WARN NG
Do not place your BT Freestyle
2500 in the bathroom or other
humid areas.
Handset range
The handset reception ran e from
the base is up to 300m outdoors
and up to 50m indoors. Thick stone
walls can severely affect the ran e.
Signal strength
The symbol on your handset
screen indicates when you are in
ran e. When you are out of ran e,
it flashes and the screen displays
OUT OF RANGE.
MPORTANT
Do not connect the telephone line
until at least one of the handsets is
fully char ed.
The base station must be plu ed
into the mains power at all times.
Location
You need to place your BT Freestyle 2500 within 2
metres of a mains power and telephone socket so that
the cables will reach.
Make sure it is at least 1 metre away from other
electrical appliances to avoid interference.
Your BT Freestyle 2500 works by sendin radio si nals
between the handset and base. The stren th of the
si nal depends on where you site the base. Puttin it as
hi h as possible ensures the best si nal.
Setting up
1. Plu the mains power cable into the base.
The reen Power/In use li ht comes on and the
answerin machine is switched On.

2. Insert the 2 x AAA NiMH batteries supplied into the
handset. Slide the battery compartment cover into place.
3. Char e the handset for at least 16 hours by placin the
handset on the base. The red Charging li ht comes on.
The handset is pre-re istered to the base as
HS 1
.
This is shown on the display. When the handset is fully
char ed the display shows the symbol.
4. After 16 hours, plu the telephone line cord into your
BT Freestyle 2500 base and the telephone wall socket.
Set the day and ti e
Your BT Freestyle 2500 answerin machine automatically
adds the day and time to all messa es and memos
recorded. The default settin is Saturday 12:01pm.

even when the batteries are full
char ed.
Talk/Standby time
Under ideal conditions, fully
char ed handset batteries should
ive about 10 hours talktime or
100 hours standby on a sin le
char e.
Battery low warning
If the symbol is flashin , you
will need to rechar e your handset
before usin it.
Battery performance
To keep your batteries in the best
condition, leave the handset off
the base for a few hours at a time
(after the initial 16 hour char e).
New NiMH batteries do not reach
full capacity until they have been in
normal use for several days
Runnin the batteries ri ht down
at least once a week will help them
last as lon as possible.
The char e capacity of
rechar eable batteries will reduce
with time as they wear out, so
reducin the talk/standby time of
the handset. Eventually they will
need to be replaced. New batteries
can be obtained from the BT
Freestyle Helpline 0870 240 3962.

1. Press and hold until you hear “Please set day and
time” and the current settin on the messa e counter
flashes.
2. Press or to hear and select the day then press
to confirm.
You can scroll throu h the settin s by holdin down the
button.

3. Press or to hear and select the hour then press
to confirm.
4. Press or to hear and select the minute then
press to confirm.
The day and time settin is announced in full.

Navigating the enus
Your BT Freestyle 2500 handset features an easy to
use menu system. Have a look at the menu map on the
next pa e.
When the handset is switched on and in standby:
1. Press and hold to open the main menu and select the
function you want by pressin -or the , or

There are volume 5 levels to choose from, 1 for low
volume, 5 for hi h volume.

Call timer
Your handset automatically
displays the duration of every
external call.
The earpiece volume can only be
chan ed when you are on a call.
If you don’t press Prog, then after
a few seconds the volume indicator
will disappear from the display and
the new settin will be
automatically saved.
If you have subscribed to a Caller
Display service, your caller’s
number will also be shown. If the
number is withheld the display
shows - - - - - . See pa e 24 for
more information.

to listen to your conversation over the loudspeaker.

Secrecy
Durin a call, you can talk to someone nearby without
your caller hearin .
1. Press . The display shows and your caller cannot
hear you.
2. Press again to return to your caller.
Redial
You can redial any of the last 10 numbers called.
1. Press repeatedly to display any of the last 10
numbers dialled.
2. Press to dial the number displayed.
To delete nu bers fro the redial list
1. When the number you want to delete is displayed, press
and hold until you hear a beep.
The next number in the list is displayed.

locate a missin handset.

2. Press on the base or any button on the handset
to stop rin in .
Internal calls
If you purchased the BT Freestyle 2500 Twin, you can
make internal calls between handsets.
1. Press and hold until the display shows

Enter the number of the handset you want to call. The
other handset will rin .
2. Press to end the call.
Transferring calls
If usin the BT Freestyle 2500 Twin, you can transfer an
external call to the other handset.
1. Durin an external call, press and hold until the

each of your Freestyle 2500 handsets for quick and
easy diallin . Numbers can be up to 18 di its lon .

1. Press and hold then . Enter the telephone
number you want to store.
2. Press then the Quickdial location ( –)
you want to store the number in.
3. Press to confirm.

2. Press and hold for 3 seconds.
3. You can now move the cursor usin the and
buttons, delete di its usin the button and insert
di its usin the keypad. To delete the whole number,
press and hold .
4. Press to confirm.
Delete all Quickdial entries
1. Press and hold , then then .
2. Press to confirm. All numbers in the Quickdial
directory are deleted.
