IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed
including the following:
• Read all instructions.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord,
plugs, base or kettle in water or other liquid.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. Close supervision is necessary
when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use, no water in kettle, filling kettle with water,
moving kettle, and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking o
parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance
malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Call our toll-free Customer
Assistance Number for examination, repair or adjustment.
• Do not use a base unit other than the one supplied. The use of accessory
attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire,
electric shock or injury to persons.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Always
store excess portion of the power cord in the compartment of the base unit.
• Electric kettle must be operated on a flat surface. Do not place on or near a hot gas
or electric burner, or in a heated oven, or on the top of other electric appliances.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To
disconnect, turn control to o, then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for any purpose other than intended use.
• To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the
same circuit.
• Do not fill kettle when positioned on base. Remove all moisture on the bottom of
the body before placing it onto the power base.
• Be aware of steam being emitted from spout or lid especially during refilling. Do
not remove lid during boiling cycle.
• Do not use the kettle to heat anything other than water. Do not fill above the
‘’max’’ indication. Do not operate kettle if water is below minimum marking. If the
kettle is overlled, boiling water may be ejected. The kettle is only to use with the
base unit provided.
• Do not insert any object into slots or holes of the kettle.
• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the boiling cycles.

• If the supplied cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service agent, or a similarly qualied person in order to avoid hazard.
• The appliance can be used by children ages 8 years and older and persons with
reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack the experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use
of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and
user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and
supervised.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years old.
• Ensure the removable power cord is fully connected to the base before plugging
it into an outlet.
• WARNING: Do not remove the lid while water is boiling

EXTENSION CORDS
A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or
extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a
longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as
great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and
2) The extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top
or tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally
(especially by children).
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded while in use.
CAUTION: To ensure continued protection against risk of electric shock, connect to
properly grounded outlets only.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
In North American markets the appliance has a plug that looks like Figure A. Kettles sold
outside of North America include removable power cords for use with electrical outlets
in those markets. DO NOT attempt to insert a power cord into an incompatible
outlet. Appliance damage, electrical system damage or physical harm may result. An
adaptor, as shown in Figure B, should be used for connecting a 3-prong grounding
plug to a 2-wire receptacle. The grounding tab, which extends from the adaptor, must
be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded receptacle as
shown in Figure C, using a metal screw.
Warning: This appliance utilizes a high wattage relay for arriving at the desired water
temperature. In some instances, this relay may cause slight ickering of lights on the
same circuit. It is best to use this appliance on a dedicated circuit or with all other
appliances o during this appliance’s use. It will not damage electrical systems but
caution should be used to not overload this circuit with other appliances running at
the same time.

Note: Before plugging the kettle into the wall outlet, check that the electrical circuit is not
overloaded with other appliances.
1) Setting Up the Kettle:
• Set the base (7) on a flat, steady surface.
• Insert female end of the removable power cord into the
base (7) rmly.
• Plug the power cord (20) into a grounded wall outlet
(illustration A). The base will beep twice and the Power
icon (12) will be visible.
2) Preparing the Kettle for First Time Use:
• Remove the kettle from its base (7), and remove lid (2) from
the kettle.
• Fill the kettle to the “Max” ll line (5) with cold water
(approx. 1.2L) (illustration B).
• Replace the lid (2) with vent holes (3) facing away from the
handle (illustration C).
• Place the kettle back on its base (7).
• Press the Power icon (12) (illustration D).
◦All icons will be visible on the base if the kettle is
present.
◦If kettle is not on the base (7) , then the timer will be
visible (See timer section on page 11 of this manual).
• Press the Smart Boil icon (13).
• Bring water to a boil, then empty the kettle.
• Allow the appliance to cool down for 1 minute.
• Repeat boil and rinse procedure twice before using your
Brewista kettle.
3) Normal Use:
• Remove the kettle from its base (7), and remove lid (2) from kettle.
• Fill the kettle to desired level above the“Min”ll line and below the“Max”ll line (5)
with water (illustration B).
• Replace the lid (2) with vent holes (3) facing away from the handle (4)
(illustration C).
• Place the kettle back on its base (7).
• Press the Power icon (12) once to turn on the kettle, then press the Power icon again
(illustration D).
◦The Power icon (12) and the Target Temperature (9) will ash for 3 seconds.
◦During that 3 second interval, press the [ + ] or [ - ] icons [(19) or (18)] if needed
to change the Target Temperature.
• The kettle will heat the water to the Target Temperature, displaying Actual Water
Temperature (11) on the right side of the LCD Readout (10).
• You will hear 3 beeps when the Target Temperature is reached.
• Thekettle’s KeepWarmfunctionwillautomatically maintain the desiredtemperature

◦The LCD Readout (10) will continue to show the actual water temperature.
◦Once the Keep Warm cycle is complete, the LCD Readout will show the actual
water temperature for the next 10 minutes of inactivity before the base
enters Sleep Mode.
• To stop the heating cycle, press the Power icon (12) again or lift the kettle from its
base.
• After 10 minutes of inactivity, the base will enter Sleep Mode.
4) Selecting the Temperature Display, Fahrenheit or Celsius:
• When the base (7) is powered on and the kettle is on the base, press and hold the
Temperature Setting icon (17) for 3 seconds to access the temperature unit setting.
◦Press the [ + ] or [ - ] icons [(19) or (18)] to toggle between Fahrenheit and
Celsius.
◦After 3 seconds of inactivity, the last selected unit of measurement will be
stored, even if the base is unplugged.
◦For USA and Canada models, the default temperature unit for your Brewista
Variable Temperature Kettle is Fahrenheit (°F). For models in the rest of the
world, the default temperature unit is Celsius (°C).
5) Setting the Temperature
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ: At higher altitudes, water boils at lower temperatures.
Refer to the chart on page 13 of this manual that lists the approximate boiling temperature
for various elevations.
Brewista kettles use proprietary adaptive safety software that monitors the temperature
at which water reaches a boil. Once the boiling temperature has been determined
by the kettle, it will not exceed that temperature. When this function is activated,
manually selected and preset temperature readings higher than the determined boiling
temperature will be replaced with the word “boil” on the LCD readout. Refer to page 13
for instructions to disable this software.
Unplugging the base will reset the boiling temperature. Once the kettle is plugged in and
set to boil, the adaptive monitoring process begins again, and the maximum temperature
will be adjusted to the boiling point for the elevation at which the kettle is being used.

• Selecting a Preset Temperature:
◦Press the Temperature Setting icon (17). The Target Temperature reading (9)
will ash. Press the Temperature Setting icon again to toggle through the
preset temperatures (see below):

-The factory preset temperatures are: 60 °C (140 °F), 80 °C (176 °F), 85 °C
(185 °F), 96 °C (205 °F) and 98 °C (208 °F).
-The factory default temperature is 96 °C (205 °F)
◦Press Power icon (12) to begin the heating cycle.
◦When the set temperature is reached, three audible beeps are heard.
• Manually Setting the Desired Temperature:
◦Press the Temperature Setting icon (17). The Target Temperature reading (9)
will ash.
◦Press the [ + ] icon (19) or [ - ] icon (18) to change the Target Temperature by
one degree.
◦Press and hold the [ + ] icon (19) or [ - ] icon (18) to change the Target
Temperature rapidly.
-The kettle’s temperature range is 60 °C - 98 °C (140 °F - 208 °F)
◦Once you have reached your desired temperature, wait 3 seconds and the
Target Temperature will be stored.
Notes:
• To manually interrupt the heating process, press the Power icon (12) or remove the
kettle from the base at any time.
• Once the temperature has been set, it is stored in memory and will be recalled the
next time the kettle is turned on. The factory default temperature of 96 °C (205 °F)
will no longer be active after a dierent temperature is set.
• During the heating cycle, the LCD Readout (10) will display current water
temperature. The LCD Readout will continue to show the water temperature for
one hour after the heating cycle has completed if the kettle is not removed from
the base.
• If the kettle is removed from the base during the heating cycle, the heating cycle
will turn o, the Power icon (12) indicator light will remain on, and the LCD will
display “00:00”. When the kettle is returned to the base, the display will show the
current water temperature for 1 hour.
• To resume the heating cycle and/or keep warm function, the user must press the
corresponding icons once the kettle is returned to the base.
6) Smart Boil Function
• Press the Smart Boil icon (13). The icon will ash and the LCD Readout will display
the Actual Temperature (11) on the right and the word“boil”in the upper left.
• The Smart Boil function brings the water to boiling temperature as quickly as
possible.
• Once the kettle’s water has reached boiling temperature (varies based on your
altitude), you will hear 3 beeps and the Smart Boil function will stop.
• The Actual Temperature (11) inside the kettle will be displayed for 10 minutes
before the kettle enters Sleep Mode.
• To stop the Smart Boil function, press the Smart Boil icon (13) or Power icon (12) at
anytime during the cycle.
• You may also enter the Smart Boil function during a normal heating process by
pressing the Smart Boil icon (13).

7) Program for Automatic Use (Auto Brew Function)
• Note: The Auto Brew time is the time at which the automatic heating cycle will be
complete.
• To program your Auto Brew function:
◦Press and hold the Auto Brew icon (16) for 3 seconds. The TargetTemperature
will ash on the right side of the LCD Readout (10).
◦Press the [ + ] icon (19), [ – ] icon (18) to select or set the desired Auto Brew
temperature.
◦Set the Auto Brew time:
-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again. The Auto Brew time will display on
the right side of the LCD Readout (10), with the hour digit(s) ashing.
-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the hour portion of
the Auto Brew time.
-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again and the minutes portion of the
Auto Brew time will ash.
-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the minutes portion
of the Auto Brew time.
◦Set the Current Time:
-After setting the Auto Brew Time (see above), press the Auto Brew icon
(15), the hour of the current time will ash on the left side of the LCD
readout.
-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the hour portion of
the current time.
-Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again and the minutes portion of the
current time will ash.
-Press the [ + ] or [ – ] icons [(19) or (18)] to change the minutes portion
of the current time.
◦Once the Auto Brew Time and current time are correct, wait for 3 seconds for
these times to be stored.
◦To activate the Auto Brew function, press the Auto Brew icon (16) one time.
The Auto Brew icon will light up and the Auto Brew symbol will appear on the
lower right of the LCD Readout (10).
• 8 minutes prior to the programmed Auto Brew time, your kettle will turn on.
• Once the Target Temperature has been reached, 3 audible beeps are heard. The
kettle will then enter the Keep Warm function for the next 60 minutes, unless any
icon is pressed or the kettle is lifted from the base.
• To cancel the Auto Brew function,
◦Press the Power icon (12) at any time
◦Press the Auto Brew icon (16) before the heating cycle has begun.
Notes:
• The Auto Brew icon (16) must be pressed to activate the function after being set.
The Auto Brew icon is illuminated and the LCD Readout (10) displays the Auto Brew
icon in the lower left.
• Press the Auto Brew icon (16) again before the program starts to cancel the
Auto-start function.
• When the programmed Auto Brew time is reached, the heating process will
be complete.
• If the Auto Brew time and current time are less than eight (8) minutes apart, the
kettle will begin heating immediately.

• To manually interrupt the heating process, press the Power icon (12) or remove the
kettle from the base at any time.
8) Setting the Keep Warm Function (optional)
• Your kettle’s Keep Warm function automatically maintains your preset water
temperature for 60 minutes once the water reaches the Target Temperature. Does
not apply if the Smart Boil function is active.
• Press the Keep Warm icon (15) at any time to activate or deactivate
the function.
• When the Keep Warm function is active, the Keep Warm icon (15) is illuminated.
• If the kettle is removed from the base, the kettle must be returned to the base and
the Keep Warm icon (15) must be pressed again to reactivate the function.
• Keep Warm function can remain active while the timer is being used.
9) Using the Timer
• Press the Timer icon (14) to enter timer mode. “00:00” will be
displayed on the LCD readout.
• The rst two digits indicate the minutes, and the last two
digits indicate the seconds (illustration E).
◦Count-Up Timer
-Press the Timer icon (14) again to start the count-up timer.
-To stop the timer, press the Timer icon (14) again.
-The maximum count-up time is 99:59 (99 minutes, 59 seconds).
-When timer is stopped, press the timer icon again to reset the timer
to “00:00”.
◦Count-Down Timer
-Press and hold the Timer icon (14) for 3 seconds to access the count-
down timer. The last count-down timer setting will be displayed. The
default count-down timer setting is 4:30 (four minutes, thirty seconds).
-To change the count-down time, press and hold the Timer icon (14) for
3 seconds until the minutes digits ash. Press the [ + ] and [ - ] icons
[(19) and (18)] to change the minutes portion of the timer. Press the
Timer icon once to save the minutes setting. The seconds portion will
ash. Press the [ + ] and [ - ] icons to change the seconds portion of the
timer. Wait for 3 seconds for the time setting to be stored.
-Press the Timer icon (14) once more to start the count-down timer.
-When the count-down timer reaches “00:00”, three audible beeps are
heard.
-To stop the timer, press the Timer icon (14) one time.
-When timer is stopped, press the Timer icon (14) again to reset the
timer to the chosen count-down time.
-To switch between the count-up and count-down timers, start the
timer by pressing the Timer icon (14), then press it again to stop. While
the timer is stopped, press and hold theTimer icon for 3 seconds and it
will switch to the other timer mode.
• Timer settings are stored for future use until the base is unplugged. Once the kettle
is plugged in again, the timer settings are returned to their defaults.
• Timer functions can be used when the kettle is on or o of the base.
• Keep Warm function can be activated while the timer is being used.

10) Adjusting Kettle Lid Tension
If you feel the kettle lid (2) is too tight or too loose, please
follow the steps below to adjust the lid’s tension:
1) Take the lid (2) o the kettle.
2) Use a pair of needle-nosed pliers or similar tool to adjust
the three tabs of the kettle lid. If you push in the tabs, the
lid tension will be reduced and easier to put on and take o.
If you pull out the tabs the lid will be harder to pull o.
3) After adjusting the tabs, replace the lid and remove it again to see if the adjustment
is correct.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have adjusted the lid to your preference.
11) Maintenance and Cleaning
• This appliance contains no user serviceable parts and requires little maintenance.
◦Refer any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel.
• Clean the kettle regularly.
◦Clean the outside of the base and the kettle with a damp, soft cloth.
• Clean the inside of kettle with dish detergent and rinse thoroughly with water.
◦Do not use abrasive cleaners.
◦After cleaning, dry the kettle and the base thoroughly.
WARNING: Never immerse the kettle or the base in water or other liquids.
WARNING: Always unplug kettle and wait for kettle to cool prior to cleaning.
12) Storage
• Clean and dry all parts before storing.
• Store the kettle in its box or in a clean, dry place.
• Never wrap the power cord (20) around the kettle. Always disconnect the removable
power cord from the base and store properly.
13) Decalcifying
• When mineral scale builds up in the kettle, it can aect temperature consistency
and slow down heating time.
• To ensure optimum performance, Brewista recommends descaling the kettle when
mineral build-up is visible inside the kettle.
Note: Vinegar may not eectively descale the kettle and can be dicult to thoroughly
rinse. Vinegar may also leave behind an odor that could aect future use.
Brewista recommends using Brewista® Descaler.
How to use Brewista® Descaler:
1) Mix 1 packet Brewista® Descaler with 40 oz.
of lukewarm water.
2) Pour the solution into the kettle.
3) Bring the solution to a boil.
4) Let the vessel cool for 15 minutes, then
discard the solution.
5) Rinse thoroughly with fresh water.

Using the High Altitude Protection Function
Your Brewista Artisan Variable Temperature Kettle has a built-in safety feature to prevent
water from reaching temperatures above what is necessary to achieve a rolling boil. However,
sometimes higher temperatures are desired. Please refer to the following instructions for
turning the high altitude protection function o or on again:
1) When the kettle is standby, press and hold the [ + ] icon (19) for three seconds. The
base (7) will beep once to conrm that the high altitude protection function has
been turned o, and the LCD will display the word“OFF”.
2) To turn this function on again, press and hold the [ + ] icon (19) for three seconds.
The high altitude protection function will turn on, and LCD will display “ON”.
3) When your kettle is unplugged, the high altitude protection function will return to
its default state of“ON”.

Tips for Preparing Coee
Pour Over Manual Brew Coee
This is the simplest coee brewing approach. It allows the individual the most control of
saturation of the coee grounds, also the most participation by the user. It requires more time
than hitting the ON switch of a drip coee maker but for many, its higher involvement is part of
the pleasure of coee overall.

E. Drinking cup or carafe (Brewista Glass Server

F. Method for boiling water (Brewista kettle)
Brewing Manual Pour Over Method
• Measure about 6 ounces of water for each cup you intend to brew. Place measured
water in kettle and turn on kettle to bring water to desired temperature.
• Grind two tablespoons of beans per cup of coee.
• Rinse the lter, dripper, and glass server (or whatever you are brewing into) with hot
water to preheat them.
• Assemble the lter, dripper and vessel and dump the ground coee into the lter.
• When the water reaches the programmed temperature, remove the kettle from

boiling temperature.
• Now pour the water into the lter. Stir the coee just a bit to be sure it all gets
saturated with water. A slow, steady pour allows for the best extraction from the
grounds.
Tips:
• You may have to pour two or three times depending in the grind, lter size, and
amount of coee being made.
• Pour-over coee is usually ground ner than drip coee maker, but not as ne as
espresso.
