IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
BEFORE USING THE INSTANT CAPPUCCINO

• Do not open the water tank cap when the machine is switched on. Instant Cappuccino uses a
pressurised boiler to make drinks. Hot steam, which can cause burns, will be released if the
water cap is opened.
• If you need to open the cap when the machine is hot, please follow the Steam Release
Procedure on page 9.
•Instant Cappuccino uses milk to make drinks, it is therefore important to clean after use. Milk left
in the unit will harden and clog the machine.
• The Instant Cappuccino is fitted with a safety device, which will turn the machine off if it is left
switched on for more than 2 hours.
• Always return the dial control to the STOP position when finished making cappuccino.

INTRODUCTION
1. Remove the Instant Cappuccino carefully from the box. You may wish to store the packaging for
future use.
2. Check the contents:
• Instant Cappuccino maker
•Milk tank
•Cleaning jug
3. Position the Instant Cappuccino on a stable flat surface, close to a mains power socket and out
of the reach of children. The Instant Cappuccino produces steam, so avoid areas under
cupboards or other furniture/decorations that may be damaged.
INITIAL CLEANING
To ensure that residue left by the manufacturing process is removed, flush the machine with clean
water as described in the following procedure:
1. Wash the milk tank in warm soapy water,
rinse and dry.
2. Lift the coffee chamber lid and remove the
coffee dispenser, wash all parts in warm
soapy water, rinse and dry.
3. Reassemble the coffee dispenser, following
the diagrams and place back into
the machine. (figure A)
4. Remove the water tank cap and using the
measuring guide on the cleaning jug,
pour 300ml of clean water into the water
tank. (figure B)
5. Replace and tighten the water tank cap.
6. Ensure that the control dial is in the
STOP position
7. Fill the milk tank with clean water up to the
8cup mark and place on the unit. Ensure
that the tank is pushed fully back on the
unit. (figure C)

NOTE:
Do not attempt to fit or remove the milk tank without ensuring the control dial is turned to the
STOP position. Failure to do so may be result in damage to the milk pipe.
8. Place the cleaning jug under the
cappuccino nozzle. (figure D)
9. Plug the unit into the mains and switch on.
Press the power on/off button.
The blue power indicator will light. After
approximately 5 minutes the red light
around the on/off button will illuminate to
indicate that it is ready.
10. To start cleaning turn the control dial
anticlockwise to the CLEAN/GO! setting.

11. Clean water is flushed through the machine
into the cleaning jug.
12. When all of the water from the milk tank has
flushed through, turn the control dial
clockwise to the STOP position. A small
amount of water will continue to be
dispensed. (figure F)
13. Remove and empty the cleaning jug.
Your cappuccino maker is now clean
and ready for use.

1. The maximum capacity is 300ml. If the water
tank has already been filled there should be
enough water in the machine to make
approximately 10 cups of cappuccino.
2. Plug the unit into the mains and press the
power on/off button on the front of the unit
(figure A).The blue power on indicator will
illuminate.
3. Lift the coffee chamber lid and make sure
that the coffee dispenser is in place.
4. Pour instant coffee granules into the coffee
dispenser. (figure B)

TIP:
For ease of use it is recommended that only the
desired amount of coffee is put into the coffee
chamber. [see point 8]
5. Fill the milk tank with milk up to the level
required (number of mugs/cups).
DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM LEVEL.
More milk can easily be added if you wish to
make more drinks. (figure C)
6. Place the milk tank on the unit. Ensure that
the tank is pushed fully back on the unit.
7. Wait for the red ready indicator to illuminate.
8. To select the coffee strength turn the control
dial to the COFFEE SHOT position and back
to the STOP position. (figure D)
1Turn = 1 teaspoon
2 Turns = 2 teaspoons
3 Turns = 3 teaspoons etc
The maximum number of teaspoons that will fit
in the coffee chamber at any one time is
approximately 10.
9. Place a mug or cup under the cappuccino
nozzle and turn the control dial to the
CLEAN/GO! position. The machine will start
to dispense the cappuccino. (figure E)
10. When the mug or cup is nearly full turn the
control dial to the STOP position.
A small amount of cappuccino will continue
to be dispensed as the machine finishes
its cycle. When the mug or cup is nearly full
turn the control dial to the STOP position
(12 o'clock). Ensure you have allowed this
process to occur after each cappuccino
made. (figure F)
11. To make further cups of cappuccino repeat
steps 7 to 10.
The red ready indicator will go on and off as the
machine brings itself back up to temperature.
It is perfectly normal for this to happen whilst
making a cappuccino.
After you have completed making all the
required cappuccinos. Please clean the
machine following the guidelines on page 7.

When you have finished making cappuccino the remaining instant coffee granules must be removed
from the machine. Any coffee left in the machine will get damp and solidify.
If the machine is not already on - plug the unit into the mains and switch on. Press the power on/off
button.
The blue power indicator will light. After approximately 5 minutes the red light around the on/off
button will illuminate to indicate that it is ready.
1. Push the orange slide cover shut so that
remaining coffee granules are contained.
(figure A)
2. Remove the dispenser and put the
remaining coffee back in the jar. (figure B)
3. Turn the control dial to the COFFEE SHOT
position and back to the STOP position
twice to remove any coffee granules left in
the system. This process will ensure that all
the coffee granules are removed from the
coffee chamber. (figure C)
4. Wash all parts of the coffee dispenser in
warm soapy water.Place the clean
and dry coffee dispenser back into the
machine. Please see diagrams on
page 3 to reassemble.
If any coffee granules are left in the machine
for a long period of time they may damage
the internal mechanism.

1. Switch the machine off by pressing the
power on/off button. (figure A)
2. Switch off at the mains supply and remove
the plug from the mains socket.
3. Remove the milk tank from the machine.
(figure B)
4. Turn the control dial to CLEAN/GO! The
pressurized steam will be released from the
nozzle. There will be a large amount of
steam that will continue to be released for a
minute or so.
(figure C)
5. When the steam release has finished very
carefully remove the water tank cap - there
may still be a small amount of steam left in
the water tank so loosen the cap slowly and
let any steam escape before removing
completely. (figure D)
6. Return control dial to the STOP position
6. Place the cleaning jug under the
cappuccino nozzle. (figure D)
7. Empty any remaining milk from the milk tank
and add clean water up to the 4 cup mark.
Place on the unit ensuring the tank is
pushed fully back on the unit.
8. To start cleaning turn the control dial
anticlockwise to the CLEAN/GO! setting.

9. Clean water is flushed through the machine
into the cleaning jug.
10. When all of the water from the milk tank has
flushed through, turn the control dial
clockwise to the STOP position. A small
amount of water will continue to be
dispensed. (figure F)
11. Remove and empty the cleaning jug.
Your Instant Cappuccino is now clean.
If you want to empty the water tank please
follow the steam release procedure.
NOTE:
If the machine has not been used for a long
time, or it is excessively dirty, we recommend
that bicarbonate of soda is mixed with the
water at step 7 to assist the cleaning process.
If bicarbonate of soda has been used, flush
the system again with clean water to remove
any residue.
IMPORTANT:
Never remove the water tank cap while the machine is switched on and without first performing the
steam release procedure. Large amounts of steam will be released which can cause burns.
If you are at all concerned about performing the steam release procedure switch the machine off and
wait for it to cool completely.

Do not immerse the unit, power cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
Make sure that the unit is switched off and disconnected from the mains supply before cleaning.
Do not use harsh abrasive chemicals or oven cleaners.
The following parts can be washed in a dishwasher if desired:
1. Coffee dispenser.
2. Dispensing nozzle.
3. Milk tank.
4. Cleaning jug.
5. Drip tray.
6. Cleaning tray
CLEANING TRAY (figure A)
The Instant Cappuccino maker has a cleaning
tray that slides into the rear of the machine. It is
designed to catch small quantities of coffee
granules and drips of water and milk. Remove
and clean this tray in warm soapy water.
DRIP TRAY (figure B)
1. The sides of the drip tray have tabs, lift
these to remove the drip tray and cover.
2. Lift the cover from the drip tray and wash
both parts in warm soapy water.
3. Dry and replace back in the Instant
Cappuccino before next use.

DISPENSING NOZZLE (figure C)
It is advisable to periodically remove the
nozzle so that it can be soaked and
cleaned thoroughly.
IMPORTANT:
Allow the unit to cool completely before
removing the dispensing nozzle.
1. Simply pull the nozzle towards you from
the machine.
2. Wash in warm soapy water, rinse and dry.
3. Push the nozzle back onto the dispensing
pipe, making sure that the outlet
points downwards.
MILK PIPE (figure D)
With the control dial in the CLEAN/GO! position
wipe the milk pipe clean with a damp cloth.
COFFEE CHAMBER (figure E)
Any granules that have not been removed by
the cleaning process use a dry cloth to dislodge
the granules and wipe the camber clean.
MAIN UNIT (figure F)
1. Wipe the outside of the unit with a
damp soapy cloth then wipe dry with
adry soft cloth.
2. If the Instant Cappuccino is not going to be
used for a period of time the water tank can
be emptied. Ensure the machine is turned
off and unplugged and has been allowed to
cool before commencing. Remove all loose
parts. Empty any remaining water by tipping
upside down over a sink.

If you are having trouble with the Instant Cappuccino please check the following:
Problem Possible Causes and Corrective Action
1. Blue power on light does
not come on.
1. Make sure that the unit is plugged into the mains supply.
2. Press the power on/off button on the front of the unit.
3. Check the fuse in the mains plug.
2. The red ready light
around the on/off button
does not come on.
1. The unit has not reached operating temperature yet.
This takes approximately 5 minutes.
2. The unit does not have any power,see above.
3. Cappuccino has very little
or no coffee in when
made.
1. Make sure there is coffee in the dispenser.
2. Check to see if coffee is stuck in the funnel or coffee
dispenser. See problem 8 and 9.
3. Make sure that you turn the control dial fully to the COFFEE
SHOT position and back to the STOP position every time it
is used.
4. The machine stops while
dispensing cappuccino.
1. The milk tank has run dry. Move the control dial to the
STOP position and refill the tank.
2. The water tank has run dry. Follow the steam release procedure
on page 9 then pour 300ml of clean water into
the tank. Switch back on, allow the unit to reach operating
temperature then continue to dispense cappuccino.
3. Power has failed. Check supply/fuse.
5. The cappuccino is not
very warm.
1. Allow the unit to reach full operating temperature before
making each cup. This is important if making a large number
of cups. The red ready light will come on when the machine
is at operating temperature.
6. The machine makes a
loud noise and creates
alot of steam while
dispensing cappuccino.
1. The milk tank has run dry. Move the control dial to the STOP
position and refill the tank.
7. There are pieces of
dark coloured skin in
the cappuccino.
1. The system needs to be cleaned. Follow the cleaning
procedure on page 7 and instead of flushing with clean
water use warm water with bicarbonate of soda, or if this
does not work, washing up detergent. After this flush the
system a minimum of four times with clean water to remove
the detergent.
Problem Possible Causes and Corrective Action
8. The machine was not
cleaned properly after
last use.
1. Flush the system with detergent as described in problem 7.
2. If coffee was left in the machine carry out the procedure
in step 9.
9. Coffee was left in the
coffee dispenser and
the internal mechanism
and it has solidified.
1. Remove the funnel and if necessary break up the coffee by
gently prodding with a narrow blade such as the handle of a
teaspoon. Turn the control dial to the COFFEE SHOT position
and back to the STOP position twice. If coffee has solidified
in the mechanism you may need to apply slightly more force
than normal. Flush the machine with clean water Slide the
cover shut and lift the funnel from the machine. Wash and
dry thoroughly.
10. The machine makes
excessive noise when
the control dial is initially
turned to the
CLEAN/GO! position
and dispenses
very strong coffee.
1. There may have been some air in the machine. This occurs
occasionally. The machine will automatically clear in a few
seconds and cappuccino will dispense normally.
11. Cappuccino may
continue to dispense
for a few seconds after
the control dial has
been moved to the
STOP position.
1. A small amount of cappuccino will continue to be dispensed
as the machine finishes its cycle. Please make allowances
for this when filling your cup.
12. Milk drips from the pipe
after the control dial
has been turned to the
STOP position.
1. This is the residual milk left in the pipe that has not been
drawn into the machine when the STOP was selected.
13. Steam escapes from the
water tank cap. 1. Make sure that the water tank cap is fully tightened.
14. The machines switches
itself off.
1. The machine has a safety device that switches the machine off
after approximately 2 hours. Press the power on/off button to
switch the machine on again.
15. The red ready indicator
keeps coming on and
going off.
1. The machine is fitted with a thermostat to maintain the
temperature. It is perfectly normal for the light to go on and off
whilst the machine is in use.
16. Coffee granules are
sticking to the inside of
the internal mechanism.
1. This can occasionally happen if excess steam is present, e.g.
making lots of coffee in a short time. Remove the stuck
granules. Allow to dry fully before using again.

• Cocoa powder for dusting
METHOD
1. Place a cup on the Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE twice to add two
shots/teaspoons of coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
4. Dust with cocoa powder to serve.
Repeat method for each cappuccino.
CAFÉ MOCHA
INGREDIENTS
•3heaped tsp of chocolate powder placed
directly into each cup
• Instant coffee - fill coffee chamber
•Milk - fill to required mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank
• Chocolate shavings to decorate
METHOD
1. Place the chocolate into a cup and place on
the Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE once to add one
shot/teaspoon of instant coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
4. Stir thoroughly.
5. Sprinkle topping with chocolate shavings.
Repeat method for each café mocha.
MILK - It is possible to use fresh or long life milk and a variety of different types, skimmed, semi-
skimmed and whole. It is also possible to mix milk and water with a ratio of 50:50. The ratio of milk to
water will depend on each individual so experiment to find your own personal preference
INSTANT COFFEE - This machine will use your favourite brand and variety of instant coffee granules.
Following are some recipes you may like to try with your Instant Cappuccino:
HOT CHOCOLATE
INGREDIENTS
•3heaped tsp of chocolate powder placed
directly into each cup OR
•150g finely grated good quality chocolate placed
directly into each cup
•Milk - fill to required mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank
•Mini Marshmallows to decorate
METHOD
1. Place the chocolate into a cup and place on the
Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
3. Stir thoroughly.
4. Add mini marshmallows.
Repeat method for each hot chocolate.
CAFÉ LATTE
INGREDIENTS
•Instant coffee – fill coffee chamber
•Milk - fill to required mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank.
METHOD
1. Place a cup on the Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE once and add one
shot/teaspoon of instant coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
Repeat method for each café latte.
MALTED DRINKS
INGREDIENTS
•3-4 heaped tsp of instant malted drink placed
directly into each cup
•Milk - fill to required mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank.
METHOD
1. Place the malted drink into a cup and place on
the Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
3. Stir thoroughly.
Repeat method for each malted drink.
BLACK COFFEE
INGREDIENTS
•Instant coffee – fill coffee chamber
•Water - fill to required mug/cup level indicated
on milk tank
METHOD
1. Place a cup on the Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE twice to add two
shots/teaspoons of instant coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
Repeat method for each black coffee.
CINNAMON AND VANILLA COFFEE
INGREDIENTS
•1/4 tsp of cinnamon placed directly into
each cup
•2 tsp vanilla flavouring placed directly into each
cup
•Instant coffee – fill coffee chamber
•Milk - fill to required mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank.
METHOD
1. Place cinnamon and vanilla into a cup,
stir well and place on the Instant
Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE twice and add two
shots/teaspoons of instant coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
4. Stir and sprinkle topping with cinnamon
if desired.
Repeat the method for each cinnamon and vanilla
coffee.
IRISH CAPPUCCINO
INGREDIENTS
• 4 tsp whiskey placed directly into each cup
• Instant coffee – fill coffee chamber
•Milk - fill to mug/cup level indicated on
milk tank
METHOD
1. Place whiskey into a cup and place on the
Instant Cappuccino tray.
2. Turn the dial to COFFEE twice to add two
shots/teaspoons of instant coffee.
3. Turn the dial to GO! until the cup is full.
Repeat the method for each Irish cappuccino.
TIP: To achieve a whiter frothy topped cappuccino, add a shot of milk to the cup
before adding the coffee shots.
TIP: Depending on how weak or strong you like your coffee increase or decrease
the number of coffee shots/teaspoons per cup.

✔Always ensure hands are dry before
handling the plug or switching on

malfunction, or if it has been damaged in any
manner to the Customer Service Department

✘Never use this appliance outdoors.
✘Never use this appliance for other than the
intended use. This appliance is for
household use only.
✘Never immerse any part of the appliance,
cord set or plug in water or any other liquid

cleaners to clean this appliance.
✘Never allow children to use this appliance.
Close supervision is necessary when the
appliance is near children.
✘Never leave the appliance unattended
when in use.
✘Never release the water tank cap while
in use. Perform the steam release
procedure or allow to cool fully.
✘Never leave unused coffee in the chute.
✘Never let the cable hang over the edge
of the work top, touch hot surfaces or
become knotted.
✘Never place this appliance on or near a hot
gas or electric burner or where it could touch
aheated oven or microwave oven.

damaged cable or plug or after an
appliance malfunction or if it has been

✘Never keep the appliance in an
environment below 0oC. Water in the
unit will freeze and cause damage.
✘Never use the appliance without the
drip tray in place.
✘Never use any attachment or accessory
not supplied with the appliance or
not recommended by the
appliance manufacturer.
✘Never place anything other than
mugs/cups for warming on top of the
cappuccino machine.
✘Never fill the water tank with any liquid other
than water.
✘Never use powdered, ground or any coffee
other than instant coffee granules.
CAUTION!
This appliance generates heat during use.
Proper precautions must be taken to prevent the
risk of burns, scalds, fires or other damage to
persons or property, caused by touching the
exterior, whilst in use or during cooling.

WHEN USING ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD
ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED.
If this appliance is fitted with a rewirable BS1363/A, 13 amp plug, the fuse should be rated at 13
amps and be ASTA approved to BS1362. However, if the plug is unsuitable, it should be dismantled
and removed from the supply cord and an appropriate plug fitted as detailed below.
If this appliance is fitted with a moulded BS1363/A 13 amp plug, the fuse should be rated at 13 amps
and be ASTA approved to BS1362. If the fuse in a non-rewirable plug needs to be changed, the fuse
cover must be refitted. The appliance must not be used without the fuse cover fitted.
In the event of the plug being unsuitable, it should be changed and an appropriate plug fitted as
detailed below. If you remove the plug it must not be connected to a 13 amp socket and the plug
must be disposed of immediately.
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wires of the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
BLUE = NEUTRAL, BROWN = LIVE,
GREEN/YELLOW - EARTH
The wire which is coloured GREEN and
YELLOW must be connected to the terminal
in your plug which is marked with either the
letter Eor with the earth symbol, .
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be
connected to the terminal in your plug which
is marked with the letter Nor coloured
BLACK.

This guarantee is subject to the following provisions:
•This product is guaranteed for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase against mechanical
and electrical defects
•This guarantee is only valid if the appliance is used solely for domestic purposes in accordance
with the instructions provided, that it is not connected to an unsuitable electricity supply,
dismantled or interfered with in any way or damaged through mis-use. Under this guarantee we
undertake to repair or replace free of charge any parts found to be defective.
•Nothing in this guarantee or the instructions relating to the product excludes, restricts or otherwise
affects your statutory rights.
•In line with our policy of continuous development, we reserve the right to change this product,
packaging and documentation without notice.
This product is manufactured to comply with the radio interference requirements of EEC Directive
93/68 EEC.
These appliances are built to the very highest standards. There are no userserviceable parts. Follow
these steps if the unit fails to operate:
1. Check that the instructions have been followed correctly.
2. Check that fuse has not blown.
3. Check mains supply is functional.
If the appliance will still not operate, return it to the place it was purchased for a replacement. To
return the appliance to Bush Customer Service Department, follow the steps below:
1. Pack it carefully, preferably in the
original carton.
2. Enclose your name and address and quote the product reference number CM8 on all
correspondence.
3. Give the reason why you are returning it.
4. If within the guarantee period, state when and where it was purchased and include proof of
purchase (eg till receipt).
5. Send it to our Customer Service Department at the address below:
They will give you up to date prices, inclusive of VAT and Postage & Packaging.
You may then: Send a cheque or postal order for the correct amount, made payable to Pulse Home
Products Ltd, with one of the order forms printed below (or a copy) to our Customer Service
