUIRL (3)
–Der Rührquirl verfeinert die Masse und verhindert, dass
sich darin Klumpen bilden. Er eignet sich etwa für die
Zubereitung von Pudding oder Mayonnaise.
– KNETHAKEN (4a,4b)
–Die Knethaken eignen sich besonders für verschiedene
Teigsorten, wie zum Beispiel Brotteig oder Hefeteig.
– SCHWINGBESEN (5)
–Der Schwingbesen eignet sich für luftige Massen wie etwa

zum Aufschlagen von Eiweiss, Sahne, Meringues und
Mousse.
GESCHWINDIKEITSEINSTELLUNGEN
Bitte stellen Sie die Mixgeschwindigkeit nach folgender
Anleitung ein:
TIPP: Die Konsistenz der Masse kann sich ändern, sobald
man Zutaten hinzufügt. Dementsprechend empfiehlt sich
möglicherweise eine höhere oder niedrigere Stufe.
STUFE 0
In dieser Position ist das Gerät ausgeschaltet. Für die
Reinigung oder Aufbewahrung immer in die 0–Position
stellen und den Netzstecker ziehen.
STUFE 1
Zum Kneten und Mixen von Teig.
STUFE 2
Für Saucen und Pudding.
STUFE 3
Für die Zubereitung diverser Backmischungen.
STUFE 4
Zum Schlagen von Butter und Zucker, Biskuitteig,
Kuchenmischungen und Zuckerguss.
STUFE 5
Zum Schlagen leichter und luftiger Massen wie etwa von
Kartoffelbrei und Eiern.
